Hey friends in today's video, I have a very special guest. This is my new friend. Lauren parker. Hi
I'm, so excited to be here. I am so excited. We've been trying to make this happen for like a year
It's a long time coming
so lauren is a celebrity makeup artist here in austin texas and
I've been trying to connect with her and get her on my channel for a while and today she is doing this glam on me
Which I love it looks so beautiful and she's sharing all her tips and tricks not on just application
But like on longevity how to get your makeup to last favorite products for mature skin all the things that you guys want to know
So before we get started, I am going to tag you in the description box and leave all your your handles and all the things
So, please go follow lauren. You will love what you find. You're on instagram and you're on tiktok, right?
I'm barely on tiktok. So mostly on instagram. Okay. Okay, so people will go follow you there
Yes, I see all the amazing people that you work on you will love her glam. It's so beautiful
You do you really do I don't know how or why they they found me why they hire me
But well because you're look because you make them look like this
Okay, you guys let's go ahead and jump right in. Okay. I'm so excited about this. Lauren. I'm so excited
Tell me what we're gonna be doing
okay, so i'm gonna start with skin prep and I don't use a lot of like primers or anything because I think that it kind of
Mixes with the foundation in a way that I don't love so I really just like to do heavy moisturizer
And that's pretty much on everyone whether you're dry
Oily, I love like a really hydrated base. Okay, no matter that's the best prep for makeup is really proper skincare
Yes, and so i'm going to use the embryo lee slate cream
Perfect. Okay, and people can buy this online. I discovered this brand like probably 20 years ago in europe. It's been around forever
Yeah, yeah. Yeah, it's like in pharmacies in europe, right? It's yes and it's like my tried and true
It's always in my kit. It has been for 16 years. I like to go in personally just right with my fingers
Yep, and kind of work it into the skin. That feels so good. You kind of can't overdo this
It feels like it like just from my hand I could feel that it feels really hydrating but it doesn't feel heavy
So hydrating and glowy and so I will just use this and completely skip primer. The only time I will do
primer
is
If you tell me that you are super oily
Every once in a while i'll use a little bit of like, um, the one size
Oh, i'm forgetting like the mattifying one or oil controlling one the oil controlling one
I think it's called like the oil slick and I will just kind of do it right here in the t-zone
But definitely not all over. Yeah
Yes, I find and I don't know if you agree with this
But I find that like as I get older like so i'm 43 and I used to do wedding makeup
Did you know that? No, I didn't. Yeah, that's how I started doing wedding makeup
And so I knew you were a makeup artist, but I wasn't sure if you were doing weddings
Yeah, I was doing weddings here in austin and uh with weddings
It's like you do the bride you do the mom you do the grandma so you really are covering all you know
Generations and um, you know the makeup that you do on the bride
Obviously is very different than the makeup that you do on her mother or her grandmother
and I find like with
You know more mature skin like less is more like I say I tell people I wear a lot of products
But I wear very little layers of all those products, right? That's my exact technique is I just do a ton of layers
Just a ton of layers. Yes. This is uh, just a lineage
I'm, just kind of kind of let this soak into your lips while we work on your makeup
And you guys we have the dogs in here with us
So you might hear a little you know noise from them here and there. They love me
Take it away from me
Okay, so I always start with eyes
This is just my technique because I like to be able to make a big mess
And then clean it up and i've been using the the p louise eyeshadow base for several years and this is my favorite
I haven't tried that really. Yeah, where do you buy that?
I got mine this time on amazon, but normally I will just order directly from her site
Okay, she has some really great like eyeshadows and other things too. I like p louise. Okay, great
It's a really good like affordable. So this is a primer that you use before I make up. Yes
I really like to get that on there kind of a lot of it
What brush are you using? Is it the concealer brush? This is the concealer brush my favorite
It's a good one for um primer too or like cream or liquid shadows
And do you put that all over the lid like up to the crease or where do you kind of stop?
Yes, kind of all over all the way up to the eyebrow and once we get that on
I like to set it with some powder. Mm. Okay. So you like to set the primer with powder?
What if you're doing like a cream shadow or a liquid shadow? Do you also set it with a little powder?
