Oakley and the Indie Pride tribe engage in a brutal mammoth hunt in Norsca to secure vital resources. Despite a strategic ambush and a force of 3,500 men, the Norskans face devastating losses against 18 mammoths, including the powerful \"Soul Crusher.\" Through attrition and flanking maneuvers, they eventually isolate and slay the beasts to claim the meat and leather.
Hey what's up guys it's Oakley and we are here.
This is going to be the Mammoth Hunt in Norsca.
So my tribes and those of the Indie Pride tribe are going to be coming out.
It's been a cold, dark, frigid winter.
You can see our poor chaps here don't have enough leather to build anything other than
skimpy unitards.
So we're going to be coming out.
Our loincloths are disheveled.
We need some more goods.
We also need meat to eat on.
And so our tribe here has rallied all of our forces and it's time to go mammoth hunting.
We've stumbled upon a little pride of mammoths.
I don't quite know what the technical term is for a group.
Perhaps they're a gaggle.
Perhaps they're a murder.
Perhaps they're a flock.
I don't know what you call a chaos spawn group of mammoths.
I'm sure you could find something interesting.
Speaking of interesting we do want to check out these mammoth models.
This is going to be the feral version.
So Indie and I have two entire armies.
You can look at the status bar here.
We have 3,500 men coming out on the field against what was it?
I think 18.
Yeah, 18 mammoths.
Most of them as I said are feral.
There are two kind of chiefs amongst them here I guess.
One marauder champion went a little bit feral and he's literally the only guy on his crew
here.
He has these two bongo drums for when he gets bored.
And he has a little lever over here.
I guess this is a cronk.
Pull the lever.
Oh no.
Sorry.
That's an axe.
But anyways.
Yeah.
Lonely guy and a lonely herd.
We also have I believe the soul crusher up in here.
So it's going to be a regiment of renowned mammoths.
So we have to be a little bit scared.
Oh here she is.
The soul crusher.
So this is the old withered but pretty badass matriarch and she has here her big trunk with
teeth that can eat up our guys.
So anyways we're going to be doing a mammoth hunt.
So we're going to recreate old stone age tactics.
So the first ploy is going to be to try and funnel the enemy into the center.
Get their attention and swarm them and force them to go down through the valley.
Now if this were actual like you know Indians on the plains or something like that what
we would be doing is chasing these guys into pits over cliffs and what not.
But unfortunately we can't do that.
So what we're going to be doing instead is corralling them, pulling them with aggro into
the center.
Where I here have placed one of my shaman sorcerers.
He is a almost like a stone age coked out dude who's been eating all kinds of mushrooms
in the forest.
He thinks he can speak for the gods and he has decided to put a reindeer on his head.
A reindeer with teeth.
So he's a crazy of the crazies.
And he's going to be leading the tar pit in the center so these guys are patiently waiting
here with the assurance of their shaman that no no no nothing can ever hurt you.
But just over the crest you start to see the panic of our guys coming.
So that's kind of the plan.
This guy here is believing that he can hold back the elephants.
And what we're going to have is we have an ambush on the side with a bunch of these javelin
troops on all flanks with bonus versus large and these guys are going to crest over and
attempt to attack.
We have rear lines as well with some of our chieftains on foot.
So this is going to get to be a very interesting fight.
Indy also has additional forces on this flank.
So all of this is going to be I guess you could say somewhat hidden.
And here's the obvious ploy in the center.
A little bit of spears but I don't think that's going to be able to do anything.
Over in the front we can see as the elephants decide to start chasing we can put this on
normal speed finally.
And yeah here comes the bait.
So we're trying to get out here.
This guy is lucky enough to get away with his life.
A couple of them not so.
We have units in the back here also trying to harry and harass these elephants.
They're getting pretty annoyed.
Most of them are going to be charging forward.
It looks like the trap is somewhat working.
I had to scoot through the center or I'm going to have to scoot through the center with this
cavalry force to try and bring them back.
Let's take a look from the perspective of the shaman who is now licking his lips because
he is literally crazy and he is very excited to take on these mammoths.
But I don't think he quite knows what's coming for him.
So mammoths on the right are charging.
Our horsemen are going to try and harass and pull them back in.
And look at this rampaging group.
They're very angry.
A couple of them already standing up.
And this is my, these are the war boys who are screaming out here to their chieftain,
witness me!
And they're trying to be pretty ballsy out in the middle of the pack essentially.
Tossing their hammers and trying to get people to go.
Meanwhile in the center here, the horsemen are pulling back but here comes the main crush.
Let's put this on pause as we're about to get a charge from the elephants and god do
they look freaking glorious.
So they're rearing up.
Mind you that there's also going to be five elephants charging on the right.
We're going to stick to the center because this is where the action is for now.
And oh my god this is not where you want to be.
