All right, all right.
Finally got the ultimate trim.
And this beautiful red color.
I gotta look it up,
but I think it was like fire red or something like that.
Has this beautiful metallic flake to it in the sun.
They still didn't go through the whole truck.
They didn't wash it or nothing.
They just got it yesterday night.
So I came here as soon as I could to take a video
because I never recorded an ultimate,
but this is an ultimate.
So this is top of the line for the VNL.
You can see with all the chrome,
the whole front grill is all chrome.
It's shiny chrome here,
but this is more like a brushed aluminum.
Looks really nice.
And it goes all the way to the bottom like that.
Looks really, really nice in this red color.
Walk around a little bit.
I'm gonna go inside
because it's really cold today outside.
Warm this truck up a little bit,
and then we can go outside again.
This has all the aerodynamic package.
All these flares.
Like I said, they still didn't go through it.
So they got to put the mud flaps on.
Take this off.
That was just during transport.
And this one does have the eight bag air setup.
Things cross, what they call it.
You got one right here, one right there.
And their whole suspension is completely changed
for the Volvo's VNLs.
You can see right there.
What do you guys think of this color?
It's kind of, when it's not in the sun,
it has this burgundy kind of look to it.
But in the sun, it pops, so it becomes like super red.
I like it.
With the chrome accents, it looks pretty good.
Like if you go here on the other side,
in the sun, it completely changes color.
It becomes this bright fire red.
All right.
Like I said, I'll go outside.
We'll go through some stuff I wanted to show.
Here's a quick look underneath the carriage.
Still spanking new and clean in there.
Look at that.
Let's go inside, because it's cold.
Let me warm up, and then we'll go back outside,
because I want to show you some stuff outside too.
Woo, and like I said, so this is the Ultimate.
There's different kind of colors,
different interior colors.
This one has an interesting kind of like,
starts from the black and goes like with a dotted
up to a kind of white color,
and it's throughout the whole interior, you'll see.
All right.
Like I said, this is the Ultimate.
So, there's no keys.
You get this key fob.
You get a push button start.
Put your foot on the brake, and just like in a car.
It does have actually the key in case your battery dies.
You just push this out, and the key pops out, I guess.
Let's pick up the RPMs.
There we go.
So yeah, this is the Ultimate.
So you do get your nice seats,
and I did recline the seat back to show you guys
with this new setup design,
because a lot of Volvos have the full cabinet
here in the back, and you can't really put your seat back,
but with eliminating that,
look how much of a recline you get
if you push your seat forward.
You can almost like sleep in that seat.
That's pretty nice.
This one has the kind of a wood trim design to it
compared to the other ones.
I don't remember if it was just black trim
or it was carbon fiber.
This one's a little more classic look to it.
And like I said, you can see how that whole thing
throughout the truck.
Let me open this door.
You can see it goes from black
to kind of this faded white,
and it's through the whole cab.
Let me fold this seat down so you can see.
See, it's on the walls too.
Interesting kind of design.
But like I said, they have all kinds of different options.
So this one does have the table and the seat.
Pick that up.
It does have your mattress, fold-down Murphy bed,
top bunk.
Like I said, they just got it
so they didn't go through the whole truck.
They have a lot of stuff in it.
I still have to mount some stuff on.
One thing I did want to show,
this table kind of folds away like this.
It does have access to your storage.
You can have access to your storage outside
or from the inside.
I didn't know you could do that with the seat,
but I saw this red thing sticking out,
so I just pushed on it.
And there you go.
Oh, hold on.
You gotta push this down.
Hold on a second.
This down.
Then pull on the red and you pick up.
There's your access to your storage
if you don't want to go outside.
Same thing on that side.
You have it right there.
And this one does have a subwoofer.
That's nice.
And I did check out their sound system, audio system.
It's really nice.
And this truck does have extra insulation.
I don't know if it's because of that,
but it sounds amazing.
Some of the stuff that I wanted to show,
I had a little more time with the system.
This one has, that's a cool feature that it has TV aux.
I'm not sure if you could hook up the aux system to your TV
and it will show on the screen,
but it does have that.
And another, it has the axle load indicator.
That's a cool feature.
Check your weight.
Calculate your parking climate, alarm clock.
I think this one has the, yeah, this one has the camera too.
So you got your camera right there.
What's the, where's the steering?
There you go.
Dynamic steering.
When I drove this truck around to the parking lot,
the steering feels so light on.
I was surprised how light.
You literally could steer just with one finger.