I guess it depends on which cream shadow you're using if it's one that you know for sure doesn't crease
Then I think you can go without it
But I think adding just a little bit of powder really helps like lock it in
I feel like it also helps the shadows blend better because they don't they're not gonna like stick to wet primer
I think this helps with longevity too and for powder. What kind of powder do you use? Um, I am using
the kosis
powder
Okay, this one is in
Shade airy, but I like airy pillowy and feathery. Okay. Oh, I have feathery. Yes. It's kind of lighter
Yeah, these are good. These are really pretty. Oh that uh, eyeshadow base really blanks everything out
It really blanks everything and then once you put this on too, this is like it has like a little bit of coverage
I don't think it's a um foundation powder, but it has a tiny bit of coverage to it
Yeah, so you use a sponge to really layer it on I use a triangle puff
This really helps also like create the kind of eye shape you want to create with someone right? So yes
Yeah
Yeah, if you wanted to kind of like move the crease up a little bit
You need everything to be completely blank and all the products that we were using
I will link them in the description box and also tag them in youtube shopping so you guys can find them that way
I'll have to get a list from you
Yes, I use a lot of products because like I said, I like to layer so it's it's it's gonna be a lot of products
I'm sure i've been non-stop using these patrick ta the six pan palettes
I have the light that one's the medium. And so I have this one. Yeah. Oh, you do love it
Clearly. Yes, those two shades
Yeah, but I also have the light and the dark if you're a makeup artist and you have those three like
You're kind of good. Yeah
I feel like there's nothing more satisfying than seeing someone hit pan on my shadow palette, you know
Do it all the time. So i'm just going to kind of start out here on the outer corner
This is like a it's a medium shade a light to medium shade kind of a neutral brown
But there's a little bit of warmth to it and all these are matte
Yeah, and do you always use that in the crease like to start? Yes. And why is that?
I just like the way that matte looks better. I anytime you put shimmer somewhere it tends to emphasize
So I probably will put some shimmer on you, but i'll do that right here in the direct center
So that emphasizes the center of your eyes. Yeah, i'm with mattes too
It helps create more definition and shape because like shimmer reflects light so it kind of makes an area protrude more
Right. And so in the crease you I want it to be more defined and on the lid. I want it to protrude right?
I want the lid to pop. Yep in the crease to recede
That's the way I think of makeup is in like shadows and highlights
And so whichever parts of the face that you want to create depth
You obviously want to add darkness in those places and the places that you want to pop you want to add light
Yeah, i'm a big advocate for just blend your life away when in doubt blend it out
I so I used to work for mac
I was a trainer for the company and I so I started at the makeup counter and then I you know moved into
Like a regional trainer position and I had a boss
Her name was christine stafford and she was probably the most like fun spunky person human being I've ever met
She had all these really cute sayings. One of them was like when in doubt blend it out
She also like if you ever asked her like do I have too much blush on or do I have too much gloss on or?
You know, whatever. She'd be like is a diamond too shiny
I love that
She also had this one and I it still sticks with me today
I use it in a lot of my content when i'm trying to explain to someone that has like a dark
Underneath their eye like not to go in with a really light concealer
Right because christine would always say if you put a white pantyhose over a bruise, you ain't fooling anybody
Oh, that's what she said and i'm like, you're right. Wait. I love that. That makes sense to me
It does right it helps you kind of understand why that doesn't work. So when did you work at mac?
So I worked at mac. I started when I was uh, it's either 18 or 19. I think I was 19
And gosh, when would that have been that would have been like 2001
Wow
Yes, and I worked that is like peak mac days. I feel like I have to have been so fun
It was I felt like I was just so cool
You were so cool because I used to be like I want to be in that girl. Yeah, it was the best makeup school
I never went to makeup school like it was just working at mac you learn, you know one by just doing
makeup because that's where people would go to have their makeup done but then also just from being around all of those artists that
were so talented and then when I became a trainer, so I
Trained south texas. I had eight markets and I would travel and I would train all the new makeup artists and I would train
Like um, not just new artists, but every three months they would do like mac update
Which was basically training everyone around the new product that was coming out
And so we would do that. That was the coolest experience, you know
Like, you know, I definitely was not the best makeup artist there
like there were people that I was training that were way better makeup artists than me and just learning from them and
Also the different markets like going down to the border towns and seeing the way women wear makeup down there
You know, it's just like so much different than here in austin
texas
Yeah, you know at the saks fifth avenue that I worked at which was very conservative and kind of more, you know
natural neutrals
I mean, it was just it was so cool. I'm still only using the same color. Okay
I'm still creating depth by kind of like feathering it way out here on the brow bone itself
This is the 202
And you've only used that. I've only used this brush
That's great. It's so pretty like I love how you're taking it higher and further out
Every time I get my makeup done makeup artists always pull it further out than I do and I love it
And I think that's the key difference, you know, like I think it kind of makes your eye like an illusion of making your eyes
Bigger yeah, and I love that doing the eyes first like you're doing you can go back with concealer and foundation to really clean up
Where you want it to end?
