This video provides a series of budget-friendly home decor tutorials using affordable materials from stores like Walmart, Amazon, and Dollar Tree. The creator demonstrates how to repurpose everyday items—such as Jenga tiles, salt shakers, and napkins—into stylish home accessories using simple techniques like Mod Podge, E6000 glue, and peel-and-stick wallpaper.
You can find peel and stick wallpaper practically anywhere pretty affordably. I found this gorgeous
one at Walmart and knew that I had to pick it up. So I went into where I keep all my home decor,
found this tray that honestly has been sitting in there for a couple of years. I haven't been
using it. And I thought, what if I added some peel and stick wallpaper to this tray? So I
cut down a piece that was a little bit bigger than the inside of my tray. And then I peeled
off the backing and placed it into the tray. I wanted it to be longer than the interior of
my tray. Then I went around the edges and just really kind of creased it in there. So I saw
where the edge was. Then I went in with my box cutter and cut around that interior as precise
as I could. Don't worry if it's not perfect, but you can cut that out. That's really all you have
to do. And you have a great tray. And if you don't like it six months from now, you can always remove
this peel and stick. Let's make some coasters. You're going to need two things. You're going to
need a pack of these Jenga tiles, and you're also going to need this cork that they sell at Dollar
Tree. Take all of the Jenga pieces out of the box. You're going to create coasters by using a dark
stained wood and a light stained wood. And I'm just going to alternate them in two rows. Once
you kind of figure out what you're going to use for your coasters, you want to get that cork piece
and you're going to cut it down. It doesn't have to be precise, but just to make it so that you
won't see it on the front side. Cut that square out, and then you're going to take the backing
off the sticky, and then you'll add in a little bit of E6000 to that cork piece. Then you can
place down all of your Jenga pieces. When you get to the end, if you have too much cork, you can
always cut that off before you put on that last row. And then press these down really well, and
make sure that you kind of push them into the middle so that they all are nice and connected.
That's going to make it look so much better. Repeat these steps for your other three coasters.
Let them dry overnight, and then you have some gorgeous coasters.
We must have gotten a lot of scallop decor this year, or maybe I just bought it all. In the party
section, they had these scalloped containers that were so pretty. They were plastic, but I never did
a DIY with them. Another item I had were these pretty napkins I bought in the party section at
Dollar Tree. And I thought, let's put these two things together. So I took one of the napkins,
and I was going to mod podge it onto my base. So to do that, you want to open up your napkin,
and then there's usually a white layer inside your napkin. You're going to think there's not,
but just try your best to pull it apart and pull off that white piece. You don't want that whenever
you mod podge. And you're going to need about two napkins for this. To add it, you're just going to
put mod podge all over your container. And then as flat as possible, you're going to put your napkin
on the top. And then do this until you completely cover your base. I have found that honestly,
ripping the napkin is the easiest way to get it where you want it around the top, because
once it dries, I will come back in and do a top layer of mod podge. And then any napkin that's
still kind of sticking up, I can put down with the mod podge. That's the way I do it. I don't
know. Let me know if you guys do it any different when you're applying the mod podge. I'll let that
dry. And now I have a decorative base to set out my home. Have you ever had your own propagation
station? Let me show you how to make it with Dollar Tree items. You're going to want to get
three packs of the salt and pepper shakers that they sell at Dollar Tree for a total of six. The
other thing you're going to need is some sort of base. I went with this wood slice that they have
at Dollar Tree. So I removed the tops of the salt and pepper shakers and laid them out to see how
many I could fit on my wood piece. Next, I'm going to use E6000 to attach them all together.
Then you're going to let these dry overnight. Now with my base, I added in the stain color
Early American, and I just painted that on and wiped off any excess. I wanted to raise this up
and make it a pedestal style. So I have this silicone mold in my craft room, and I also had
some quick create, and I thought I could make some bases from this silicone mold. So I'm going
to be using the quick create, and I'm going to mix it with a little bit of water. I mix it up until
it's a thick pudding consistency. And then I'm going to put the mixture into my silicone mold.
Now I only need four, but I'm going to make six because I find that sometimes when I do stuff
with quick create, some of it doesn't turn out great. So I like to make a few extras. I'm going
to place it in the silicone molds, and then I'm also going to shake that silicone mold, tapping
it down on my table to get out any air bubbles that might be in the mold. And I'm just going to
fill it up until it's level at the top. Let your quick create dry overnight. Then you can pop the
silicone molds out. Then I'll use E6000 to put these little legs on the bottom of my wood piece.
Your propagation station is almost ready. So I'm not an expert at propagating plants,
but I did look up how to do it. This plant grows great, and so I thought this would be a perfect
plant to try. Essentially what you're going to do, and I'll kind of show you down here. So on this
right here, see where there's like a little dot right here? And then there's one here and here.
This is a root system. So if you cut just a little bit below this root system and put that,
it should grow roots so that you can propagate. So we'll just put these tiny little plants inside.
Peel and stick wallpaper is great to use really anywhere around your home. If you have a cabinet
or a drawer that you're wanting to take to the next level, you can use peel and stick wallpaper.
I found this gorgeous wallpaper off of Amazon, and I have this really dark cabinet. It's a
cabinet by my front door, and it houses all the different items that I need whenever I'm walking
out the front door. But it's a little bit dark, so I thought adding in this peel and stick wallpaper
that I found on Amazon would brighten it up. So I'm going to add that to the shelf and the bottom.
So the second piece is going to be my trickier piece because I have to line this up and this up.
So I'm going to cut to give myself about a half an inch over here. I got a little bit of room over
here, and my main focus is going to be lining this up, and then I'll have to cut the edges
with the box cutter. I feel like that really dresses it up quite a bit. I also have a Dollar
Tree bin that I picked up. This is one they've had for years. It's just a plain white bin. I'm
going to be adding some peel and stick paper to the front of this. So to do that, I'm just going
to take the bin and place it down. Using a Sharpie, I'm going to trace around the side of it.
I'm also going to trace around that opening. Then I'll cut out on that Sharpie line. From there,
I'm just going to line the paper up and place it down on the front of my organization bin,
and then I'll just smooth it out to make sure I don't have any bubbles. This is going to be
great in my cabinet. It's going to house all of Moose's dog treats. I also have Dollar Tree
bins in here that are perfect for shoes or purses or anything you have. I also keep this
acrylic container in here of all of my purse essentials that I need to get out the door.
