Video Summary
AI GeneratedThe video reviews seven highly-rated MacBook accessories from Amazon, each priced under $20. The creator tests these budget-friendly gadgets—including sleeves, hubs, stands, and cleaners—to determine if they provide professional-level utility without compromising the safety of the laptop.
I just bought 7 of the cheapest but best reviewed MacBook gadgets on Amazon. Each one costing less
than $20. Together they pull in 4.8 stars across 55.000 reviews. So let's put them all to the test
and if they pass, this means you can get a pro level Mac setup on a broke budget. Although
broke budget shouldn't mean broken MacBook. So I spent just under $20 on this laptop sleeve
that almost 10.000 people swear by. It's clearly doing something right. I mean just by the fact
it comes with a matching tech pouch for chargers and cables already makes it feel like great value.
Now the sleeve itself ticks all the boxes too. The insides ridiculously soft with a
premium feeling microfiber lining. There are thick drop protection bumpers all around plus
a small ridge at the top keeping the zipper away from the MacBook so it can't wear down the sides.
You just don't get that on most sleeves. Oh yeah and it's water resistant. MacBooks dry.
Though after using it day to day, two things I'm not a fan of. For starters the outside material
isn't very pleasant. It feels a bit stiff and cheap which to be fair it probably must be for
this price. But also it's not the most elegant looking sleeve and does add some bulk to your
That said, I got the 13-inch version for my 14-inch MacBook Pro so definitely go for a size
down with the new MacBooks. So yeah, I'd adjust that rating down just a tiny bit to 4 out of 5
stars. Oh and we'll be stuffing this one with all the other accessories that are coming up.
The biggest no-brainer probably being a USB-C hub. But what's the best one? Well,
in the budget space you need to be careful. All those shiny numbers like USB 3.0 and 3.1
don't always mean what you think. Plus cheap hubs can often overheat and throttle. But
the Ugreen RevoDock 6-in-1 has none of these issues. Now on paper it sounds almost too good
to be true. It often drops to just $14 on Amazon which is why. Because the specs you get here are
normally way over that $20 mark. Three things that make it feel way more premium than the price.
For starters, you've got two USB-A and another two USB-C ports. And normally at this price,
you'd hope for at least USB 3.0, so 5 gigabits per second. These go all the way up to 10. Second,
the HDMI port can push up to 4K at 60Hz while most budget hubs cut that in half to 30. And third,
it supports 100W of passthrough charging. Which is a big deal because if you connect
loads of power-hungry peripherals, hubs without power delivery can sometimes just give up. Here,
you can keep both the hub fully powered and charge up your MacBook. Now that's on paper,
but in my testing, all promises were kept. I could even plug in my SSD and edit videos of it
with no problems whatsoever. So yeah, for this price, I think that's our first solid 5 out of 5
stars. Though there's one obvious reason you should stay away from this. If you need an SD
card slot, because it simply doesn't have one. But you know which one does? The Benfys 7-in-1
hub sitting at just under $16. For this price, I didn't expect this soft little carry bag in the
box. This already makes it feel quite premium. The hub itself gives you USB 3.0 5 gigabits per
second across 3 USB-A ports. So about half the speed of the Ugreen. Which honestly,
is still perfectly fine and not even guaranteed at this price point. What you don't get is a USB-C
data port. This single USB-C here is only for 100W of power delivery. But just like the Ugreen,
you do get HDMI with support for 4K at 60Hz. And an SD and TF card reader at a decent
160MB per second. Nothing to exactly brag about, but better than anything else at this price point.
Plus in my testing, the SD card slot reached even slightly higher speeds than advertised. Honestly,
I'd leave it at a well-deserved 4.5 stars. The only reason it's not a full 5, being that there's
no more than a single USB-C port just for power delivery. But other than that, we'll leave it in
here. Though the most annoying thing about these dongles probably being the dongling. And this
whole accessory chain building up at the side of your MacBook. That's why I was insanely intrigued
by the idea of this stickable accessory pouch by Afterplug. Basically being a parking spot for your
external drives plus a few extra tricks. It's $15, comes in 10 color combinations and you stick it
onto your MacBook. Now, couple of things I really like about it. First off, it feels super premium,
quite stretchy, but just snug enough to keep everything you store in it secure. And you
notice right away, this thing was made to hold one of these external SSDs. It just fits perfectly.