Despite the penis sized brain, or I almost said penis sized brain, no peanut sized brain
of these ancient humans here, or these ancient Norskans, yeah you still have that lizard
brain inside you that tells you to be scared at this.
And I believe that is soul crusher that's going to be coming at us.
And oh god here it comes.
And they're just going to carve right through our ranks.
Let's put this on pause again so we can get a nice angle because this is absolutely freaking
glorious.
So we have all of our javelin troops, the cavalrymen, balling back.
And our sorcerer here is going to try and commit to this fight pretty soon.
But this is just devastating.
A little bit of slow motion.
Oh my god look on the left as those guys get bowled over.
Another one coming stampeding through.
Three mammoths coming in to slaughter your war party here.
This is a fight that is going to be very much culling our population.
My god the front ranks are getting destroyed.
Let's put this on slow motion.
So we've been absolutely shattered.
Up through the center our spear line has been crushed.
We are getting some good shots in the back.
The shaman is trying to hold here.
Arcane conduit.
And now we had, it looks like these elephants were dissuaded from attacking.
And they're going to be coming for our guys on the flank making a beeline here.
And now they're going to bowl a strike right through our spears.
We're going to try and fend them off but everything is collapsing in on us.
Now as this is happening what we've decided to do is start to cast debuffs, transmutation
of lead to bring down melee attack and other things to try and debuff these elephants as
we bring in more reinforcements.
And now at this point we're going to activate the flanking attack.
Mind you we did have to sacrifice some cavalry to keep these three feral mammoths occupied
instead of coming to chase our guys here.
So here comes the charge.
They hear the cries.
They're going to come over and they're going to see their entire tribe taking hits to the face.
This is where you decide are you a man or are you going to go back home.
But they know that back home there is no meat left for them so it's a victory or death.
Let's get a nice shot of here the warriors coming over.
Cresting the hill on these mammoths just as our guys are starting to retreat.
So we come, coming over and one of the elephants does break free.
He is starting to go a little bit berserk.
And against our poorly armored guys, going to just shatter an entire unit like that.
The other are going to try and commit.
Looks like we have a mammoth that's coming after us.
He has been debuffed so his health is going to start going down.
But over in the center our main line has been absolutely routed.
Let's get another nice shot of this.
The hunt is not going well.
Look how many mammoths we have concentrated in this position.
Spearmen trying to get in here but they are just as likely to get hit by these horns as
they are by swinging dingleberries from these elephant buttholes.
It is dangerous to be out here.
But Indie Pride's force is going to come around.
They're going to rally his chieftain as well.
And they're going to start to be able to pick off the elephants on the flank.
They've taken some damage in the center and now once they start to get isolated and lose
steam is where we can start taking them down.
Spearmen are going to charge in to try and get some glory.
It may be a bit premature.
Yep, it was.
They are going to pay for it with their lives and then get stomped on top of it.
But I think the health on this guy is low enough that Indie should be able to break
him.
He gets one final charge.
But we have so many guys that we're starting to do a lot of damage.
In the center, they're going to come and hit our second rank.
Looks like my chieftain is fighting our shaman.
I do want to find where our shaman went.
That crazed unit.
Okay, oh here he is.
Over here.
Getting tossed about.
About to get stomped.
So his favor of the gods is definitely not paying for itself.
But here comes a crash in the center.
We are able to target this main chieftain here on top of his war mammoths.
So that is a little bit of a victory.
And on this side, we are getting routed, but our guys are starting to come back from routing.
And what's going to happen is the enemy is going to start to get a bit isolated, which
is exactly how you want to treat your prey on a hunt.
So over here, let's watch this.
As the men yell, bring her down, bring her down, bring her down.
There we go.
A nice kill shot right there.
Glorious.
And we don't have the time to laugh and rejoice at that too much because the next target is
up here.
Soon we would like to rip off the fur, the meat, tear off those chunks, but we have more
pressing matters.
The chieftain up here in the center is going to be seeing this mammoth off and it looks
like his sheer brass balls are going to be enough to chase it away.
In the distance, our guys are going to be rallying and look how many spears you have
landing around here.
This is absolutely insane.
This mammoth should be going down pretty soon, but not without continuing to mow down our forces.
He sees the dead, his dead ally here, and I think he's going to breathe his last.
So this is starting to be a bit tragic for these figures.
We've lost a lot of men, but on this side we're starting to rally.
And now, as they get isolated, we're going to be able to tear them apart, as I've been
saying.
And our guys get spread out more and more, so it's going to be harder for them to land
devastating blows.
Here goes this guy.
Meanwhile, in the center, my forces have been absolutely shellacked.
My chieftain's still alive, but the rest of the forces rampaging through.
It looks like this chieftain, still with 1400 health, is going to chase after our remaining
spears.
Not much we have left to beat them back, so the center is going to collapse, but on the
wings we will be victorious.