Yep
I know that we don't like makeup wipes these days, but I do like to use a makeup wipe to kind of just
Clean it up afterwards and sharpen it. Yeah. So tell me what your favorite foundation of the moment is right now
This is like the ultimate question. This is what every single person asks me. I know it's hard because it depends right?
Yeah, it depends here. Now i'm using the 205 and i'm going to go with just a little bit darker
This one right here
I have for years loved the danessa myrick's yummy skin foundation
And anybody that knows me any of my clients any of the artists that I work with they know that I am constantly
Talking about it. It's a serum foundation and it's so pretty
What do you love about it? It mixes well with other foundations, too
I rarely put one foundation on the skin and i'm satisfied
So it mixes really well with other foundations
It's a full coverage, but it still feels like skin. It still feels light. Yeah
I will use some today and mix it with another foundation
I actually don't know if i've used that she has a lot of really innovative products. She really does which I love
She really does. Yeah. I love her color fix. Yes
I think those products can be intimidating for like the average consumer
But once you like kind of get over that hump and you play with it, it's like the best product. Absolutely
I know this looks crazy right now
It's okay. I promise you trust the process. Yeah. Yes
This is why I don't put my clients in front of a mirror. I know if possible. I know yeah
Because then they start asking. Oh, are we gonna do this? Are you gonna put foundation on me still?
So you do a lot of weddings?
I do. Yes. I'm not doing as many as I used to
I've been doing weddings for 16 years and i'm kind of trying to slow down. They are hard work that I was
Yeah. Yeah, I remember my wedding days. They were
It was uh, there's so many great memories. They were so fun, but it is like you're on your feet all day
I remember just coming home so exhausted. Yes
I feel like it's a totally different feeling between weddings and then doing my personal clients
I think I give my all in both situations, but i'm kind of an empath
So I I take on those emotions of a wedding day. I am actually not even going to put anything on
Your lid itself except for a shadow topper
Okay. So what we're seeing now is just the eye primer we used just the eye primer and the powder. Okay
Yep, so i'm just gonna go in with my finger and this is one of my favorite products
Obviously i've hit pan on this too guys the urban decay space cowboy. I'm buying that today
I meant to buy it around forever. Nikki uses this on me, too
She when she did my makeup for the grammys i'm almost certain she did that. It's so pretty
I don't know what it is about this specific because I have a lot of like shimmery toppers that I use
Nothing compares to this. It's so pretty. Okay, i'm buying that
It's got like warm and full tone shimmer and it's like sheer right? Like that's what I loved about it
It's not like a heavy foiled shadow. It's just very sheer but very high impact, too
I like it to be kind of like just a whisper. But yeah, there's there's a little bit of warmth in the undertones
So you really don't need anything else. Are you a shimmer girl or do you usually prefer matte? I usually prefer matte
Yeah, but I wear shimmer. Um when I you know have a special occasion or something i'll wear it
But and they're not so silly as i'm saying that i'm like, why do you do that?
Like why not wear it? I'm like not today. You're gonna be a shimmer girl
I think it's just like my makeup has evolved over the years. I look back at like my 20s my mac days, you know
Of course, you know, I wore lots more color shimmer high glam
I would sit down and spend 45 minutes on my makeup because I had the time right?
And I just don't have that time anymore
So now my routine is much more like 10 to 15 minutes max and it's just kind of just more, you know
Neutrals and kind of basic a basic look but I also feel like I look best that way too
Like I love being all glam. I think when I feel the prettiest it's usually when I have less makeup on
Isn't that or maybe not the prettiest but the most comfortable that's probably what it is
Because I do feel beautiful with heavy glam, but I think I feel more comfortable when it's just like well, that's more you
Yeah, i'm so excited. I can already tell i'm gonna love it
You know i've seen all the work that you've done
you know, we have some mutual friends and you've done their makeup and
I'm always like I need an occasion to do and I actually reached out to lauren last year
To see if she wanted to come on my channel and do this and you know schedules
Was hard to kind of line them up until now
This has been a long time coming and i'm honored to be here. Sometimes I like to take a wipe
And just clean up that shadow and then that'll give you like a really good guide for your eyeliner as well
Right just right from the corner of your eyes
So do you do your makeup you do your eyes first, too?