But then I saw this.
You could actually adjust it.
I'm assuming it's in right now in the light,
but you could put on stable, firm feel,
or you can put on responsive for curvy roads.
You can actually adjust it
and you can completely put it on a custom.
That's a really cool feature.
I've never seen that before, at least on the VNLs.
What else?
You got your tire pressure system.
The other truck had that too.
Your pressure and your temperatures.
That's a cool feature.
And your basic USB, trip computers, all that stuff.
A lot of trucks.
Settings.
You can set a lot of stuff.
Since this truck is so technology,
your audio, network, Bluetooth, that's all understandable.
But if you go into the vehicle mode settings,
you can adjust your system volumes.
I used to have a previous VNL
and my biggest complaint was it,
is the adaptive cruise control.
And I had to go to the dealership so they can adjust it
because it would beep on me all the time.
And you don't have much access.
You can make it quieter, but it'll still beep.
Here, you can completely control it.
Your safety warnings, your turn signals,
your system notifications.
You could even turn it off.
So you have your auto high beam.
You can turn that on, off.
Road sign recognizes all the road signs, I guess.
Your speed limit warnings.
Even public construction zone.
Here you go.
Here's your distant alert.
So if you click on that, there you go.
You can just completely turn off.
It will still have it in system.
It's just the alert is not gonna go off,
beeping at you like crazy.
Yeah, so stuff like that.
You can control your, I guess, energy.
Load cutoff, engine start.
I'm not even sure what that is.
So early engine start, late engine start.
Oh, that's kind of cool.
Yeah, so stuff like that.
You can completely change the settings on this truck.
It has a lot of technology in it.
It does have your autopilot control on.
One thing, another thing, interesting what I noticed.
Let's go around.
I'll show you.
Well, actually, before we do,
let me just open the window.
Maybe you can probably hear it.
You know, like a lot of trucks,
when you release your air brakes.
So the way you release your air brakes,
you just push this button right there.
You put it in drive, and off you go.
But what I wanted to show is,
let me put it back in neutral.
So I wanna apply the parking brake.
You know, you have like this blowout valve.
You won't hear nothing.
Listen, I'm gonna pull up on it right now.
That's it, there was nothing.
It just applied the air brake without any,
you know, blowout valve,
or how they have in the older models for the VNLs.
So it's a really quiet system, that's nice.
If you pull up late to a parking truck stop,
and you wanna park next to a truck,
you ain't gonna go,
pssh, pssh, and wake everybody up.
So that's kind of a cool feature.
But let's take you for a little ride here
around the parking lot.
I just wanted to show you how the steering feel.
Like literally, you just hold one finger.
Oops.
You can do it with one finger.
Look at this.
It is so light for such a big truck, heavy truck.
You can control the steering wheel with one finger.
It is so easy.
It's amazing.
Feels like a car,
except you're sitting really high on it.
I understand this is a brand new truck,
but I drove a lot of brand new trucks,
and they still feel like 1965.
This one feels like a car.
The turning radius is pretty good on it.
Really good, actually.
I'm really impressed with the steering.
That goes off here.
Seat belt warning.
How fast are we going?
So after 10 miles an hour,
your seat belt warning goes off like crazy.
Let me park it right here.
For some reason, I am so impressed with the steering.
All right, let's put it.
And reverse.
There goes your backup camera.
You could also adjust that.
You can turn it off and on,
so it won't always turn on
in case you're hooked up to a trailer,
you don't need that backup camera.
If you're doing a lot of bobtail,
drop and hook trailers,
it's a nice feature to have.
There you go.
You can't even hear the parking brake.
It's amazing.
So yeah.
Basics is the same from the other trucks I reviewed,
but with this Ultimate,
you do get the nice touches.
I do like this trim color.
And you get the standard chrome grill.
I do like that.
So it's kind of more cosmetics for the Ultimate,
but I appreciate that.
Still a little stuff like this.
Well, that one had the two, the sunshade.
Speaking of the shades,
right here on the shader has the weight.
So the total truck,
a lot of guys were asking me,
this one, the Ultimate's 20,500.
The one I reviewed before that,
it was 19,800.
So it was a little lighter.
This Ultimate is a little bit heavier.
It does have the heavier suspension setup and like that.
So yeah, 20,000 something.
I'm assuming that's with the empty tanks,
but this is kind of cool.
I wish they put this on the passenger side too.
That would kind of be nice to have on both sides.
What else?
So yeah, the seats,
I gave you a little quick preview of that.
