I can dim the lights and sing you songs
Full of sad things
We can do the tango just for two
I can serenade and gently play
On your heart strings
Be your Valentino just for you
Ooh, love
Ooh, let's do it tonight
Hey boy, set my alarm
Turn on my charm
That's because I'm a good old-fashioned loverboy
It's just minus two, minus two, minus two
When I'm not with you
Think of me always
Love you
I'm a good old-fashioned loverboy
Just hold on tight
That's because I'm a good old-fashioned loverboy
Oh, my gosh. Amazing stuff.
Hello, ladies.
We're Sorella, and we're from Lexington, Ohio.
Sisters?
Yeah, we're sisters.
Sisters.
What are you doing turning around, Chance?
This is embarrassing.
I don't know if you guys know this or not.
Oh, my God.
You may not know this, Chance.
Here it comes.
But this is my last season.
What?
We heard.
We've heard, too.
Yeah, and...
There was press releases about it.
I've worked with a lot of young people,
had a lot of success with young people.
I would be honored to have you on the last Team Blake.
Blake. Team Blake ever.
Unless someday they hire another coach with the name Blake.
Or NBC pay you more money to come back next year.
Right.
And this is like a fake retirement.
I thought it was really cool what you're doing.
That's really hard to hold on to those kind of dissonant harmonies
all at once and not waver.
That was really well done.
I'm really stoked to see what you're gonna do on this show.
Thank you so much.
The reason I didn't turn personally is I was trying to think,
like, what could I bring to the table?
I didn't turn and then regret everything that I was thinking
for the 90 seconds while you were singing.
It's okay. We love you.
But you've got these two.
Oh, yeah. Amazing.
How did you guys start in music?
We're actually on social media.
Oh, me too.
We're big on TikTok. We have 3.2 million.
What?
That's awesome.
I was kind of hesitant about some of, like,
the dissonant harmonies that you guys were putting together,
but I started to notice over time that it was intentional
and it was really giving it this theatrical,
almost like show tunes feel to it that I think is really dope.
And hip-hop artists like Kendrick Lamar and Drake,
they find younger artists like you guys
that put together harmonics and sample those,
and those become the biggest records that you hear on the radio.
And I would love to put you guys in position
to be able to create some of that stuff from scratch like that.
So let's just recap here.
This is my last season on The Voice.
You can't have her.
Why is it so good?
You could pick Chance
with the goal of someday hoping to be featured
on somebody else's record.
Or you could pick Team Blake
and make your own record.
Isn't that how Sam Smith started?
Featured on, like, a dance track?
Just saying, it's not a bad plan.
I really want to try something.
There's a song from an amazing film called The Wiz.
I just wanted to see if you guys could do
a three-part harmony of this simple line.
Okay.
What could I do?
Tell me what.
What.
What could I do?
And tell me what.
What.
What could I do?
And tell me what.
What.
What could I do?
I'm telling y'all, I got y'all.
I got a vision.
Blake, shut.
What?
Sorrella, who do you pick as your coach?
The coach that we choose is Chance.
Oh!
I'm excited to have my first artist.
Sorrella was amazing.
I'm so excited to have a group on my team.
Come on, keep clapping!
As a producer, I love collaborating with vocalists,
different writers and choirs.
I think Sorrella have great success in this industry
because they can create new arrangements.
I look forward to seeing what they're gonna do.
I'm gonna get you guys two more hats, okay?
I brought my own special edition The Voice three caps
that only are available for the people on Team Chance,
and they look good in it.
I'm not gonna lie.
Yeah!
We have teams of 10, and it really makes it hard.
I mean, we had 14 people last season,
and so every spot truly does count.
Woo!
Chance absolutely slayed me on Sorrella.
The next thing I know, he's producing a record
live in front of our eyes.
Once that happened, I knew that it was over for me.
That was amazing.
What would I do?
Morgan Taylor, I'm 20 years old.
I'm from Carmel, Indiana,
and I'm currently living in Nashville.
Cool.
Because she wants to be a country singer,
I can tell already.
Do you want to be a country singer?
Awkward!
Are you singing around Nashville?
What are you doing there?
You know, since the pandemic,
I've not really gotten a chance to, like, do much of that,
and especially to school.
Vanderbilt or Belmont?
I'm at Belmont.
Oh, cool.
What are you studying?
Commercial music voice.
Oh, that's cool.
With an emphasis in songwriting.
What kind of music do you want to sing?
Kind of like what you just sang.
A Lizzo song is no small feat.
I was the last person to turn around,
because I know they're all going to be like,
why are you the last person to turn around?
Do we sound like that to you?
Yeah.
We sound like Charlie Brown's teacher to her,
all of us do.
That performance was, like, 95% of the way.
