Video Summary
AI GeneratedPrecise secured a dominant victory in the Irish 1,000 Guineas, overcoming a slow start to win by two and a half lengths. Trained by Aidan O'Brien, the home-bred filly displayed superior speed and tactical recovery. The event also sparked discussions regarding her potential move to the Oaks and an analysis of Minnie Hawk's disappointing performance in the Tattersalls Gold Cup.

Flags are raised, we're loaded, and they're off.
In the Finnish classic, the title says Irish 1,000 guineas.
A mile in front of them, Kensington Lane in the firing line with Hope Queen.
With the rail position, Abishiri, followed by Beautify, as they settle down the end of almost a couple of furlongs.
They race towards the elbow, and wide apart, Abishiri and Kensington Lane, followed by Hope Queen.
Right on the outside is Beautify, tracking Abishiri as True Love, and then comes Pivotal Attack.
Followed with five and a half furlongs to go by Black Caviar Gold, and then St. Mara.
Towards the back, Manicor, with Precise and Sukanya.
With their title group, a furlong outside the halfway stage, and they've split into two groups.
Over on the far side, it's Abishiri leading Pivotal Attack, True Love, Black Caviar Gold, and St. Mara.
In the center, in front, is Kensington Lane from Hope Queen, followed inside halfway by Beautify, and then Manicor, Precise, and Sukanya.
Racing towards the final three furlongs in the title is Irish 1,000 guineas, and it's Abishiri and William Buick in front.
Stalked by True Love and Ryan Moore, Pivotal Attack pushed along by Gary Carroll, and then Kensington Lane, St. Mara.
Followed then past the two by Black Caviar Gold, and then Beautify, Manicor, Hope Queen, Precise, and Sukanya.
Stood in front is Abishiri, but about to challenge on the outside is True Love.
And over the top of them is Precise on the outside.
Things are changing quickly, and it's Precise who has got in the front from True Love and Abishiri.
Precise is back in the Irish 1,000.
The double for Aidan O'Brien and Wade Lorden.
True Love second, Abishiri in third.
Wow. That man, Wayne Lorden, in the right place at the right time again.
He was on True Love at Newmarket, and he's fallen in for the ride on Precise today with the switchover and Ryan Moore ending up on True Love.
And Dom, we were wondering beforehand, would we see the real Precise this time?
I think we got our answer in spades there, didn't we?
Yeah, what a performance, Gary. She's bounced right back to her best.
Her juvenile form from last season was brilliant.
And now she's the Irish Guineas winner as well.
Wayne Lorden, who rode True Love to win at Newmarket, has ridden Precise to win here, and he's delivered it on the outside.
Abishiri and True Love on the far side battling it out.
But here's where Precise comes over the top, as Gerry Hannan said in commentary, grabs True Love, goes on.
And she's, yeah, burst clear and won really impressively in the end.
Well documented that her preparation for Newmarket didn't go entirely smoothly.
And just see, she stumbled coming out of the stalls there as well, Dom.
So hard to know whether Wayne Lorden intended to be as far back as he was.
That's not the first time we've seen a horse do that, leaving the stalls today either.
And very interesting as well, slightly unusual in these sort of conditions, they went into two groups.
It looked as though Chris Hayes led a few of them on Kensington Lane, keeping out a bit wider.
Did that surprise you?
Yeah, it was surprising to see it.
So Abishiri got a solo up the inside, and you've got Abishiri and William Buick on the inside.
Ryan Moore tracking him along the inside rail.
It's probable that's the place where you want to be.
But Precise was further out from her wider draw.
She was out in stall seven, so she finds herself in the group of six towards the near side.
All the while, Abishiri, she's travelled well in front for William Buick, and she's stuck to her task well.
She's kept on to finish third.
Truelove and Ryan Moore are stalking her in behind.
Wayne Lorden just starting to make his ground towards the near side on Precise.
She's had to make her ground on the near side, and then she moved to her right to join Truelove and Abishiri towards the far side.
Here's where Abishiri comes under her right.
Looks like Truelove is travelling better than her.
But look further to your right, and you see Wayne Lorden just starting to wind up Precise.
It'll be interesting to see from the overhead camera, Gary, but she's got a fair bit of ground to make up on the leaders at this point.
But there's that explosive turn of foot that we've seen so often in the last season.
She's produced it again today, and yeah, impressive.
I'd imagine up until maybe they were going to the furlong pole, Ryan Moore was pretty confident he was going to win it on Truelove.
But all of a sudden, Precise appeared on the scene and settled it very, very quickly indeed.
It's an embarrassment, the riches Ballet Royal have with these three-year-old fillies this year.
You throw Diamond Necklace into the mix as well.
Camila Earhart is in favour for the Oaks, I think.
Here we are, and this is the moment.
She just edges to her right as she's coming with her winning run, but straightens up then.
Truelove just rolling right a touch as well there as she was starting to maybe get a little bit tired near the finish.
Abishiri's closed the gap on her from Newmarket as well, and Precise obviously has overturned the form.
