If you're looking for an easy seafood pasta salad
that's perfect for cookouts and summer gatherings,
you're going to love this seafood pasta salad recipe.
So let's head over to the kitchen right away
so I can show you how easy it is to put this salad together.
All right, you guys, so I'm gonna show you
how to make my mom's shrimp and crab seafood pasta salad.
Here on the stove, we have some water boiling.
I'm actually gonna walk over and grab some salt
so we can salt the water to add more flavor to our pasta.
I'm just using some sea salt here.
So just salt the water to your heart's desire.
All right, so I salted the water.
Next, I'm going to take my bow tie pasta
and just add this to the boiling water.
And we're going to cook this until it's al dente.
All right, so we'll be back.
So next, we're going to take a nonstick pan
or you can use a stainless steel pan.
We're gonna melt some butter in the pan.
And once the butter is melted over medium heat,
we're going to saute our shrimp
and season it with some salt and pepper and some Old Bay
and set that aside once the shrimp is pink.
I'll bring you guys closer
so you can watch me saute the shrimp.
So in a large skillet over medium heat,
we're going to melt some salted butter
and then we're going to add our clean shrimp,
deveined shrimp to the pan in a single layer.
We're going to season the shrimp with some salt and pepper
and some Old Bay.
And you're only going to need to saute the shrimp
for three to four minutes,
flipping once until the shrimp is nice and pink
and slightly curled and just cooked through.
Be careful to not overcook the shrimp
because you could have rubbery shrimp if you do that.
Then you're going to remove the shrimp from the heat.
And if you want to,
you can chop the shrimp up into bite-sized pieces
or you can leave them whole.
It really just depends on how you like to enjoy
your seafood and the seafood pasta salad.
Now we're going to work on our dressing.
It's super easy to make.
So in a separate bowl,
you're just going to combine some mayo, sour cream,
lemon juice, garlic powder, Old Bay, salt and pepper,
celery, red onions, and fresh dill,
and whisk everything together
until it's nice and smooth and creamy.
Now that we have our cooked pasta and our cooked shrimp
and we just made our dressing,
we can now bring everything together.
So in a large mixing bowl,
you're going to dump in your drained pasta
and then pour over the salad dressing mixture
into the pasta and gently mix everything together.
I personally like to just set some dressing aside
so I can drizzle some on top
once everything is combined together.
Then you're going to fold in your shrimp
and also add in that shrimp juice
and then gently fold in your lump crab meat.
Be careful to not overmix the pasta salad
once you add in the crab meat
because you want everyone to have
nice bite-sized pieces of crab in your pasta salad.
All right, so after you mix everything together,
and if you want to,
you can garnish it with like some paprika.
I used Old Bay to add some additional color
and I want the extra flavor.
Just make sure you stir it before serving it
so it's not too concentrated.
We're going to put this in the refrigerator to chill
for at least an hour or two, but I'm greedy.
So let's go ahead and give it a taste now.
Let's see what it, I just want to know, like what is it?
What is it going to taste like?
I can't wait.
That is really good.
Really, really good.
I didn't use the full box of noodles
because it can kind of take over.
Like with crab cakes or any other seafood dish,
I want the seafood to shine.
And I feel like the ratios in this recipe
do a really good job at letting the crab meat come through,
the shrimp comes through beautifully.
Of course, Old Bay enhances everything.
I wish you were here in my kitchen right now
so you can like help me eat this.
We're going to throw some food on the grill
later on this evening
and have this as one of our side dishes,
but I hope you guys enjoy today's recipe.
