I Tried the World s SMELLIEST Fruit in Vietnam

It's so sharp. Are you ready? Oh don't smell it. Welcome to Vietnam. Today we are going to Chau Thai Binh and we're looking for some fruits. A fruit that smells funny. It's spiky and it kind of tastes like funky onions sometimes for some people. Yes that's right we're going for a durian in this local market. You ready honey? I'm ready. Well actually I'm not ready but I don't know we've had durian now in I think the Philippines. A few places. In Thailand. Yeah. So we figure now it's time to try it in Vietnam. When I was having it in the Philippines I was like getting used to it. I guess it's the best word. Yeah I would say so. We haven't had enough of it to know if we like really love it or hate it. I mean you like it better than I do I think. Yeah. But we have to we have to try it out every once and again so we're going to do that today. Yeah. I can already see I can see one across the street too. Oh yeah they're they're right there. We also asked the AI overlords to give us a general ballpark on pricing so we're not going into this completely blind but if they're trying to charge us over a hundred thousand per kilogram we're walking away or having to barter. Yeah I don't think I've been to this market either. I know you have on your channel. Yeah. Nice to check out too. It's always cool to check out a market. There's a lot of them in Saigon. A little a little claustrophobic down that aisle. Looks a little a little tight. Okay so it looks like it's probably going to be more like clothes hats that type of thing and then maybe the outside area has more fruit. I do know some of these mornings are hustling in the morning like in the morning time. This one still seems like it's kicking a little bit but maybe in the morning it'd be more busy. This is the food court. Oh wow let's take a walk through here. Yeah. Yeah see a lot of these shops are closing up so this is classic us come in the morning. Sonny could you imagine we're going for the durian across the street because we can't I know right. They have a lot of different options for like root vegetables. Taking a nap right now. Oh look shelves. Some goodies. Jelly. Basil and everything. I'm literally looking for just a jelly seller. I'm so excited. What do you want? I really love these little jellies. Yeah. Normally I'm by myself and it's a lot easier to maneuver but when you have a bigger group of people, even two, it gets a little bit cluster. I think she's only got the two that I'm interested in. I think this is grass jelly. Yeah that's grass jelly. Yeah. That's also really good too. So all my little quails hiding in this water and that's why it's a little funny. So Chase and I at home we like to make um jelly desserts. So we have coconut milk, canned coconut milk and all you do is literally put sweetener in it and then you just put in jellies. It's the easiest thing ever and it's so good. Come on. Hopefully it doesn't leak. I'll put it in another bag there. Okay you know what why don't we just uh walk right across the street here. Yeah we saw a It's everywhere on the other side. Let's go take a look at the prices. I'm sure they're going to be a good big pricing over here. Okay you just have to find someone who wants to barter or bargain. Okay so there's a bunch of different types. Remember this mung fung is an expensive one. Okay. So let's see. They have all the different pricing for everything other than the durian right there. She doesn't look too eager to help so we'll see if we buy from her. Well yeah I guess we could check someone else out first. Did we see it over there or was this the one? Yeah. She didn't want to help us so we're gonna try somewhere else. I wonder if it's right up there. Oh no. Okay maybe she's the durian seller of the street. No there was one the first one I was right on the corner. Okay. Of this street. It's cool. Look at all the pretty flowers. Oh they are pretty. All right right across from where we started the video. Shelby spotted durian man. It looks like they have tags and everything. Yes we just need one. All right. That's pretty convenient if you don't say so myself. I know. What one looks the best? This looks kind of good. That one. Yeah. Like this one. This one you can kind of see. I don't know this one looks kind of good. Hello. Can we make another durian? Yeah. Okay just that one. This one. So this is super heavy. This is basically what they look like. I don't even know how they chop these open. Oh I know. This is so sharp. I don't know if you guys can tell. That's why we're buying the pre-done one like this because when I got it in the Philippines the last time. Holy. It was uh brutal to eat. So having it like in this single serving is much better for us. I'm so excited about this. This is really convenient. Oh my goodness. I'll let you do the honors honey. I don't want to do the honors. I'm scared. I'm gonna let you do the honors first. Hell no. Yeah. You would be