AI GeneratedRome hosted the 30th anniversary of the Salon International Gathering of Decorative Painters. Featuring over 130 artists from 30+ countries, this year's theme, \"The Light of the Eternal City,\" celebrated the evolution of decorative arts and the exchange of global techniques, ranging from traditional Chinese ink to modern delicate painting.
Some of the world's best decorative painters
are illustrating their talents.
This year's annual gathering of such an event
took place in the Italian capital,
crafting works that pay homage to the eternal city.
NTD's Andrew Thomas has more on the event's 30th anniversary.
Rome, the Italian capital, hosted this year's Salon,
International Gathering of Decorative Painters.
The event features more than 130 artists
from over 30 countries.
This year's theme, the light of the eternal city.
Artist Jan Berghuis founded the gathering back in 1997.
I started the real Salon as it is now.
And it developed after about 30 years
to something very important and big.
With visitors, so many visitors looking at the Salon,
it's beautiful.
British artist Natasha Beharel puts the final touches
on her work, a process that requires delicate technique.
She says the event is an opportunity
to see how other artists have developed
their craft over the years.
It's a testament to how the craft has changed
throughout those 30 years, and how the techniques have changed,
and how people are still evolving, especially
throughout their practice.
We have guys who are much older who've
been working for years and years,
and they are still learning themselves.
American artist Lisa Haas wanted to pay homage
to this year's theme and the event's host city.
She strove to create work that was unique
and avoid what she called cheesy.
I struggled and looked through references
of Rome and the light, and I finally came across this.
And I liked just the depiction of some of the Rome
and the light and the nice background and subtle.
Artist David Shui demonstrates a traditional Chinese technique.
Chinese, we call it Chinese ink, is also
about more than 3,000 years.
So I bring this to Salon since 2017.
Florida will host Salon International Gathering
of Decorative Painters next year.