And here we are done from the overhead.
We can just see maybe how much ground the winner had to make up.
Yeah, she probably doesn't have that much ground to make up on Truelove at this point, does she?
She's just a little bit behind.
Stewards & Quarry just not involving the winner, probably involving the second and third.
That little incident we saw there close home.
But yeah, she doesn't have that much ground to make up on Truelove, probably about a length.
Maybe a little bit more at most, but she made it up very, very quickly, didn't she?
And that was the moment she hit the front, and from that point on, it was over as a contest.
Very strong to the line down.
The Oaks has been spoken about as a possibility for her as well.
We'll find out from Connections whether that is likely to happen.
But do you think she'd have the stamina for a mile and a half?
Yeah, why not?
And we've often seen it, Gary.
Aidan O'Brien often steps fillies up from the Irish 1000 Guineas to the Oaks.
And fillies mile winners, to have the wherewithal and the ability to win a Group 1 race over a mile at the end of your two-year-old season,
fillies for who win that can often step up and trip and be middle-distance fillies for the following season.
Particularly special winner for the O'Briens because they bred precise as well under the Whisperview Trading Limited banner.
And she is now a classic winner.
And with shades of late Victoria last year as well, Gary, underperformed in the Guineas according to market expectation.
But we saw the real precise today, 4-1.
Wayne Lorden getting the ride.
He has the Guineas double.
True Love, the new market Guineas, win a 6-4 run back in second.
And Al-Bashiri, who I think you can mark off her run fairly significantly as well on just her third run, 6-1 back in third.
The Stewards' Inquiry, I believe, is down to True Love and Al-Bashiri.
Winner not affected.
I think they've come quite tight in the closing stages, Ryan Moore and William Buick.
But precise was out of danger at that point, George.
And what a step up from what we saw at Newmarket.
Yeah, a massive improvement, Anthony.
And it was really interesting the dynamic of the race, how it evolved.
Obviously, you could see William Buick broke well on Al-Bashiri.
And she's raced with a choke out.
No one came over to him.
He was sort of left isolated from the main body of the field.
And Chris Hayes on Kensington Lane from stall three.
A proper move to race off that inside line.
And what you say is five horsewits, six horsewits off that inside line.
And that's meant the main body of the field.
You see Gary Carroll shifts over on pivotal attack, who was in stall nine, to sit up side True Love.
Well, just probably on the quarters of Al-Bashiri.
So it was a really strange dynamic.
And precise is in a really good rhythm.
Following Beautify on the wing of the field towards the outside rail as such.
And in a really good rhythm.
But interestingly, True Love travelled so strongly in behind.
And I agree with Gary.
Ryan Moore would have thought, this is my race for the taking whenever I want to go.
And you can just see Gary Carroll on pivotal attack.
It's struggling to keep her on the line to keep Ryan tight.
And Ryan's able to pop out just before the two pole very smoothly.
Absolutely running away.
And precise is at the back of the field just being rode along.
But Wayne Norton sits into her and gives her one flip with a stick.
She just takes off.
And she is really, really rattled home.
She drifted towards the two on the inside rail late on.
But she's won really comfortably by two and a half lengths.
And has backed up what we saw on the Phillies mile last year.
Off what we've seen so far, Gary mentioned the Oaks have been mooted as a possibility for her.
If she was to go up and trip, we know she wouldn't lack for a bit of tactical speed.
Do you think it's worth a go of what you've seen?
Definitely, you've got to have a go.
She is pretty sensible.
She relaxes, gets into a good rhythm.
I know she was leaning right handed there.
But I think it's because she was lacking company.
And Wayne was quick to pull his stick through.
You can just see on the inside, William gets tightened up on Al-Bashiri.
As True Love sort of rolls back in.
He never really had to stop riding.
But I think he was beaten at the time.
The stewards are going to look at it.
But they're not going to change the result.
Precise has always seemed such a straightforward filly.
Pretty much all the way through her career.
From when she was winning the Group 3 prestige at Goodwood.
Right into her Group 1 assignments.
She's just been a joy to have in these Group 1 races.
Where inches and moments in a race can be the difference between 1st and 5th.
For sure.
And she's stepped forward loads in what we saw at Newmarket.
I feel at Newmarket she was inconvenienced by track position.
And she had to make a big move to get in touch.
But she wasn't on her A-game that day.
She's stepped forward plenty for that run.
And the turn of foot she showed today was electric, wasn't it?
It might be the last time that we see them all together.
Al-Bashiri back in 3rd.
Trulov in 2nd.
And Precise, who gets her classic.
Maybe just that little bit later than some people thought she would.
Aidan O'Brien has just won his 12th Addison's Irish 1000 Guineas with Precise.
Aidan, a magic moment for you.
Because it's a home-bred.
Under the Whisperview training banner.
Just tell us how much more enjoyment that adds to the whole occasion for you and your family.
Yeah, it's very special.
Obviously Anna and all the lads.