the funnest reaction of the bunch. I don't know man. 70,000 for a stinky durian. So if you don't know what durian is, it's the king of fruits. Yeah the king. The creme de la creme. What everybody loves. Uh again we've tried it a couple times. I'm not quite sure that we agree. Chase what do we think? This should be the king of the fruit. The other other one that looks like it. It's uh jackfruit. Jackfruit. I think jackfruit deserves that title. But it looks like this and there's little pods inside and it's kind of like mushy a little bit. It's a custard. It's supposed to be like a custardy fruit. Yeah. Um so it's like a little slimy. So I think this is going to be like my third time trying it. I'm a couple feet away and I can smell this thing very profusely. So look at this. And it's yeah it's the world's stinkiest fruit. They tell you not to put this in hotel rooms and stuff like that and your condos. They're like if you're going to eat it, eat it somewhere else because the smell is really hard to get out of things. Oh what's that? I guess we could try at the same time. Sure. Are you ready? Oh don't smell it. Oh the texture I tell you. The flavor though it's not bad. You know? This one's actually pretty good. Are we getting used to durian? I think so. But it's like very mushy. It's really mushy. I did see on the AI when I was looking for like fruit vendors and stuff they said that the street ones like that sell for cheaper but they might be more ripe. So I think we're hitting a position where this is a very ripe durian. I think we're hitting a position where this is ready to eat. It's good. It is. I actually feel like this is probably the best one I've had. I like it. Maybe that's the secret. You have to buy them in the container because then you know what's ready to eat. The one that you crack open you don't know if that's good or not. You're taking a gapple. It's kind of tingling my tongue and I still do taste the onions. I really do. It's subtle though. It's like a subtle onion flavor. Can you get the seed out? Yeah. I'm getting there. Crazy. I'll show it soon. It's like an orange color. Oh yeah I can see it here. I'm unsure. Okay here we go. Look at the fibrous strings. This probably looks disgusting. Look at that. There's a pod in there. Yep. I don't hate it. No this is a good one. How do you explain the texture? It's okay. This sounds terrible. It's like a pudding. Like a slimy banana. Like okay like if avocado and banana texture-wise had a baby. But then you also have the stringy fibrous stuff going on. Yeah like that. And you can eat the skin and stuff too right? The skin? What skin? Like this. Can't eat it all except the pod. I don't like it. I think you can boil the pods like the jackfruit pods as well. You know what somebody told us? Somebody told us that you you start eating durian and the more you eat it the more you like it. Yeah I'm kind of getting in the danger zone because it's one of the most expensive fruits and I don't want to like it. But I'm starting to like it. I'm moving over to the shade. We're eating in the hot spot there. The rest of this durian can come behind this pole here. Well yeah I don't know third or fourth time's a charm I guess for durian. Yeah and durian is probably probably the most expensive fruit. One of them. That's what I was just saying. And it's a very high calorie fruit as well. So it's like eating uh nature's dessert. Yeah a lot of people like durian in things too. Like we see durian a lot in the like as I was telling you guys earlier. Avocado ice cream. They put sometimes they put durian on top. But the jelly the jelly desserts with the jellies and the coconut milk sometimes they'll also put some durian in there. Really popular in Vietnam. But yeah that's I'm constantly so I wonder what kind we got. We need to go ask them. I was actually just wondering the same thing because I want to know what durian this is. As if you're gonna buy it again. I got sweat dripping down my back right now. It's a hot day. It's a hot day. My hands smell like durian. Your hands are gonna smell like durian. Look at your hands. Oh yeah. Crazy crazy crazy. Nature's perfume too. And this is why I'm glad that we tried it a couple times. Because now we know. Well the different varieties too. Like there's so many different kinds of durian that they're not gonna all taste the same. Some might smell different. That sort of thing. So whatever one we got. Vietnam. All right. So now I think we're gonna go check out the rest of the market because we pretty much just grabbed the durian and go. We didn't really walk through it. I don't know how much else there is in this market. Kind of seemed quiet so. It's a morning market. Yeah we'll see. And it's the afternoon. Yeah. You know what would be nice? Just like a lounging tank top. There's a lot. When we left Canada I tried to not pack a lot and that's something that I regret not bringing is just like a tank top that I can throw on. I think