AI GeneratedLucas Urbiza provides a behind-the-scenes tour of the Rogue Van Company shop, showcasing the production of RV-certified Odyssey vans. He highlights the transition to CNC machining for precision, upgraded materials for durability, and the customizable nature of the builds, ranging from the compact Odyssey Lite to the full-sized original Odyssey.
Hey guys, it's Lucas Urbiza. I'm here at Rogue Van Company in the original Odyssey,
and today I'm going to take you guys in the shop and show you the vans that we currently have in
production. Since all of the Odysseys at Rogue are RV certified, the process does change just
a little bit. Everything is actually going to be better quality. Everything is put into the
CNC machine and cut on the computer for quality control, and then just the systems are upgraded
overall, and everything is going to be removable and accessible for any warranty issues that come
down the line. All right, so I'm in the lot, and you can see the vans that are in queue,
but let's take a look in the shop. So here we're on the production line, and this is going to be
the Odyssey Lite, which is on the 144 chassis, and you can already see that we have framing,
insulation, and wiring done, and we're already onto the walls for the bed lifts in the rear.
Excuse the noise. We do have the CNCs running in the background. This is an active shop. There's
a lot going on here. Here in the rear, this is just going to be the lounge and the bed lift area,
and then in the front, we have the kitchen here, the same corner shower over here,
and the closet. So right here, we have the Odyssey Lite. This is on the 144 chassis,
and currently, we have already gotten framing, insulation, wires ran, and then we started doing
some of the bulkhead walls. So we have the partition up, and then the walls in the rear
that are going to hold the bed lift. We also got our paneling figured out. This is actual walnut,
and this is a soft backer board, which is going to help reduce sound, and this is super lightweight
compared to what I've done in the past, which is solid hardwood. Stepping in really quick,
you can see we've also upgraded the partition material to this hex ply, and the actual garage
is going to be made out of hex ply, which is insanely durable compared to the neoprene that
I was doing before. There's lots of wires hanging, as you can see as well, but you can get the gist
of what this is going to feel like overall. So the way that we're doing insulation in these
Odysseys is actually pretty unique, and it's definitely an upgrade as well. The Havlock
wool alone has a very strong R-value, but we're actually allowed to add this foam, and it creates
a pocket of air, and that actually increases the R-value and the efficiency of this insulation. So
that's a major upgrade that's going into all of these vans. Obviously, we have a lot of wires
over here. There's a lot going on, but everything is professionally built and inspected here at
Rogue Van Company, so just ignore that for a second. I'm actually here to show you this panel,
and clearly this can only be done on a CNC, and this maintains the overall structure,
helps with wire organization, and the biggest factor is that so much weight gets taken out
of this material when you can take out all of these spots in the middle of the boards,
and it looks cool, so. Now we're in the original Odyssey. This is the 170 chassis,
and you can see the color of the laminate is different, and also the edge banding,
and I was able to convince them to do the edge banding in this one because this was a big,
big addition for them as a shop to do, but thank God we have this super clean,
real walnut edge banding on all of the cabinets. Another cool addition that we're doing in these
models is this piece right here. This actually is going to cover the whole bed. Normally,
I just leave it open, but with their CNCs and making everything so perfect,
they're able to do stuff like this and join them together in a really seamless way.
Just behind the passenger seat, we also relocated the air conditioning up here,
and now we have so much extra bench space for storage, and this just makes so much sense because
you can still use the headliner to the left. Air conditioner is going to be here,
blow through the garage, and come right out of a port to the main part high up in the van
so that it can cool down the whole space. In the original Odyssey, if you remember,
I have hardwood floors, and what most of our customers are doing is actually using the lawn
seal vinyl plank. This is just a look at what the color is going to look like for the Odyssey
specifically if you go ahead with these floors. You can see it runs the whole entire width and
length of the van as a solid piece. If you ever drop any water or liquids anywhere on this floor,
it'll stay in place. It doesn't have anywhere for it to go, and that's a huge advantage if
you're going to put a lot of wear and tear on your van. Here I am in another Odyssey,
and all of these are built to order. As you can see here, we actually have Odyssey light
color scheme in the 170 Odyssey layout, so we can switch the color schemes within reason
on these custom builds. This is the flooring that's in the Odyssey light put into the Odyssey,
which is really cool. One of our most popular upgrades in the Odysseys are the heated floors,
and here you can see we have the pipes porting out, and we're going to house all of that stuff
right in here. One of the very first things we do aside from exterior upgrades is the upholstery,
and one crazy thing that Rogue does in a good way is they actually sew all of these seams. I've never
seen this with builders, but this is a sewed seam, and that's super clean and takes this to a whole
nother level. There's also foam under here, and you're going to find that throughout the whole
build. That is also in these bump outs, so all of these bump outs are professionally upholstered
and as clean as you could possibly get them. Another big upgrade that was done in this specific
van is this super specific pop-top tent. This is the location that we're able to fit it in the
Odyssey designs, so when the bed is down, you can actually pop through into an additional
fully insulated two-person tent that's on top of the room. So we have currently sold 11 Odysseys,
and this one behind me here is definitely the coolest exterior-wise. This client went full
blown on the exterior mods. We have 37-inch tires, we have boxes on the roof, full 360 cameras with
motion lights, and these boxes, all this crazy stuff. So you can take this as far as you want,
everything is possible, and any of these upgrades are up to you. Another cool thing that they do
here at Rogue are the windows. So these are upgraded to awning-style windows, and you just
twist this, and this is opening up your window at a tilt, and you can have it open when it's raining
and still have airflow ventilating your space. I'm here with Robert, he is head of design and
engineering at Rogue, and we have the CAD model up for the Odysseys. Why don't you tell us a little
bit about how you made this happen? Yeah, so I worked with you, got all your dimensions from
your van, and drew it up into a 3D model so that we could accurately reproduce at a very high
quality model of your van. Right now we're going to take a look at the actual CAD file, and when
you purchase an Odyssey through us, you're actually going to be able to see this in the beginning
stages of your build, and choose between some colors and materials. That's going to be it for
this video. I hope you guys enjoyed the behind-the-scenes process here at Rogue Vans with
the Odysseys. If you guys want to learn more, I have the videos linked below that show you a little
bit more about the original Odyssey build. If you're interested in a build of your own, feel
free to contact me. I have that information below, or stop by our location here in Carlsbad, San Diego,
and we can walk you through.