I feel like on the notes that you missed,
I could see that maybe you didn't support enough
because nerves got the best of you,
which I can totally relate.
Yeah.
I feel like I can really help you execute,
I know all of the tricks,
to basically get you from a 95 to, like, a 99.9.
She doesn't want you to get to 100 for some reason.
I don't want you to get to 100 because
if you were 100, you'd be a robot.
We don't want robot.
We want human.
We want emotion.
Plus, also, I know the pop landscape really, really well.
I would love to be your coach.
You got four incredible, well, I mean,
three incredible and super incredible people
that you can choose from.
I see somebody that was born to do what you're doing.
It's like, finally, you're on a stage,
and now America got to see you
belt out the gift that God gave you.
You know, your stage presence was great,
but I think that's one thing I could help you with, you know?
Just to bring out your own personality and your power.
I would love to have you on Team Gwen.
That song is such a daunting song to take on,
and you have such a really powerful soprano voice.
The higher part was so compelling.
It sounded like it should be on the radio.
It sounded special.
The other thing that's hard about that song, though,
is that rap singing part.
I feel like it trips everyone up.
I could just imagine you singing songs
that didn't require you to do that part.
Or changing it melodically would be cool.
Exactly.
You can work on your weaknesses,
work on things that are hard,
but sometimes it's better to just change it
so it plays to your strengths
and make it so you don't spend a second on stage
where you're not super confident.
What you're looking for in a coach
is just someone who can find the ways
to improve on those little things
so that you get to 100.
Not 99.9, but 100%.
And I'd love to do that for you.
Thank you.
Camila may know the pop landscape very well,
but we happen to be on The Voice,
and I know this landscape very, very well.
I push my button three seconds into you singing,
like, this person's voice matters
because you stand out.
She pointed at her notes.
I don't know, did you ever notice
that she'll, like, sing and then point up there?
The last one, she, like, tickled a little bit.
She did one of these things, like, to flip it around.
That's Mariah.
You got a point to it.
Yeah.
Punch some of them, slap some of them.
Literally unbelievable.
I would be so excited to have you on my team.
Thank you.
So, who are you gonna pick as your coach?
Right now, I don't.
So...
Hand your mind to me.
Forget it!
Oh, no!
I can't win, I can't write
I will never start without, without you
I am lost, I am by the sky
Without you, without you
I won't run and I won't fly
I will never make it by
Without you, without you
I won't rest and I won't fight
All I need is you and I
Without you, oh, without
I'm so blind, I lost my heart
I lost my mind without you
What's your name?
I'm Bo.
I didn't turn around because I was copying Danny.
I turned around, I turned around
because you picked that Usher, David Guetta song
but you didn't sing it nowhere near like Usher
and that was daring and courageous
and you put your style on it.
I was like, wow, that is refreshing.
You're awesome.
Thank you.
I love a good clash of two different worlds meeting together.
I would, though, have loved to have heard that acoustic
because I felt like I lost your voice in the...
I didn't lose it.
I heard it.
It was right there.
It's my turn to talk, yeah
and for me, the only reason I didn't turn around
was I just would have liked to have heard more power.
I know, that's cool.
These two, you've got a great choice here.
Yeah.
Over to Tommy O, Tommy Lichard.
Okay.
I really liked it, you know,
but I'm looking for something that hits me hard.
Personally, for me, I wasn't looking for anything else
but that voice.
Again, you don't really need to have power to show emotion
and one thing that I came on the show to find
was a unique voice and something that really,
the second you heard it on the radio,
it's going to stand out
and I really firmly believe that you have that type of voice.
Oh my God, I don't know what to do
and I'm meant to decide right now, aren't I?
I know what to do.
What I will provide is a real team.
You know, when I worked with Michael,
I brought my team.
It's a team.
You don't need all that.
You need all that.
You don't need to be blinded by...
Look, you can be blinded by science over there
or you can go with your gut and your heart.
I know we probably share the same record collection
because I hear...
We eat the same soup.
You like miso soup?
I love miso soup.
Oh my gosh, it's like the bomb.
Miso soup with a little green stuff in it.
If you went with him,
that would be the type of stuff you'd be getting day in.
You'd just be getting pure honesty from him.
I think you know where to go.
Oh gosh.
This is a beautiful part of the show
is that it's creative control.
You know, we're giving it back to the artist.
You can go with Mr. Woop Woop Woop Woop Woop over there
or you can go with me.
Team Z.
I'm really honoured that you turned around
and that you said all those lovely things
and I think you would be an amazing leader.
But I think I'm going to have a lot more in common with you.
Do you want miso soup?
I love miso soup.
Good choice, good choice, good choice.
I think you've made the perfect choice.
I'm so excited.
Team Danny.