No, I do my makeup in like five minutes
So i'll usually just kind of like if i'm doing a heavier shadow look. Uh-huh. I'll do that first
I love drugstore makeup just as much as I love high end makeup. It has come a long way
I feel like like the drugstore has got
Really great formulas now
In fact, we're filming a video after this on kind of like our top fives of four products we'd go by
And at first I was like, okay
Well, I definitely would need foundation
But then I thought that I'd actually probably buy a drugstore
Yeah foundation if I lost all my makeup and I had to replace everything I would probably do it. Yeah
Yeah, this is the maybelline
tattoo
Gel liner and i've been using this also for years. Okay, so let's talk about that brown eyeliner not blackness
I I like both like sometimes
If I wanted a little bit more depth I would do black and then do like a brown shadow on top
Just to kind of soften it, but I really i'm liking like the warmth and stuff we have going on around here
So i'm i'm going to keep it in the brown. Yeah, I always wear brown and this is the 208 liner brush
So you start at the very outer corner? I do and I kind of rest the brush along the lashes
And try to get just as close to the lash line as possible
So you try to keep the liner very thin and tight very tight. Why is that? I like the way that it looks
Yeah, I mean if you're doing like a big liner look obviously you can do more
Yeah, I find a thicker liner will kind of close my eye off a bit
and I have you know, very I feel like the real estate on my eyes is
Getting smaller and smaller these days. So I don't want to take it all up with an eyeliner, you know
And I just I like to have liner no matter what if i'm doing a lash
Because I think it makes the lash actually look more natural. It hides the band
Okay, let's talk about your favorite concealers for mature skin
What would they be if I had to pick your top three?
Top three. Okay, I would say
Hourglass, okay the vanish. Yes
That's my all-time favorite. I use it on most good one. I do like kosas
And I like their correctors a lot too. I do too. That's pretty much all I use right now. Is it?
Yes, i'm trying to think of what else would work well with mature skin. What's yours?
I would say
The kosas is definitely one of them. Have you tried sarah creel? No, I really love her
Yeah, so sarah creel is a makeup line that's available at sephora and it's exclusively like marketing towards women over 40
It's nice. It's very lightweight. It's like a serum concealer. It's
Really really beautiful. What about women who are 38 when I say like they're mature and then I say 40
It doesn't feel like you know, what does mature mean really, you know, but I think you know
I definitely have noticed that I would say for the last like six seven years
My skin has changed so much and products that I used to love just I can't they just don't work for me like they used to
I'm experiencing that as well, especially around my eyes my under eyes
Yeah, because the skin there is just that's where you start to show texture from you know
Fine lines and expression lines and also the skin there is a little thinner and I remember this being like a big challenge
Was helping people understand that like makeup can cover
Discoloration but makeup it's difficult to cover texture
Right. It's like if you get a full coverage foundation because you have a lot of like
you know rosacea or
Or some type of discoloration you want to cover like that full coverage will definitely cover that but it might make the texture look worse
Right 100. I actually don't know any products that are good for texture
And I try to explain that to people too, you know, which is why we just go with in with a lighter hand
Exactly. Yes. I think the best thing you can do is just have a lighter hand, right?
I got someone asked me the question the other day
They were like I love this foundation, but I noticed it settles in my crow's feet and I was like well
Maybe see if you can avoid putting it there, you know, and or keeping it really really sheer
you're just using like
I always tell people like wherever you put your brush first is the place you're going to deposit the most product, right?
so
Do the areas like that?
You have issues with it settling and do that last at the very end when almost all the makeup is off your brush
Yeah, right
Well, I think sometimes people put makeup in certain places because they think that they're supposed to put makeup in certain places
But sometimes it's not benefiting you to do so, you know, right?
You might actually not need right the darkness covered in that area underneath your eyes. Totally. Yes
Also, i'm a lot slower now
Than I was when I started 16 years ago
So I would say it takes me
I need a solid hour
To do makeup. Yes
I used to be able to crank them out, especially when I was doing so many weddings
Yeah, you kind of have to right but i'm sure you're like makeup has just elevated so much too over the years
Yeah, I care more, you know, I care about the outcome
Yeah, and I think that that makes it so that I take my time. Yes
I'm going to use the 420
And so do you always trim lashes pretty much always always yeah just a tiny little piece on the corner
Yeah, even if like the lash fits I find that it's more comfortable if it's not like pushed all the way to the inner corner
Of the eye. Yep, and you can usually just build with a little mascara in that inner corner
If you feel there's a gap, yep, or fill it in with a little bit of like shadow or liner as well
Any tips for lash application? Yes use tweezers
I always put the tweezers in the middle of the lash and then try to place the lash in the middle of the eye
And I also like to make sure that it gets nice and tacky before I put it on
Yeah, so it doesn't slide around. Yep. Did you ever work at a makeup counter?
