Hey guys, it's us and welcome to Shanghai, China.
I think this is a highlight of my day right now.
It's the best way to end the day for sure.
This is absolutely insane.
Bro, this store is huge.
It's crazy in here. Shopping is crazy.
People going crazy for clothes.
We're at Shanghai Disneyland.
Ooh, yo.
Holy crap, that is delicious.
Look at how cute they are.
Good morning.
First full day here in the beautiful city of Shanghai
and we're going to start this vlog off with some delicious local cuisine.
So let's go eat first.
Let's go.
All right, so this is the restaurant we're heading to.
They're known for their crab noodles and their xiaolongbao.
It's called Zhaizhai Tangbao.
I'm probably saying that wrong, but it looks super delicious here
and they have really good reviews, so we'll check that out.
So if you guys are wondering how we get around here in Shanghai,
we've been using the DiDi app.
So this is basically their Uber or their Grab here in the city of Shanghai.
So we are here now at the restaurant and our food just arrived.
It looks so good.
So they're very well known here for their crab noodle soup.
So what it is, is noodles with savory crab meat or crab roe.
From reading online, this is a must try here in Shanghai.
All right, let's mix the soup with the noodles.
Gosh, dude, that looks crazy.
It looks so savory and...
Smells so good.
Yeah, it does.
I love crab.
I feel like we're really gonna like that.
All right, let's give it a go.
Holy crap, that is delicious.
Packed with crab flavors.
So savory, so rich.
It's also so buttery too with the roe and the crab meat like mixed together.
Oh my gosh, babe, you're gonna love this.
Dude, that's so good.
That's easily a 10 out of 10 for me.
How's that?
Jan really got me wonton soup and he got himself a crab.
No, we're obviously sharing.
I'm gonna share.
This is so good.
That's so yummy, yeah.
You can see the crab eggs as well.
Packed with flavor.
Yeah, all I taste is crab.
It's so good.
All right, let's give this xiaolongbao a go.
We got our ginger with vinegar right here.
Oh, it's dripping.
Dip it in the vinegar sauce.
Yo, so much flavor in this little tiny dumpling.
Delicious.
Thank you.
So we're here now at our second stop, which is a cafe.
We're here to get some coffee.
We didn't have coffee yet.
We're here at a cafe called Metal Hands and apparently they're very well known for some
great coffee.
Honestly, the coffee scene here in Shanghai is just so great in general, but Metal Hands
is specifically known to have really good dirty pistachio latte.
Oh, that sounds so good.
That's so good.
Thank you.
All right, so I've got mine.
It's the mysterious dirty latte.
So we're about to find out what it tastes like.
That's strong, but that's really good.
All right guys, so we're here now at our second stop of today, which is Shanghai Tower.
What better way to see this mega city than at the very top of Shanghai.
So Shanghai Tower is the tallest building here in China and it is the third tallest
building in the world.
All right guys, so as always, if you want to skip the line, we booked our tickets on
Klook.
Use our code JIANINATKLOOK and you will save money.
Anyways, let's go to the very top.
And see nothing, apparently.
She said there's zero visibility.
Aww.
Man, we always get unlucky with these towers or buildings.
Here we go.
Welcome to Shanghai Tower.
We are taking the world's fastest high speed elevator.
In only 55 seconds, we will reach observatory of Shanghai Tower.
All right, so we're here now.
Oh my gosh.
Is this heaven?
Because I can't see nothing but clouds.
So there's legit no visibility up here.
Just use your imagination.
I mean, we can somewhat see down there.
But it's like this all week.
So even if we wanted to go tomorrow, like there would still be no visibility because
it's cloudy all week and we're only here for seven days.
I was actually really excited for this because apparently the view from up here,
especially at night, is crazy.
So we definitely got lucky.
We cleared up a little bit so we can actually see the city now.
All the houses and buildings from up here look like little Legos.
Look at that.
Damn.
So we just left the observatory deck.
Another cool thing to do here in Shanghai Tower is visit the bookstore.
It's called Duoyun Bookstore.
I'm not sure if I'm pronouncing that right, but it's on the 52nd floor and it is one of
the highest bookstores in the world.
Apparently, you do need a reservation to enter, but because we don't have a Chinese number,
we weren't able to make a reservation.
So we just went up to the guy and said that we weren't able to and he just let us through.
Whoa, this is so cool.
So they also have a cafe that has the view, but you need to buy something in order to
go outside.
So I think we're just going to get a coffee and then enjoy the view.
Thank you very much.
Let's go check this cafe out.
Whoa.
Okay, there's a view here.
There's some visibility here.
Wow, this has got to be the nicest cafe.
I now see why you need a reservation to come up here because I feel like if you didn't
have to make a reservation, it would be packed.
Ann is so happy right now.
I'm so giddy.
Like, I love bookstores and this is, like Jan said, probably the most beautiful bookstore
we've ever been to.
