Hi, I'm Grace, and today we're here to take a closer look at a brand new addition to Triumph's
modern classics family, the all-new Scrambler 400X. Joining Triumph's class-defining Scrambler
lineup, the 400X takes its rugged design cues from its Scrambler 900 and 1200 stablemates,
with an off-road pedigree that goes back to the first factory Scramblers of the 1950s. Fluid,
easy handling and an emphasis on fun are built in, together with class-leading capability,
rider-focused technology and category-leading quality and detail. So let's have a closer look
at some of the exciting features of the Scrambler 400X. Developed from the ground up,
the all-new 398cc single-cylinder engine delivers Triumph's signature characterful,
compelling and responsive power delivery. The engine delivers 37.5Nm of torque and 40PS of
peak power for class-leading capability with plenty of character and feel. The bike's ultra-low
emissions far exceed the Euro 5 requirements, while retaining that rich, deep Triumph exhaust
note from the stylish and contemporary upswept silencer. Traditional touches like the distinctive
finned cylinder head, concealed liquid cooling and Triumph's trademark black powder-coated engine
casings combine to deliver that unmistakable Triumph modern classics style. Ride-by-wire
throttle ensures a super smooth and manageable power delivery, while Triumph's advanced switchable
traction control improves safety on challenging road surfaces and when riding in varied weather
conditions. Triumph's Torque Assist Clutch also features on the Scrambler 400X, giving a light to
clutch action with great lever feel all the way through the slick 6-speed gearbox and Slip Assist
function for increased rider confidence. The Scrambler 400X has an all-new dedicated
Scrambler chassis setup with geometry suited to its all-terrain intentions and suspension
fine-tuned to give precise, agile and intuitive handling. With a high specification that includes
43mm big piston front forks and a rear monoshock, both with 150mm of travel,
the latter adjustable for preload and featuring an external reservoir. The Scrambler's commanding
upright riding position is delivered by a seat height of 835mm combined with the bike's slim
waist to deliver assured feet-down manoeuvring and supreme off-road confidence. Wide handlebars
and flat high-grip foot pegs with removable rubbers deliver the perfect riding position
for both seated and standing riding styles, while a longer wheelbase and 19-inch front
wheel enhances off-road capability. Top quality Metzeler Karoo street tyres are fitted to the
lightweight cast aluminium wheels as standard. These excellent all-rounders deliver superb
confidence across a variety of surfaces in wet or dry conditions. A powerful four-piston radial
caliper and 320mm disc up front and a single piston floating caliper and 230mm disc at the
rear combine to offer superb braking feel and linear stopping power. As well as switchable
traction control, the Scrambler 400X also has the facility to disable the ABS system for both wheels
for uninterrupted rider control off-road. Accentuating the Scrambler 400X's all-road
attitude are lots of purposeful and practical features including protection for the headlight,
radiator and sump guard, as well as hand guards, a handlebar brace with pad and a longer front mud
guard. Moving on to the new bike's rider-focused technology and starting with the instruments.
The classic single-dial design is easy to read with a large analog speedometer and integrated
LCD display, which features a clear digital tachometer, fuel gauge that shows range remaining,
average and current fuel consumption, a prominent gear indicator, plus an odometer, clock,
service indicator and two trips. The display is also pre-wired to display the status of the
heated grips, should you wish to add this accessory. Navigating these functions is simple
and intuitive via the neat handlebar-mounted scroll button. An immobiliser is built into the
key to help prevent theft and there's even a USB-C socket conveniently located on the side
of the instruments, so charging accessories such as smartphones and navigation systems
couldn't be easier. The Scrambler 400X has all LED lighting. The powerful headlight features a
distinctive daytime running light with Triumph DRL signature, while the tail light also includes a
modern light signature together with moulded light guides and Triumph branding. Slim LED indicators
complete the package. Visibility is excellent, both in terms of seeing and being seen by other road
users. On the tank, you'll find the distinctive Scrambler tank stripe set against three colour
options, giving the Scrambler 400X a completely different look. You can choose from this matte
khaki green, phantom black and carnival red and all feature the famous Triumph triangle badge with
rubber knee pads to offer style and protection. And to customise your new Scrambler, there are more
than 25 dedicated genuine Triumph accessories already available. You can choose from luggage
racks to tank bags to engine protection bars and wind-beating screens and alarms. There's a genuine
Triumph accessory to suit every rider. And the best bit, they're all designed by Triumph in-house, so
not only do you have the peace of mind that they'll fit properly and suit your new bike perfectly,
they're also covered by Triumph's two-year unlimited mileage warranty. So there you have it,
the all-new Scrambler 400X, incorporating iconic design DNA, class-leading performance,
purposeful all-road capability and the very latest in rider-focused technology.