I did not. No, okay. So you kind of self-taught. Yes and started working. That's amazing. I skipped right over I
graduated college and realized that I
Wanted to continue doing makeup. Yeah, so when I moved to austin and you moved from california to austin or yes
I'm originally from illinois, but I was living in california
As a nanny and so when I moved to austin I was like wait, I want to do this full time
I'm in a new city. This is so fun start. Yeah, so I started
Freelancing and working for a couple other bridal companies. Okay, that's amazing. How long have you been in austin?
For 16 years. Oh, okay. Okay. Wow almost 17. Wow, you must have started then
Kind of right after I I mean when did I stop doing weddings because back when I was doing weddings here
I mean there were it was just like me and like a couple other people that I knew that were I was friends with you
know, yeah now the
The industry here is so different. I think I stopped doing weddings probably like
Maybe 15 years ago or so was maybe the last time I did. Oh, yeah
but I was doing weddings for a while I had a wedding makeup business here and a few makeup artists and
We would do like, um, I feel like we overlapped at least maybe a little bit. Yeah
I think our busiest month we did like 40 weddings that month. Gosh, so we were you know
We were yeah, especially back then I felt like and I worked during the week
I had a monday through friday job and that was like my weekend thing. Oh, wow. How did I do all that?
I don't even know. Yeah, sometimes i'm not sure how we have the energy to do some of these things
Because we love it. Yeah. Okay. So lashes are on lashes are on and now we're going to do some foundation
So i'm going to mix a few
Like I said, I rarely just do one foundation and stop. I don't know why
same with my lip combos a lot of people ask me like what's your favorite lip combo and i'm like
I use like five to get to where I want to be really do you do that on yourself too or just yeah
Yeah, okay. How fun I probably have five lip products on
I love that. So what foundations will be using today?
Okay, i'm definitely going to use some of the yummy skin that I was talking about. These are actually the refills. Oh, okay, which
Pro tip great. Yeah, the refills are cheaper than the product with like the the applicator
Yes, and so if I were you I would go on sephora and I would search the refills. Okay, that's a great tip
So you mix shades too? I do you'll use lighter in the center and
So i'm gonna mix this with um the mary phillips
I bought one and I need to try it a little bit more and I want to hear your thoughts when I wore it
I felt like it was like radiant and dewy. I like something that's usually a little bit more
Soft matte. Okay a little more setting or I felt like it didn't self-set
I don't know
I just felt like it was really dewy but I only wore it like two or three times and I should to be fair
I had just gotten micro needling done like the week before so my skin was just
I didn't really love the way any foundation looked on me. Yeah that week, you know
Well, then i'm gonna mix in a third foundation, which I actually learned
Yeah, okay from your channel. Okay, I do really from my channel nikki loves this. Yeah
Okay, but she used it on you on your channel. Yes. I do love it
This is the lawless forget the filter. Okay, this one's definitely a little bit more like full coverage and matte
So I think the combination will be good and i'm gonna use
The 101 brush and I always like to put it on the back of my hand so that I can really kind of like work
It in. Yeah, I always tell people like don't worry about getting an exact match
You can always mix in a darker shade a lighter shade something that's got more of a yellow undertone something
That's got more of a pink undertone
Like it's not a final decision when you start putting foundation on and also the way like your concealer can kind of brighten or lighten
and bronzer
Totally because that's something that i'm very proud of is my shade matching
Abilities and people always ask me like how do you know what shades people are? Yeah, and part of it is just experience
And working with these products for so long and then part of it is just
Knowing that I can't mess it up, you know, right and you can fix it and you can fix it
Yes, exactly. You take the foundation on the neck. I do. Yeah, definitely at least feathering it down
So now i'm just using a barely damp beauty blender
And then you're kind of precedent like press in and absorb any excess or yep. Yeah, your skin looks
Flawless. Thank you. So does this combo of foundations you used like great for longevity and
Yes, like this is other than the new flawless foundation, which I got maybe a month ago
