The United States Coast Guard stands the watch. From high seas rescues to securing our maritime
borders, we are always ready. But readiness doesn't begin on the water or in the air. It
starts by developing the sharpest minds and most capable leaders to face the complex challenges
of tomorrow. The ultimate strength of the service relies on rigorous training and elite preparation.
Now that foundation of excellence is finding a new home in Birmingham.
Establishing the Coast Guard's home of the Enlisted Leadership Center of Excellence
on the historic grounds of Birmingham's southern campus brings not only an American institution to
the city, but also brings new energy, economic vitality, and lasting opportunity to the region.
This partnership is more than an investment in our workforce. It is a commitment to this
community. Together, Birmingham and the Coast Guard are shaping the future of national security,
training the next generation of heroes right here at home. Birmingham has invested in a
legacy of excellence, and the Coast Guard is proud to become a permanent part of this
community's future. But more importantly, it means that Coast Guard's success stories
of tomorrow will be forged right here in Sweet Home Alabama.
