Why you should buy an infrared thermometer as part of your basic hand tool kit. The Blue Point one I have in the video is pretty pricey so the product link is for a Kobalt from Lowe’s and below is another affordable one from Amazon!
Here is a link to an affordable one.

Welcome back to Charlie's Garage. I thought it was time to do another video about
tools for technicians. So right here we got an infrared thermometer. I recommend this as
basically considered as part of your hand tool set. Infrared thermometer is going to give you
so much diagnostic capability that you wouldn't have without it. So you can do everything from
checking your radiator efficiency, charge air cooler efficiency. You can use it to check for
hot spots on an engine. You can point it at an exhaust manifold and find out which cylinder
might be missing or misfiring. The list goes on and on. On the chassis, you can use it to
measure wheel ends to see if you got hung up brakes or bad wheel bearings. But ultimately,
this is a tool that every technician needs to have in their toolbox, period. So tools for
technicians, I'm gonna make this a short video because there's not much to say other than you
should buy one of these as part of your initial tool purchase. It doesn't have to be an expensive
one like the one I'm holding right now. If you look in the comments section or the about section,
I will post some links to a really good one I found on Amazon that's really affordable.
The one I have in my toolbox, I got from Harbor Freight. I've had it for 15 years and it still
works great. So this is an absolutely necessary tool that you can get relatively inexpensively.
And I have tested and verified that some of these cheaper ones, like the one I'm
showing to show you from Amazon and the one I have at home from Harbor Freight,
I've bought them in and I've used the more expensive ones and pointed them at the same
thing and got the same temperature. So don't overspend on this tool until you've established
your career or making enough money to upgrade it if you want to. So please like and subscribe
the channel for diesel training, more tool tips, and maybe the occasional animal video
if I'm in a mood. And then make sure you're always checking for the links to see what
kind of cool things I found on Amazon that I can get discounts on, like this infrared thermometer
that I'm going to post in the comments in the about section. Thanks. Have a good one.