Yeah.
She was lost
In so many different ways
Out in the darkness
With no guide
Yeah, this is it.
I found her
You were my last, my first
And then I hear this voice inside
Leigh Marie
Times love can pass you by
While you're busy making plans
Suddenly hits you and then
Realise it's out of your head
Baby, you've got to understand
That you were my help and honour
You were my last, my first
And then I hear this voice inside
Leigh Marie
Wow.
What is your name?
I'm Bella and I'm 23 and I'm from Sydney.
Why are you so emotional?
Tell us what's going through your head right now.
I'm just really excited to be here and to share something
and it just feels like the right time for me
so I'm really blessed to be here.
Oh good.
Yeah.
Wow.
So good.
Oh my gosh.
Yeah.
Oh my gosh.
What do you do?
What's your daily life like?
I'm a singing teacher
and I work for my church teaching singing.
I mean with that type of run and no soul
Yeah.
I was going to say you took it to church.
I have to ask.
I grew up singing in church.
I was in my church choir
And what do you think growing up in an environment like church
has taught you most about your gift?
I don't feel like I can lay claim to my gift
and I think humility and kindness are so incredibly important
and just the joy that comes from music
is something that's always worth sharing.
The weirdest thing right when I auditioned
I think was because you sing in church it's about other people
you're there to sort of give peace
and it's really grounding.
I think it's like your realisation that exactly what you said
your gift is for a reason and you've got to bring love to people.
You've put your gift out there now
but it's not a bad thing.
It's not a bad thing that your gift is about you as well.
The service is still there
but you discover that your gift actually will reach people
beyond what you thought it could reach
in the most humbling and the most purposeful way.
And I can see that humility.
I can see that love for your gift and it's beautiful.
There's no ego in it.
It's just like beautiful.
I mean that emotion only comes from a place of belief.
Yes.
As a singer to get to that point
of knowing you were going to nail that run
that you just delivered at the end of this.
Like when we got, I was like what happened?
I'm dizzy.
I was like I'm so dizzy.
I thought to myself, wow, this is a singer,
a real singer with true belief.
Yeah.
Thank you.
I'm just going to hit it off the bat.
I really, really would be honoured
to have someone like you on my team.
And I don't know who blocked Jess
and I don't want to get involved in that
but it was not me.
I'm so confused right now.
Like I'm, I think I'm just really mad.
I'm so mad.
Oh my goodness, you are incredible.
You just let it soar.
I am an awful person.
Yes you are.
You are.
Can I just say I'm happy that guy blocked Jess too
because I was going to do it.
Sorry Jess.
You know what, I forgive you.
We'll go fishing later but that's...
I just have to say you could be on any stage.
That voice is sublime.
Like it is like...
Yeah.
I would absolutely kill to have you on my team.
I genuinely just believe in you
and I think you're great
and I think you've got a future
and I want to be part of it.
You have this beautiful balance of strength
and vulnerability in your voice.
It's not just your ability with your voice,
with your gift.
It's the humanity that you've got inside there
and the things you've been through
and I don't even know what they are yet
but I could hear them and I could definitely feel them.
It was beautiful.
I would be honoured if you would pick me as your coach.
Before you choose,
I will never probably ever forget this audition, honestly.
That was a true amazing performance.
Yeah.
Okay, get us out of our misery.
Go, go, do it.
Do it, just do it.
I think the coach that I'm going to go with is...
Guy.
Gosh, your voice is crazy.
Well done.
Wow.
Thank you, thank you for sharing.
Thank you for your time.
Thank you so much.
That was unbelievable.
Thank you.
I can't wait to watch you blossom.
Hi, hi.
I love you.
That was very nerve-wracking but it went really well, I think.
Yeah, so unbelievably brilliant.
I can't tell you how proud I am.
It's off the limits.
Off the limits.
Best voice of the day.
Yeah, really.
Best voice of the day.
Guy, you've got some terrible revenge coming to you.
The revenge is going to be sweet, I feel.
It'll be sweet.
I'm sorry, Jess.
You wait, Sebastian.
I love the song.
Hey there, baby
I could use just a little help
Can't start a fire
You can't start a fire without a spark
This gun's for hire
Even if we're just dancing in the dark
This is crazy.
You sit around getting older
There's a joke somewhere and it's on me
I'll shake this world off my shoulders
Oh, come on, baby, the laugh's on me
Stay on the streets of this town
And they'll be carving you up alright
They say you've got to stay hungry
Well, hey, baby, I'm just about starving tonight
Dying for some action
I'm sick of sitting around here trying to write this book
I need a love reaction
Come on now, baby, give me just one look
You can't start a fire
Worrying about your little world falling apart
This gun's for hire
Even if we're just dancing in the dark