Yummy skin i've been using for years. And like I said, it mixes well with everything
There's nothing i've used it with that. I'm like, oh wait, this doesn't work
so I will always at least start with that and you know, i've been doing weddings for years and
Clients for tv film red carpet and they need it to last you need it to last
Yeah, i'm curious to see what concealer we're going to use
Yes, i'm going to do the contour
And the blush first and then and then concealer. Okay. Oh good
That's not that's kind of out of the order I do but I like learning like different and obviously there's a reason you do it
That way. Yeah, I put a lot of blush on and then I kind of
I just like the way that blends better doing blush before
Concealer i'm going to be using the danessa myricks contour balm. This is a good one
I like that one. This is in the shade medium two and i'm going to use the brush
109 yes, I love this brush is so good for contour. It fits like perfectly right into the cheekbones. I like to start
Out on the sides and high. Okay, so I can feel it right on my bone. Yep
Yeah, and I will put the most product kind of concentrated right here
And then kind of feather out the edges and I don't like to bring it too far forward
But just enough to kind of cut the cheekbones bronzer and blush placement is
Kind of and I hate to call it a mistake because at the end of the day people should do their makeup
how they feel best in and pretty but I will say I
Like my makeup when I have it done and almost always they place the bronzer and blush a little higher than I typically do
And you know, it's because when I was younger, I always placed it there
But as I get older like it's makes such a difference having it placed higher
It really does lift the face and lift the cheeks. I'm just using that same beauty blender
I'm, just really lightly tapping to soften that up pretty i'm just a little on the jawline, too
This is one of my favorites like my all-time favorites
Say do blush in the shade rosy. It just blends out. So seamlessly. It's pretty. Yeah, it lasts
I love it. I find they're easier too than the rare beauty ones. The rare beauty ones are really pigmented
I can't use the rare beauty ones for that reason or that. Yeah for that reason
I just feel like I have a harder time like this. I can just slap it on and it blends out so seamlessly
Um, i'm using the 106 brush for this. I like to really kind of go in with the blush
It looks a little alarming at first
But once it's all blended and the powders are on top
It looks so flawless. I'm placing a little bit under the eyes all the way up on the temples
The top of the brow. So do you do brows kind of last?
Is that like I do I like to do all my powder products and then brows
You definitely have a formula of the way you like to do makeup in order. I do. Yeah
I mean, I don't think that there's any like correct way. Mm-hmm like right or wrongs. Yeah
It's pretty I think whatever feels best for you. Okay, i'm gonna go in with concealer
I'm gonna use the hourglass in shade
3.8. This one's really like neutral and I like it. So look up for me. I like to focus mostly on these inner corners
You know, i'll do just just a dab on the outer corner. Yeah, that's what I do and then bring them together
Sometimes if you've got like a heavy shadow here
And the creases i'll bring it down just a little bit
Because like we said we like to try to bring like highlight the center of the face highlight the center of the face
Exactly bringing the creases forward and i'm using the the concealer brush for this as well
And so you're just kind of tapping tapping tapping. Yes
I like to kind of just press it into the skin
I find that I take my time with concealer like it usually takes me longer than you'd think because I just
Want to really make sure I press it into the skin absorb any excess that doesn't land in any creases or fine lines
Yes
I try to work kind of quickly too. That way it doesn't sit and settle. Do you usually set your concealer with powder? I do
Yeah, what are your thoughts on that I feel like you kind of have to yeah, I do too
Otherwise it tends to crease. Yes
I know people are kind of afraid of powder under the eyes, especially on drier skin or mature skin
But I find if you find the right powder and you use just the right amount
That's all you just need a little and you do use a little on the chin or just kind of what's left on the brush
Just what's left over? Yeah, sometimes i'll do it kind of like right here in the middle of the brows
Perfect. Oh, yes. Look at that
Oh so good looking so pretty
Okay, and then i'm gonna use a powder puff again and that kosas powder when you have that your client look up
You want to make sure that you?
