It's so yummy!
Okay, we have one full box of Devil's Food Cake Mix.
Now, we are not going to follow the instructions on this box.
No, no ma'am.
Ignore those.
We are going to put a fourth a cup of oil.
I use vegetable oil.
And we have three-fourths a cup of Pillsbury Chocolate Fudge Frosting.
Three-fourths a cup.
And then three-fourths a cup of water.
And now we mix.
Okay, so surely you are thinking, why would I not follow the instructions?
That is because we are not making a cake.
We are making a pie crust for a very special pie.
This is a chocolate ice cream pie.
And it's something that my mom always made.
And usually, Lauren would make it.
She would make it for my birthday.
Yep.
But Lauren is injured.
And so I have to make my own.
Gotta make your own ice cream pie.
Ice cream pie.
And put this aside.
Two greased, pre-greased pie tins.
And now we're just going to divide and divide half.
Oh, you need to mix it a little more.
Oh.
You're learning.
Okay, now we are going to spread the mixture.
But importantly, don't spread it up the sides.
Just make it fill the base.
You're going to have a lot of extra for spatula licking.
That's part of the recipe.
It accounts for that.
Now, as soon as these are evenly distributed, your oven is preheated to 350.
Pop those in.
Okay, we're going to let those bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
But do not overcook.
You will not regret.
It's been 25 minutes.
Yeah, those look good.
Ooh, yes.
Now we're just going to let these naturally fall.
And as they do, that's going to create the pie crust.
Okay, so these didn't fall as much as I hoped.
In the future, what I might try is...
I don't know if you're familiar with the chocolate chip cookie smash,
where you go like that right out of the oven and it will help condense.
But anyway, we're past that now.
What I'm going to try to do is condense it with the pan.
Yeah, condensing.
Looks like a brownie.
It is a brownie.
Yeah, this is pretty nice.
A little like a little pottery here.
Yeah.
You can really feel the slightly undercookedness as it's just compressing.
This is not for the faint of heart.
Okay, now the next ingredient is...
You can use any ice cream you want.
But the recipe calls for Haagen-Dazs chocolate chocolate chip.
And it is worth the extra money, I promise.
So you have three of these.
Oh, these are 14 ounce.
I'm just going to dump it right in.
We pulled these out earlier to get them all melty.
Okay, now for the finishing touch,
we take our remaining chocolate fudge frosting, warmed up in the micro,
and we do this.
I don't know what this is called.
Drizzle.
We drizzle.
You can tell I am not the...
You're not the normal.
I am not the drizzler.
No.
I am not the resident drizzler.
This is...
You could probably find a better drizzling technique than this.
It's very interpretive.
So again, this is a super duper chocolatey recipe.
So now we're going to put it into the freezer.
Let it harden up.
Here we go.
Okay, those have chilled.
Oh, ice cream pie.
Ice cream pie.
I love it.
Can I have a little piece too?
Yeah.
It's so yummy.