And yeah, this is pretty brutal.
If we go back on this side, again, the advantage is going to us where we've been able to isolate
forces.
So some feral mammoths have been drawn off for us to rout, and then here we're chasing
down on another one.
So we're going to get to collapse in on the center.
Some of our mounted warboys are still alive.
I believe we're going to be able to switch over to our throwing axes and toss those right
into the face of the mammoth.
And that is enough to sit him on his ass and force him to the ground.
And with that, now we can start to clean up... start to, I say, because we're still pretty
far away from this.
Oh my god, I believe this is the scary one.
Oh no, sorry, this is the chieftain.
Still a scary figure, but we need to be afraid of the regiment of renown.
Okay, looks like this beast is going to be taking a tumble pretty soon.
Boom!
Collapses in on our guys, and there she goes.
So the hunt now is finally proving successful.
If you've been able to stay alive until this point, it looks like the odds are good that
you're going to be able to start collecting some meat.
Looks like some of my boys are trying to do just that.
Oh, here comes some of the guys.
And yeah, it is very important that you are one of the men to be able to claim these mammoth
prizes.
Looks like this portion of the tribe has claimed this corpse for itself, so they're going to
have two.
They're going to skin these, and they're going to try and make them into tents, into armor,
sorry, and into all kinds of things.
Use the tusks for kind of scaffolding within their tents.
And yeah, across the battlefield, only a few mammoths are remaining.
Looks like this portion of the tribe has four bodies.
The center has a couple, and yeah, it looks like we're competing now like ants for the
remaining corpses of the elephants.
This guy's going to go down.
But like I said, it's going to be important to get the pick of the elephant.
You don't want to be the scavenger in the end who then has to get the butt cheeks as
part of your tent.
You imagine everyone else can use ear flaps, ribs, and all that.
If you are the last guy who gets access to the elephant, you're going to be making a
tent out of butt cheeks, and your entry flap is going to be his butthole.
So yeah, that is why it's so important not only to get the prize meat, but also the prize
parts of the mammoth.
And you know what they say, these tribal cultures do use every part of the body, so this booty
right up in here with that little mark on it, yep, that's going to be used.
You don't really see that advertised too much.
But anyways, that is it.
The end of the hunt has come.
We were finally able to disperse the herd, and this is a key tactic for predators is
to separate the herd, and we saw this come to full completion here.
But then again, we did suffer massive casualties.
I mean, you can pivot across the entire battlefield, tons of corpses lay in and about here.
So perhaps the aftermath of this battle, we'll see all kinds of yetis come down from the
mountains, and ogres and things of that nature to try and eat and clean up this corpse field.
So we'll see if we can seize the prizes.
But that's it for this battle.
I hope you guys enjoyed.
A little bit of fun stuff.
I did do a commentary previously with IndiePride, but my audio was corrupted, so you can go
ahead and check out our original commentary over on Indie's channel.
I'll link it below.
Otherwise, we can take a look at the stats here.
I have fewer men remaining than Indie, but I risk myself a little bit more.
I got more mammoth kills.
He has more men alive.
But I get the prize pick, and as we stated before, that is going to be very important.
If we look at my guys, one of my dudes is a total and complete boss.
Six mammoth takes down.
He gets the pick of the mammoth choice.
He's going to be feasting on, I don't know what the best part of a mammoth is.
Well, I guess maybe you do want the butt to make some massive chunks of bacon.
But anyways, he's going to get the pick of whatever his kink is.
I do have a couple other kills scattered around here.
This shaman got absolutely shellacked, and thankfully my Marauder Chieftain stayed alive.
So I got six, seven, eight, eight kills on the mammoths, and IndiePride here has, oh,
one on the horseman.
He has one, two, three, four, five.
So he has five kills to my eight.
So that is pretty glorious for my tribe.
Indie is going to be left with the remains.
He's the butt cheek tribe from now on.
Meanwhile, if we look at the opposing side, a lot of kills on some of the veteran or elite
forces of the feral crew.
164 for the Chieftain, and if we look on this side, 121, 105, 118, and 160 up through there.
That is pretty ridiculous.
And I'm surprised that Soulcrusher didn't get more kills than that.
I think we really did a good job of focusing her down.
But that's it for this battle.
Hope you guys enjoyed.
And definitely, when you get the title and when Warhammer 2 drops, I really suggest that
you play this type of hunt minigame.
It's really, really fun.
And I hope that modders are able to turn it into some kind of game.
For instance, I can't imagine a free-for-all survival type game type in a jungle with all
feral T-Rexes and stuff, and you just have to stay alive.
Like three players with one player as the AI that has nothing but T-Rexes.
And it would be like a last man standing, or who can get the most T-Rex kills.
That would be very interesting if a modder could configure a rumble pit like that of
sorts.
But anyways, that's it for this battle.
Hope you guys enjoyed.
