All the action from Day 3 of the 2026 World Cup _ Matchday 3 Roundup

Zakaria, stuttering that towards Mbolo, nudges it down and then the goalkeeper comes out, commits the challenge, it's a penalty Well there's some suggestion that there might have been an offside in the build-up but the referee very quickly pointed to the spot, the goalkeeper was late in getting there and as Remo Freuler went steaming through the middle he had his legs taken away from him and the ref calls penalty and now he will step up and Steer Switzerland in front a consummate professional from this spot Switzerland in front, early doors in the Californian sun and no one is surprised to see that it's Braille Mbolo once again netting goal number 25 for his country that's his 12th goal since the start of 2025 for Switzerland you've got to admire players when they walk up and just watch the goalkeeper it's a brave thing to do but when it works like that you can't save these penalties he just waits for the goalkeeper to go left and then hooks it to his right you can't save them trying to make some magic happen late on Ahmed's cross into the box, it's a dangerous one going to steal a point right at the very end levels things up and Switzerland's lack of ruthlessness comes back to bite them in the backside a first world cup point in the offing now for Qatar well if there's ever a time and a time to say I told you so it's coming it could come back and bite them it surely has there's still a couple of minutes left but the ball into the box is brilliant and how well does he do Wuki, far post, eye on the ball goes right over the top of the defender and the glory is his Diaz sifting it through here for Saimbar oh Saimbar time has he got enough to lock up Saimbar who's going to take it past Alisson but he's got the confidence to see where the keeper is and lift it and lift it perfectly so easy to tighten up as a striker in that situation when you've got a little bit of time to think about it but that's a relaxed, composed absolutely brilliant finish now are in and truth be told for the most part there's only been one team in this oddly it's not Brazil but Vinicius Junior can change all of that Vinicius Junior Bruno Gimaraes Vinicius Junior again Diaz to try and dig you out a big time it's world class absolutely lethal from the Real Madrid player of his 50th game famous Brazilian colours Vinicius Junior strikes his 10th goal for the nation and Carlo Ancelotti is off and running Che Adams who has brought it down a treat down and don't now past experience Adams is there and press the go button on their 2026 World Cup John McGinn with the goal maybe some special words by Steve Clark at the water break Yvonne Situations he has very quick feet ducks a little shoulder really good save by Placide at first and then really unlucky McGinn scuffs his shot deflected in the goal this is exactly what Scotland needed Haiti was just coming into the game they were the ones that were creating the chances Llamas and they're both ways and it's good there and it's on its way very kindly trying to control the bobby but Patrick Beach in the way for Australia it's almost perfect technique and all that came from Turkey pressing high and Irankunda for the Aussies it's Irankunda Nestori Irankunda just 20 years of age scores on the World Cup stage for Australia the what the mam are so ruthless there and the Socceroos had their big moments in Vancouver brilliant I mean we talked about Australia wanting to hit the spaces when Turkey get themselves up the pitch and they did so with absolute venom that's brilliant Irankunda just that touch there but he's got the pace to get on the end of it it looked like he was running away from him see better here that touch inside he's got that quick past it past the goalkeeper what a brilliant counter from Australia a player who brings the x-factor for Australia a player who was signed for Watford from Bayern Munich 12 months ago scoring his first World Cup goal his 6th goal for Australia overall Mankirchi goes Harry Suter oh that's a raspy hit it came off the woodwork what a strike there by Badakcian the big ten to half thought why not have a go and it was so near the one apiece strike that was good shot there from range it's 2-0 to Australia from somewhere else and the Socceroos now look to be on their way for an opening night win in Vancouver I'll tell you what Joe it's an almost perfect game plan from Australia the way that the team have defended the way that they've gone on the break scored that first goal stuck to the task in the second half and then Metcalf absolutely lets fly give the ball away in a really dangerous area but should have absolutely zero much chance really of scoring from there but brilliant from him bounces in front of the goalkeeper always going away from the goalkeeper I cannot believe it look at the celebration Connor Metcalf joyous moment for him and for the coach too Tony Popovich
