Brendan Shane from the band The Nocturnal Affair provides a comprehensive tour of their \"bandwagon\" as they travel through the Midwest to promote their single, \"Oxygen.\" He shares the practicalities of life on the road, highlighting the amenities, the band members, and the strict social rules they follow to maintain a functional living environment.
I think that's one of the most important things to bring on tour is a pillow and blanket from
home. If you respect yourself and the people you're touring with, do not go number two on a tour bus.
Hey hey, come on in. I'm Brendan Shane from The Nocturnal Affair and we're gonna give you a tour
of our bandwagon. We are currently on the road to support our new single, Oxygen, and we are
hitting radio stations all across the Midwest, including Illinois. Yeah, so the bandwagon has
a DVD player. Now kids, a DVD player is an object that plays these things called discs. Not like
throwing a frisbee, but they actually have media on them. You don't just download them from the
interwebs. And so I've been watching some of our favorites, a little bit of wrestling.
We got Walk the Line, although I prefer Walk Hard, and History of Violence. So I don't usually watch
a lot of movies that kind of hide my bunk or wait until somebody puts Spaceballs on. We have a full
blown satellite dish, so it's sweet. We have a lot of options if we have service. So as long as we're
not going through any tunnels, we're good. We watch Spaceballs. We've seen The Simpsons, Family Guy,
American Dad. I mean, what else were we watching? South Park. South Park, a lot of South Park.
Forrest Gump. Forrest Gump. Well, I had said I'd never really watched Forrest Gump all the way
through yesterday. And we got back from having Texas Roadhouse and I had too much steak. And I was
like, I think I'll take a nap. And I slept for like six hours. And apparently Forrest Gump suddenly was
on like twice. So I caught the tail end of it. So I still have never seen Forrest Gump all the way
through. So it's great. So thankfully, the bandwagon comes with a normal size fridge. We can kind of
stock it up with whatever we want. I had no idea we got Hawaiian rolls. So now I'm really excited
right now. We got your Hot Pockets, leftover pizza. But this really helps us save money instead
of eating out every night at like fast food, etc. Donuts. We also get to keep various other things,
bread, plates, creatine, spoons, you know, the necessities. Five pounds of protein. That's mine.
But of course, the pasta. You need the pasta. So Drew brought this. What is the contraption?
It's an air fryer. It's a ninja. It's a ninja foodie. It's like a crockpot. It does your taxes.
It's fantastic. So our merch person has actually made us dinner multiple nights in a row now. And
it's saved us a lot of money. I don't know what's in these drawers. We've got incense bags, band-aids.
We got wipes, soap, potatoes. You want some potatoes? And what is this? I don't even know
what this is. Cornstarch. Why did we get cornstarch? For the pot roast. For the pot roast. That's why
we got cornstarch. Our merch person's making a freaking pot roast. So that's awesome. You gotta
have hot sauce on tour. It makes everything better. There you go. The extra hot Cholula.
Can't go wrong. So this is Kellen, our guitar player. This is Patrick, our newest drummer.
This is Drew, our guitar player. Skylar, our new bass player. This is our merch person, Amber.
And this is Barrett, who makes sure we don't burn everything down, including ourselves.
Yeah, this is kind of where everybody hangs out, whether we're on the move or stationary. I kind
of spend most of my time in the bunk or sitting right there, scrolling endlessly, literally from
city to city. Everything's a blur now. I don't know where we are. I don't know where we're going.
I'm just going to go squirrel when we're done with this. So that's great. Water down here.
Water and grocery bags. What's wrong with the middle? Well, now I want to see what the middle
one is. What's in the middle? Oh, it's laundry. He's jumping up. Oh, there's some stuff in the
front. Wait, hold on. Something I'm proud of. Picked up yesterday. There you go. There you
go. We haven't played yet, but I'm saving it for possibly today. Cards Against Humanity,
the hotbox. That's going to be a wild game. I feel like old Greg right now. These are my things.
You like this? You could have it. You could have it. It's yours now.
This is my favorite bag to take everywhere, whether it's on tour or just
visiting places across the country. Here we go. There we go. Rock and wrestling rager bag.
I've got my workout shirt for later. Scarface. I got my hat, which can't find right now in America
and hidden water bottles. I guess I got a little stash going. That's about it, man.
Pillow from home. That's like the biggest. I think that's one of the most important things
to bring on tour is a pillow and blanket from home. I always try to go for the bottom bunk
to the right because of the direction I sleep. Generally, I'll sleep on this shoulder.
If I sleep towards the wall, I will feel like I'm suffocating at night. I don't know why. That's
just how it feels. I like sleeping closer to the wheel well as well because the hum of the bus and
the way it moves, it just knocks me right out. This is our junk bunk that has been nicely
rearranged by Amber. Generally, it looks like it has its own life and is slowly growing by the day,
but right now it's friendly. You're in luck. It probably generally would be the choice bunk
because of how much room you have, but also I feel like there's just not a lot of protection
from the outside world and you'll hear everything else all the time. If someone just decides to come
out here and have a conversation on their phone or watch TV, you're going to be a part of that.
You're not really going to be able to sleep. I don't know. It's just the difference it makes
just being a little bit back here. I guess we turned the air conditioning off, but it's
generally a good white noise to drown everything out. This is our bathroom. It's pretty simple.
This is only for number one, never number two. I don't care who tells you it's safe to do that
on a tour bus. Don't ever do it. If you respect yourself and the people you're touring with,
do not go number two on a tour bus. Our shower area, because we do not own this bus,
we try not to use water from the tank. This is nothing against Bandwagon. I'm sure they keep
it very clean, but because we don't know what they do to it before or after we have it, we just don't
put water through the pipes in that manner. We don't wash our hands with this water. We have
special hand sanitizer and various other ways of cleaning our hands properly. We don't use the
shower at all. Instead, it's used as storage for right now because we're on a bit of an acoustic
radio tour. Acoustic guitars, towels, robes, various other clothes, shoes, etc. This is
Brendan from The Nocturnal Affair. Thank you so much for coming and checking out our Bandwagon.
We are currently on tour supporting our latest single, Oxygen, which will be available