And Anthony and all the lads at home.
They do all the work.
They do all the maintenance, the planning.
She's a home-bred mare.
All the family are in Coolmore now.
I think she had a wooden-basset sister a couple of days ago.
She's a lovely Galileo mare.
It's very exciting.
She was very special last year.
She just about made the Guineas.
Roger rides this filly out every day.
He's done an amazing job with her.
Rachel rides her in her work.
Jamie's in charge of her with Trevor.
They're the people that make it happen.
Rory, everyone.
All the people around them.
A lot of hard work goes in.
But because she's a home-bred, it makes it very special.
Because the mare would have been born with the lads.
And they've been mated and everything.
So it's very difficult to breed a classic winner.
It's next to impossible.
But when it happens, it's a dream.
I'm so delighted for the lads.
They've been always very patient with all of them and with the family.
So I'm delighted that they have her.
And they have the mother and all the sisters and everything.
So it's very exciting, really, Gary.
You never hated your regard for her.
Precise on what she did last season.
Obviously, it was top-class form.
How confident were you that we'd see the best of her?
We knew there was massive improvement.
And in all fairness to poor Ryan, it was very difficult.
I'm delighted for Wayne.
He gave her an unbelievable ride.
Very cool.
He was super cool on her.
Ryan didn't ride Wayne's filly in Newmark
because he couldn't be sure that she would stay.
And you couldn't be sure until she did it.
But she ran and she won and she did stay.
So he had to ride her this time.
We knew there was going to be terrible progress from this filly.
When Ryan rode her in Newmarket, he was on the other side.
And his side ended up further back than they should have been.
So Ryan had to move early on her to try and make up the ground.
And because he moved early and because she needed a run,
she got a little bit tired.
And then the last half of Furlong, Ryan minded her.
So she was only beating five or six lengths.
And he did mind her.
He didn't beat her up.
And she came out of the race very well.
The progress, like Roger every day said to me this morning,
this filly hasn't improved so much.
It's hard to believe.
So we knew it was possible that this could happen.
It was an even pace.
It wasn't mad.
But when Wayne said when he started to move her and put her into top gear,
he said she just took off.
And he said she ran through the line.
So we came here thinking that it's possible she could go back to Epsom in two weeks
if the lads decide to do that.
So it would be very exciting.
It'll be another very difficult decision for Ryan because obviously Mila is in there.
And I think she's nearly favourite for the Oaks.
So another very difficult one.
Will she get a mile and a half?
You don't know until you try it.
But she's out of a lot of stamina.
Galileo Mayer with a lot of stamina in her pedigree.
There's a horse that was placed in a gold cup in the pedigree.
So there's every chance she would even though she's by Star Spangled Banner.
So listen, it's very exciting.
I'm delighted for everybody really.
Great day, Gary.
Hugely exciting times.
And I'm sure if she does go to Epsom,
what she does there will probably dictate plans for the rest of the term after that.
I would imagine.
So does she go to Epsom?
Or do the lads go to the Carnation?
I think Ryan felt that maybe his stamina ran out on the other filly.
But the Cora is a tough mile.
So would she be better suited going back for the Carnation?
Ryan's filly.
Or maybe this filly, skip Epsom and go to the Carnation.
So they're all decisions that will have to be made.
I suppose we have to see first how she comes out of it.
And how everybody that deals with her every day feels about it.
And then we'll tell the lads.
And then they'll make the decision.
Fantastic.
Aidan, one of your star fillies wasn't at her best today.
That, of course, was Minnie Hawk in the Tattersalls Gold Cup.
Did she seem okay afterwards?
Oh, yeah.
No, it was easy to know what happened there.
They jumped to go and they went for three furlongs.
And Ryan made that decision when they were going.
He was going to take his time on her.
And that was the right thing to do.
But then the pace went out of the race.
So Ryan ended up back in a slowly run mile and a quarter on a mile and a half filly.
So he had no chance then.
So, really, with her, you'd want to be an end-to-end mile and a quarter gallop at the top level for her to come into her best.
And them things happen.
And he made the right decision at the time.
And then, like I said, the pace went down.
So he was trapped back.
So he was going to find it very hard to run down those horses.
You don't really run them down because they have to be coming back to you if you're on a mile and a half filly.
So she'll leave that run well behind her, I would imagine.
Maybe something will come up that I can't see there now, tomorrow.
But I'd imagine that that's what did happen.
You still fancy maybe going on to ask her for the Prince of Wales?
I think it's a good option.
The lads will see what they want to do.
But she will want an end-to-end gallop.
And I would imagine if we were going to ask her the next time, we'd go forward out the gates and there'd be no taking back.
We wouldn't be taking a chance on the pace dropping away, if you know what I mean.
So, listen, there are all things that we can think about and talk about.
But I think she'll leave it well behind her and we'll move on from there.
Aidan, as ever, thanks for your time.
I can really see what this one means to you.
Well done. Thanks very much.
Pleasure, Gary. Thank you.
Thanks, Gary.