Press out any excess
Creasing before you put any powder so you don't seal that crease in and i'm using this light shade and it's it's pretty brightening
If you don't want it to be this bright then just use a darker shade of the powder i'm going to use
That same puff and then this is the darker shade in the kosas
This one's pillowy and i'm going to kind of like tap it onto my hand
I don't want too much powder for this, but I do want to set the face this foundation. It's a very glowy foundation
which one's the glowy one is it the mph or the
The yummy skin the yummy skin. It's glowy
Yeah, but when you put powder on top of it, it can go matte and I do tend to set like the entire face
Uh-huh. This is the part that I feel like makes it look like a filter
And so really just like pressing that powder in. Yep, so you don't disrupt the products underneath
Yes, definitely and do you set on top of the cream and liquid blush and everything or just around it? Yeah, okay
I mean I try to use like just a little product but but you see like it just looks so like it just kind of airbrush
Yeah, it looks like um velvet. Yeah
i'm, just using a brush with nothing on it again just to kind of
Sweep under the eyes and make sure that that's all blended. It looks so good. I'm gonna do
One quick pass of a setting spray. Okay
Just let that powder kind of soak in
You love that setting spray that was the charlotte tilbury airbrush I also layer setting sprays
You do. Yeah. Yes. I have the matte one. I haven't both but I love the matte. Oh nice
I don't think i've used the matte one. So that one's the first one you go in with
Yeah, I usually will use like a wet one, you know something that's gonna melt the powder and push the powder in
Make it look a little bit more natural and then at the end
I hate to admit how much I love the one size setting spray. Oh, yeah that I mean
That's just so like waterproof bulletproof. Like yeah
oilproof i'm gonna go in with some
bronzer and for bronzer
I use the mac mineralized skin finish and deep darkest. Okay. Yeah, so that's pretty. Yeah
Those are beautiful powder. It's pretty warm, but I love this powder. I like to kind of just put that
right on top of the blush
contour
A little bit here at the temples tip of the nose just to warm it up a little bit
She's got a white shirt, so I don't want to go too far down
But normally I would bring this down down as far as possible to make sure that the neck is
All blended pretty the skin looks incredible gorge
Now i'm gonna go in with some more blush
Um, and i'm gonna use the 112 that's my favorite blush brush
I love this and I know it's small but I like that's what I love about it on in like a concentrated kind of way
Okay for blush i'm gonna use say the super suede blush in the shade mia, I love these they're so beautiful
Look at that color. That's so such a classic blush color
and I just love how like
Like layerable it is and how just how buildable it is
You can get something really soft and sheer or build it up. We've got two say blush products going so far
I also love the sheen that it gives just gives us really pretty highlights. It's not too heavy
Blush is the first thing to disappear
Mm-hmm in your makeup. So if you want to over blush, I highly encourage it. Perfect. So pretty. I love it
I haven't been using as much highlighter as I used to but I do like this dibs pop star blush
It has a little bit of a sheen to it as well
So i'll just do that kind of bright on the very tops of the cheekbones. It's like two colors, huh?
Yeah, I could do a blush if you can see it's like no, that's pretty. Yeah, that's very pretty
It's got like a a bright poppy like baby pink and then more of like a coral
But I usually kind of just swell them together
So, sorry, no, that's okay. I made the mistake of breathing in. Uh-huh
Locks everything in yes
And then sometimes I I don't like when this part of the face right here is shiny
Like I feel like it kind of calls too much attention. So what i'll do is i'll go back in with like a mattifying powder
i'll use the
The huda cherry blossom. Mm-hmm
And just kind of hit those parts of the face
Do this a lot of camera work. Mm-hmm. Oh, that's pretty it just blurred everything too blurs it. Mm-hmm
Every time I get my makeup done i'm like why I should do this every day
There's just such a difference between an application like this
And just kind of like a quick every day, you know, it's just like the time all the attention to detail that goes into it
Well, you are a busy lady and I don't think you have time. I know for this every day
Okay, let's do some brows
So I like to start with a brow gel
I'm going to use the nyx brow glue and the shade medium. I love it
People will love that. It's nyx too. I love I love nyx. I'm using nyx brow pencil, too. Yeah
Yeah, they make great brow products. It's my favorite. I don't know
I just i've been using them now for a long time. And so you did the gel first I do the gel first
Yeah
I like to kind of set where the brows are going to be and then fill in with the pencil
Sometimes I feel like when you do the pencil first and then the brow it kind of takes away
The pencil work that you've done
It makes sense
I like to kind of brush on the opposite way too to get them evenly coated
Does this gel have any like kind of like volume building qualities to it?
Is it kind of more just like hold I don't know that it does it's got really good hold
And it's very slightly tinted which I like because sometimes brow gels tend to go
Like white or you know, like they'll be a little crusty. Yeah, and this one does not i'm going to use the nyx brow pencil
In the shade ash brown. It's one that I use
We use this one. I like how small
It is
So you can do like hair like strokes. I always start with the inner corner
I like to kind of build the shape and then work my way out to the outer corner
and to use these two same products on everyone or do you kind of evaluate like
Brows can be so different right like if I had
Like really thick brows, you might would you do the same products or would you change it up?
