Bio-Rad's Chromatography Support Scientist, Artur Stanczak discusses the services and support offered by Bio-Rad's support scientists. These services include assistance with method development and troubleshooting, ensuring that customers have the necessary tools to overcome any bioprocessing challenges they may encounter. By offering a range of resources and support, Bio-Rad aims to help their customers achieve success in downstream process development. Additionally, customers can access a resin

A representative from BioRag Amplitrees discusses their role in supporting customers with chromatography resins. They provide technical advice, on-site support, and a variety of downstream process development services, including resin screening and application lab studies, to optimize purification processes for better product quality and economic efficiency.
So can you tell us what you do at BioRag Amplitrees?
Yeah, sure. So in short words, I do support customers with whatever needs they have
related to chromatography resins we provide. I give them advice and recommendations regarding our
resins, our processes and the application that they use.
Also, what is the kind of second part of my duties is traveling to customers because
we do also support customers on their side. So I do travel doing packings, doing seminars,
as well as performing some experimental work in their laboratory if they wish us to do so.
So my work is very complex. I do really enjoy what I'm doing at BioRag, especially the fact
that I can have an influence and I can help customers in their work in the downstream
purification field. So what downstream process development services can you offer to your
customers? Yeah, so we have quite a wide range of services we can provide to our customers.
One of them, the most generic is our literature, our internal resources, which we do have on our
website and this is available to everyone. And yeah, I advise and encourage all scientists
to go there and see if they can learn anything from this literature. The second service we can
offer is the simple samples. So samples for resin screening, samples in different formats,
from 96 well plates to robo columns, up to like one or five milliliter columns. This is all what
we can provide to our customers. They can contact us in order to kind of refine these resins required
for screening because they can also leverage on our experience how to approach to the screening.
Maybe we can advise or recommend some other resins which can be more suitable. Last but not least is
the our application lab, which we have in the Munich area. So for customers, we can do screening
studies, process development studies, as well as, I don't know, resin aging studies, whatever customers
needs to be performed, it can be done there. So how can you help scientists that are starting new
projects or need assistance with their current downstream process? So yeah, I would definitely
encourage every scientist to contact us if they have any specific question for the resins
or for the development process. As a start, we need to know what is the problem or
what is the application. So narrowing down the resin selection for this particular
application. The key is to understand what are the customer needs, because every single application
is unique and needs to be treated like that. So I would want to learn from the customer what is
the specific problem or what is the key element they want to achieve from this purification process
and focus on that. So why is it important to screen chromatography resin? Yeah, I believe it's super
important to screen chromatography resin for numerous reasons. This is one of the most critical
raw materials used in the bioprocess. So it's key to select the right one. By selecting the right
resin, you get the most optimal operating conditions for your molecule and therefore
your quality attributes are maintained and your product can be released at the end. So it is
important to have the best suited resin also for economical purposes, because it can give you
higher DBC and therefore the highest productivity. What it earns, it will improve the economics of
your process and give you advantages over your competitors.
