Hi everyone, so today's video is going to be on how to create flower teapots and a tea
set. So in my previous video I mentioned how you can use different household objects as
planters and one of my favourite ways of doing this is using things like teapots or little
teacups and saucers to make planters with. So I'm going to show you how I do that today.
So when you are choosing the teapot or the tea set that you want to use, think about
what sort of flowers you're going to put into it. So if you are using a teapot, make sure
that the hole for the teapot is big enough for you to fit a plant in because some of
these teapots can be quite narrow so it's going to be quite difficult to fit a flower
in there but we can try and make it work. It's best to use kind of like an old tea set
that you're not too worried about if it does break because there can be a few mistakes
with this way of planting. You can also use the teapot and the tea set for houseplants.
That works really well as well but today I'm going to use outdoor plants for this.
So you want to start by placing the teapot face down onto a flat surface. Now for this
you'll definitely need a pair of goggles and a drill and if you're not confident at using
one definitely have someone help you because it is quite difficult.
So you want to place a tiny bit of water where you're about to drill the hole to stop the
dust and help keep the drill cool. Then all you need to do is drill down to create a hole.
Now it definitely isn't as easy as it looks and you do need a bit of patience with this
but it's so worth it. It does go with a bit of force when you finally get the drill through
too. If you're using a china cup or a cup which
feels thinner it's a good idea to add some tape just to stop the porcelain from smashing.
We had a couple of broken cups before using this method.
So once you've made the holes in your tea set you want to start by putting the flowers
inside it. So the first thing you want to do is just add a little bit of gravel or again
a bit of smashed ceramic pot just to help the drainage at the bottom of your teapot
or tea set whatever you've used. Not too many just enough to kind of give that bit of texture
and then a tiny bit of compost again. Now because our pots are so small you don't
really need too much of this at all. Like that and then take the plant you're going
to be using add a little bit of water to it. I've already added it to this plant and
when you take it out make sure you squeeze the pot so it falls out gently rather than
you know tugging at the stems because that can break it.
I've actually cut this down a little bit just so it fits better in our teacup and then just
push it in the teacup as gently as you can. So when you finish it should look something
like this and honestly I'm really happy with how they turned out. I think they look really
cute very kind of Cath Kidson English country home style. I just think they look amazing
and especially that you can do them with old tea sets and stuff that you have. I just think
it's really personalized and yeah I just love the overall effect. So I really hope you enjoyed
this video. If you did please give it a thumbs up and subscribe to my channel because it
really would help me out and tag me in your photos as well on Instagram because I'd love
to see if you recreate any of these and how yours turned out. I just think it looks so
cute. So yeah have a great day and I'll speak to you all in my next video. Bye guys!
