AI GeneratedThis video provides a crucial swing tip focused on improving impact by optimizing hip rotation and leg movement. The instructor emphasizes the importance of straightening the left leg and hip during the downswing to prevent early extension, maintain posture, and create necessary space for the club to strike the ball cleanly.
I'm going to share with you guys a swing tip which completely
changed my game and which I think can completely
change yours as well. Now this is a swing change
which alters impact. So the moment that club face
strikes that ball away sweetly. So during the backswing the shoulders
rotate away and during the through swing the hips lead and turn towards the
target. But just turning those hips towards the
target, that's a tough mechanism for a lot of people to understand.
When does it start? How much do we turn? Do we turn the right hip? Do we lead with
the left? What do we do? Also one of the things I see with
lessons when they struggle to rotate their hips
is they move them towards the ball and towards the target. Now this is known as
an early extension move. It's very very common and if you try and
turn your hips more it's only going to get worse. Now the
movement as a golfer comes through the ball we want that left knee
to be moving out. We want it to be moving towards the target.
But during the downswing this will remain flexed
until the arms reach about parallel with the ground.
And here is the absolute key. We want left leg
and left hip to straighten as the club comes through impact.
What this has the added advantage of doing is if you can manage to get that
left knee and that left hip straightening and moving like this
you'll see how it also keeps the right shoulder quite low
and it also keeps the angle within my posture. It's very
hard to straighten that left leg while moving the hips forward.
It's a lot easier to move them back and straight.
A very simple way to work on it. Just take a half swing,
lead with the knee, straighten as the club moves through.
Lead, straighten. And you can see just how much room
there's created for impact. It also allows you to get the weight forward
onto the left side to clear those hips because as that left leg straightens it
pulls the hip back and out of the way. It really is a feeling that makes
some of this golf swing's most difficult moves quite simple but it will take a
bit of practice. I'll tell you what I've got another absolute
back and straight at it. That actually could go in.