The point being, in theory, you could cheap out on storage when buying your MacBook,
get one of these and always have your SSD with you without it awkwardly dangling off the side.
Plus, it's got two pockets, so you can fit another cable in there or get creative and throw in stuff
like an AirTag or bottle opener for that Afterwork beer. Just brainstorming a little.
Now, supposedly, this thing should be reusable and come off clean when peeling it off.
But honestly, I'm not convinced because right now, it's holding on like it's glued to its line.
We'll leave it on for a bit and try removing it later in the video. For now, it's an easy 5 out
of 5 for me. But if you see me at the Apple Store later buying a replacement MacBook,
let's just say that rating's getting revised. Now, I'm not going to waste 10 minutes talking
about how an adjustable laptop stand is a must for your neck and back half. You've seen that
video already. But if you're buying one on a budget, make it this one by Soundance. Because,
let me ask you, what would you normally expect from a cheap stand? Well, certainly a name like
Soundance. But you'd also expect it to be wobbly and feather light, right? But here's the thing,
for just $17, this one generally surprised me. The moment you pick it up, you realize
this stand is rock solid. It's all metal with soft silicone padding on the top for scratch
protection. Plus, it's way heavier than it looks. Adjusting the height is super simple,
in theory, by just pulling up or pushing down. Though it does demand more upper body strength
than you'd usually get from office work alone. Good thing is, you can always loosen the screws
to make the stand easier to adjust. What's more, it comes in 3 colors to match your MacBook and,
I don't know, I just love it when things match. The only criticism I have is that these sides
could be a bit smoother. Other than that, favorite product so far, super basic but high quality,
I'd agree and keep the rating at 4.6 stars. This one's not gonna fit in here, but we'll just put
it on the side. But we can go even cheaper. For just $11.99, you can get this insanely portable
laptop stand by Ivono. And I'm not kidding, when I first discovered this, I couldn't believe it
would actually be good. I mean, you can throw this in any laptop sleeve, tech bag or even in
your pocket. And the setup takes mere seconds. You just pull it apart, unfold, and you've got
6 different height levels. It's way more stable than it might look and can raise your MacBook
by up to 6 inches or 15cm, which to be fair isn't huge, it's still not eye level, but better than
nothing. Although you can type with your MacBook on this stand and I heard some people actually
preferred, I'd recommend using this with an external keyboard as it's just way more comfortable.
Over 20.000 people say 4.6 stars. Honestly, I'd push it up to 5. It does exactly what you'd
expect it to be doing. I've seen this next gadget on TikTok and before you type away in the comments,
yes, it's expensive for what it is, but we wanted premium gadgets under 20 and it fits
right into that category. The Woosh Screen Cleaner for $14. Now, just to give you some
context on why a screen cleaner is hyped on TikTok and costs this much, this is apparently
the screen cleaner they use or have used in every single Apple store worldwide to clean all the
screens touched by thousands of people. I mean, Woosh doesn't exactly make it a secret on their
product listing page. Oh, and that's the guy who invented the whole thing. I mean, have you ever
seen a screen cleaner kit that says, meet the doctor in the listing? I heard that this tiny
can last up to a year, so if it's actually Apple quality, it might be worth it. But this screen
is not ready for testing. Yeah, that's better. Now, never spray this thing directly onto your
MacBook screen. Just a tiny bit onto their microfiber cloth, which by the way, super nice,
feels soft and premium. And then wipe it down.
Yeah, I mean, good wipes without smudges and you don't have to go over as many times,
I guess, as with other cleaners, but you have to decide for yourself if it's
worth the price. For me, I'd just keep that high rating. Good work, doctor.
Time for the rip-off test. Hopefully I won't be the one that got ripped off. Okay,
I'll just slide a credit card under here to get a good grip. Oh, Tim Cook wouldn't like this. Or
maybe he would if I need to buy another MacBook after this. Yeah, it does come off. And there we
go. Nice. Though I'd still adjust that down to 4 out of 5, because it could come off slightly
smoother. But honestly, I think I would stick that back on. But there are also accessories
you should never touch for your MacBooks and also your own health. You'll find out why in
this video here. Alright, I'll see you there. Thank you so much for watching and have an amazing day.