I might use something that's more of like a brow freeze with somebody with really thick brows or like unruly
Brows, I mean this one works really well for most people, but I don't know that it would be strong enough. Uh-huh
For someone with like thick coarse brows. Yeah, if somebody doesn't have any brows at all
Sometimes i'll use like a brow pen
And just kind of like flick hairs. Yeah, everyone's gonna use a powder
Overall, I use these two products on most people in different shades
When I was doing makeup at mac, you know 20 years ago or more it was always powder
We all used an angle brush with a powder
Yeah before the brow market was really a market, you know, and they didn't have all these products for brows before the 2016. Yeah
Really before anastasia anastasia beverly hills was the one that kind of put brows, you know made a made a category for it
Look how the brows make everything come together. Mm-hmm. It's really a frame for your your eyes and your face
I think we're kind of going away from like a super brushed up brow there for a while
Everybody wanted like laminate brows. Yes, and I still love them. I think they're really pretty
I just think that like I haven't been asked to do as many as I used to
Do you like to shape the brows just a little bit more? Yeah, so I I use the nars
Um, it's the long one the soft mac concealer. It's a good one. And this is the a505
It's just a flat brush
Just gonna kind of put this at the high points underneath the brow
This kind of just lifts the brow lifts the eye just like the tiniest bit, but I feel like it makes a huge difference
Yeah, I think so your eyes look bigger and kind of cleans up the brows, too
Under the eyes i'm just going to use back to the patrick ta shadows
I'm, just going to use a little bit of a brown. I don't like to do a ton under the eyes
I know me too. Just a little just a little bit
Especially when you're doing like a heavier eye shadow look I feel like it kind of balances out the top and the bottom
totally
Tiny bit of mascara. Do you like to wear mascara on the bottom? Yes, but just a tiny bit. Yep
Yep, you have beautiful bottom lashes. Oh, thank you. Do you have lashes on right now? I do. Yeah, I have clusters underneath
I do like to put mascara on even the false lashes. Yeah, I do too to blend in the natural lashes in and
Add a little extra. Okay for the lip i'm going to use the charlotte tilbury
double-ended liner
This is in the shade
Medium I like this one a lot specifically because this is like a really neutral shade and then there's kind of like a brown
On the other side. So if you wanted to kind of sculpt
The outer corners you can add some depth the darker side. I like to kind of just very slightly overline the top lip
Nothing too dramatic
But mostly right here in the high point in the center and use that darker shade just a little bit on the outer corners
Okay. Now i'm going to use the makeup by mario in the shade bronx, baby. Oh, I don't have this one. I love this
I mean obviously
Very well used this one's like a it's just like a classic like mommy pink like nude undertones
It's pretty these are also super comfortable very pigmented and creamy too. Yes and pressing together
That's pretty. This is the maybelline lifter gloss in the shade gummy bear. I love these are so good
They're so good. They remind me a lot of the fenty. They do they do. Yeah
We love a dupe some of them have shimmer in it, but this one does not
So pretty so much shine and those are pretty lightweight
You don't feel heavy or sticky. Okay. So last thing i'm going to do
Is i'm going to take this 204 brush and then if you've got any like little creases
I like to blend it out on a brush with nothing on it. I love that like this helps
Keep the creases at bay and it's an everyone problem. Everyone's always like oh my creases
Like it's it's an everyone problem. Yeah, this is a little trick i'm going to start doing i've never thought to do this
She's gorgeous, I love it. Oh, I love it. I love the lip too. It's so beautiful. Oh, yay good
I love that on you, too. I love it
Oh my gosh. Well, I love the way my makeup looks I feel like this is like the perfect glam for me
I still feel like myself, but I feel like my best self. This is very much what I do
Like a natural glam an elevated glam something that you can wear like out something that's gonna last
You could also wear it for your wedding like I don't feel like this is too much at all
But I feel like I could definitely throw on a gown and be ready to go to like an evening event, you know
It's still going but I still feel yes
Like sometimes when my glam is this like really really glam during the day
I feel a little self-conscious going to the grocery store going to this but I totally don't feel that way when this makeup
You look so beautiful. She's a beautiful canvas. Thank you so much for being here and being on my channel