It is leather, preferably.
It has the, where is it?
It does have the ventilated and heated option.
That's your heat.
That's your vent.
Yeah, that's nice.
For long road trips, that's nice.
This one does have pretty much all the features on it.
Adjustable suspension, your back controls.
Yeah, the seat can go pretty much any which way you want.
It's a nice leather.
This does have the technology package.
So it does have your wireless charger right here.
It has one right there.
But everything else pretty much is all the same.
Actually, this one has,
I didn't think the edge or the core,
I don't think they have the light.
I didn't see that.
So that's a nice little feature.
I guess it turns off when you close it right there.
Yeah, that's nice.
But yeah, this is a quick look again of the inside.
What do you guys think?
Would you go with this table setup
with this Murphy bed style table setup?
Or would you just get the plain mattress
without the table setup?
I kind of like the table setup.
It's nice to have that option
because you can always put the bed down.
You just don't get the reclining bed
like I did in the other review.
The bed reclines a little bit
because this is just a flat.
You got your standard fridge, storage.
Yeah, so everything else is pretty much basic.
Your TV mount and everything like that.
Let's go outside.
That's where I wanted to show us
a little bit more of this truck.
Oh, another feature that I actually wanted to show is
you can completely,
you can control your suspension.
Like if you press this button,
it'll have it on the lower suspension
or you press up, it'll be on the higher suspension.
But you could completely, if you hold this button,
control it and let me show you.
So this is on the lower side right now.
You see the airbags?
You can pick this sucker up pretty high.
So let's just do this.
If you hold this button and it does show it
on the screen right there in the top right corner.
You're picking up the bag
and you can hold as high as you could
and it picks it up pretty high.
Look at it, you can already see it.
So yeah, those airbags are maxed out.
So if you need to pick up like a trailer,
something's wrong with your legs on the trailer,
that's a nice feature.
And it picks up the truck pretty high from the back too.
So more access underneath.
It's a nice feature to have.
Just put it back on the standard.
By the way, these doors, I gotta get used to the,
because the previous model VNLs, they had a handle here
and you have the switch here to open it.
Now you have the handle here and to open the door, it's here.
So they completely redesigned that.
It's a nice door though, it feels really solid.
I guess that's pretty much inside.
And it does have your standard
for the heating on the windshield.
It has all your sensors right there on your pillar
for your lane departure and all that.
Let's go outside, I wanna show you some stuff outside.
Yeah, I feel like they made this step a little bit wider.
That's kinda nice to have from the previous VNL.
So like I've shown before,
you can open this side skirt with one click.
There you go.
This one, I think it's an option.
This one does have the option
to open up this skirt right here.
There's a release handle right here.
You push it to the side.
And there's one right here too.
This is how they look like.
And there you go.
You have full access to your fuel tanks, your DEF tank.
Speaking of DEF tank,
it looks like they're welded together with the fuel tank.
That's different from the previous.
Your batteries right here, there's six of them.
Oh, let me open the hood too.
This one does have the 455 horsepower, 1850 torque.
It's the I-Torque transmission, so it's a 13 speed.
I love it when it looks all brand spanking new.
There's your vents in the bumper.
So they come up through here and just go up here,
I guess, to cool off.
Doesn't really connect to anything in the hood.
But from the hood scoop, you do have,
there's your two vents right there to cool off the engine.
Yeah, they just blow inside.
There's for your air intake,
but these two vents just blow in
this whole engine bay area, I guess.
That's interesting.
Let me open this side of the truck,
this body skirts, whatever you want to call them.
You have the same system here.
Just brush right there.
I kind of like that feature.
You have full access to whatever you need to do here.
There's your filters, DPF.
It looks like it's the same mechanism.
It looks, well, size-wise it does.
Maybe they did make some changes on it, I'm not sure.
There's your lane departure or blind spot monitor.
It would be nice, I think,
if they put airbags on this front steer.
Maybe that's an option, gotta look into that.
There's your fuel filter, fuel water separator.
It is heated.
And this one looks like, yeah, it's a twin turbo,
I mean, compound turbo setup.
This door, oh, it's locked.
Let's open that up.
The way you open up these side doors,
you just press a button.
They used to have a pull string here,
but you just press this button and it pops open.
There's your AC system for the back, for the rear.
And like I said, it does have the extra insulation
inside of it, through the truck.
And there's your camera setup.
I'll try to get in here a little bit closer look
for our mechanic guys.
Yeah, lots of clearance.
Does have the disc brakes right there.