Shelby needs to leave Canada with more so she doesn't leave Japan with more. This is true. Japan actually screwed me. That's what happened. I like how many different colors they have. But Vietnamese ladies wear these as like outfits and I think they're the cutest thing ever. Yeah. Like I don't know if I could rock that but I love the look of it. Look at these cute little jammies. But you know what the thing is though I bet? Is that you're gonna have like a nice size shirt. Like a shirt that would fit me and then I bet these are gonna just suffocate my waist. Oh it's a matching set. Yeah they look just like. One size fits all. This is a 2XL. Oh. All right. Yeah. That's a 2XL. Look at this cute little thing. Yeah I just like I don't know if I'm in like teddy bears and bows at the moment for now. They have like all the set for you. Like you can wear the whole thing. They probably have the shorts, the shirt and the headband. Don't trip. I know. Chase is walking backwards right now. Through a Vietnamese market. That's that's dangerous. Yeah we have the wet market. You know what I actually like to see in a wet market? I will tell you this. I like to see that they're gone and clean. Gone and clean by 12. Because you probably don't want to go to a wet market after. In the afternoon. Yeah. We found that one out. Back in the day we used to always talk about it. Our Thailand squid. Won't go into it too much detail but yeah that was afternoon squid. Yeah hello. Any that you're eyeballing? I will say there was a scene earlier while I was looking at clips that we cut short. This lady literally came up to me like basically took the clip out of my hand and was hovering over me and she had the most hostile energy. I don't know why. And then when I walked away and I didn't buy anything she laughed. So I don't I don't I don't I don't understand. That was like not a great experience. So now I'm kind of scared to look at clips now. Oh the aroma. Oh that aroma. Stop breathing out of your nose. But it's healthy to breathe out of your nose. Beansprouts. Yeah huge bags of beansprouts here. Bulk order. Where are you heading? I don't know. Oh that's cool. Fresh noodles right here. Fresh noodles. Yeah we got the heart, the hoof. Pig leg. Yeah that's what I want honey. That's what I want. Pig leg. No no no no because you got to get the locals to cook it deliciously. So you order that stuff because they can braise it and they can cook it amazing. Could you imagine if we cooked a pig leg? Is that our wood ear mushroom that we love? Right there. Oh that looks like wood ear. Looks like the wood ear. One of my favorites. You can get little packs too. Yeah that's cool. Crystal. Yeah. Oh let me show that. Like they have the really raw and then they've kind of purified it a little bit there. This way? Yeah. You got to be careful with your little feet. Yeah they got the little drainage gutters. Oh those are prawns looks like. Yeah looks good. And they have it on ice. Lots of ice. Yeah yeah. Oh the damn mangosteens. Is it de-potted yet? I don't know. I don't think so. It smells really good. Yeah. You know and we need the actual king of fruits right here. Oh that's good price. Yeah. And apparently you guys you can take the seeds and eat the seeds. You can boil the seeds. Yeah. Thank you. So nice. Come on. Oh I will forever be looking for those mangosteens. Thailand. I know. We've done enough jackfruit reviews on my channel and our channel. It tastes like bubblegum. You'll find it. Sweet bubblegum. It's so good. Yeah. Highly highly recommend. One of the most recommended fruits on this channel. Saw this cute little side street. We're going to take a little waddle down. Yeah it's really nice and the heat has dropped down like 10 degrees going in here. Yeah when you're between these um so yeah that market honestly if you want fresh produce and meats that's that's pretty much there. And maybe a little earlier. Yeah yeah exactly. Start before lunch time. I think it starts at like 6 a.m. A lot of those markets I'm like I didn't open my eyes until like 30. I think four or five actually. They're they're crazy. They're they're up before the sun. Yeah I checked the the google maps says six though. Okay. I didn't know if all the sellers would. Yeah okay. Have Yeah it's just closing in down here. This is where you um go to get a little break from the city though. It's kind of nice like you're in a market. It's busy. There's motorbikes and then you just pick like any alley and it just gives you a bit of like peace. Well I think we've had enough of that morning market right now. Everything's kind of closing down. We got fruit. We tried the durian. And what else have you? Jelly. Oh Shelby found a bunch of her delicious jellies. How could you forget? That was the best purchase. I know she makes these. All right we'll leave them alone. Guard dog's doing his job. Shelby makes me these delicious jelly coconut desserts every night so I don't know how I forgot that.