I mean, look at the view.
I mean, Jan has a really good bookstore, so.
Yeah, I came here for the view and the drink.
I don't even know if people actually come here for the books.
It doesn't look like it.
I think people just come here for the cafe and the view.

All right, guys.
So we are here now at our next location, which is Nanjing Road.
So Nanjing Road is very well known for its shopping and entertainment.
So if you guys love to shop, this is definitely the place.
Like this is shopper's paradise and first impressions, everything is so vibrant and
it has such an electric vibe and it's not even dark yet.
Yeah, I'm actually like super overwhelmed right now.
So coming to Shanghai, since it is our first time here, I had very high expectation of
the city.
Since it is the largest city in population here in China, so far it exceeded my expectations
and we've only been here for what, a day?
Yeah.
It's super modern, very clean and overall a beautiful city.
All right, so right now we're currently lined up for mochi.
I'm not sure if it's actually mochi, but there's a big line and it kind of intrigues
Ann and I.
All right, so we got some mochi.
Also guys, if you're wondering how to conveniently pay here in China, definitely download Alipay
because it's been a game changer.
Not a lot of restaurants, especially the smaller chains, they don't accept card.
Or cash.
Yeah.
Definitely download Alipay.
So it's basically their Apple Pay here.
All right, let's go eat.
Eat some more.
It looks like Shrek.
It's like what Shrek would poop out.
Okay, I didn't take it that far.
I was about to put it in my mouth.
Oh, that's interesting.
The texture is like mochi-like, but it tastes kind of like green tea.
There's like stuff inside.
Red bean?
Let's give this a go.
Yeah, it's red bean.
This one has some like flakes on it.
I'm guessing it's like coconut flakes.
It's really good though.
It's not so sweet.
It's like the perfect amount of sweetness.
It's like perfect dessert.
Oh, what's that in there?
It looks like black.
What's that?
I don't know.
Let's give this a go.
All right, so can someone tell us what this is?
The texture is like sand.
Sand?
It's like sand in my mouth.
I almost choked, bro.
I'm not sure what that black stuff is in there.
I'm not sure either, but damn, it's delicious.
All right, so it's now nighttime.
It's a totally different world out here at night.
It's so bright.
Yeah, so vibrant with all the neon lights.
Makes me want to shop and party.
Makes me not want to go home.
So we're just walking around now before we head to our next spot.
We're Canadians, right?
We grew up in Canada.
What is this disrespect that I see right here?
What is this?
What is that?
Tim's goat.
It's Tim Horton's.
It's Timmy's, all right?
Tim's goat.
What is this, bro?
So our next activity on our itinerary for today is a river cruise.
We're going to be doing the Huangpu River Cruise.
You guys already know where we booked it.
I don't have to tell you.
But we wanted to wait until nighttime to do this cruise
because as you can see behind me,
all the buildings are lit up and it looks absolutely magical.
All right, guys, so I had no idea Ann even booked this tour.
I think this is the highlight of my day right now.
Yeah.
So we wanted to see all of the city lights from Shanghai Tower,
but we highly recommend that you do the cruise instead
because it takes you along the river
and you can see some of the most iconic spots here in Shanghai
as well as the beautiful buildings.
Oh my gosh, this is absolutely insane.
It's the best way to end the day for sure.
Look at all the lights.
Shanghai at night is crazy, bro.
It's just so bright out here.
It's lit out here.
It's lit.
All right, so we paid like $15 for this cruise on Klook.
And it's a 45-minute cruise and it's beautiful.
Yeah, this is definitely a must-do here in Shanghai.
You have to do this at night especially.
At night.
Yeah.
So we are ending our night here at Yuyuan Old Street
and it's basically a historic and traditional shopping street.
And you can also find some local eats here.
So before we end the night, we're gonna go shopping first and eat.
Mostly eat.
All right, so we're walking around.
There's so many food stalls here.
As you can see, this street is very vibrant, lit up,
and just full of energy.
We love it.
So this place feels like a Chinatown, but we're in China.
All right, we're trying to see if we can find some xiaolongbao
or some pork fried buns.
But unfortunately, it's already 10 20 p.m
and most of the restaurants here are actually closed.
But there are some stalls on the side of the main road that are still open.
So let's go see what they have.
All right, guys, not a lot of restaurants are open right now.
So this is what we found.
There's a McDonald's over there.
Yeah, I don't know.
Everything's closing, unfortunately.
We lost track of time because we were having so much fun.
But if you guys are coming to Yuyuan Old Street,
definitely come early so you can really take in the place.
It's beautiful here.
Yeah, because there are so many other restaurants we wanted to try,
but unfortunately, they were closed.
All right, let's give this xiaolongbao a try with crab roll and meat.
Soy sauce inside.
Cheers.
You go first because it's hot.
Oh, that's so good.
That's pretty good, actually.
That needs some spice.
That's yummy.
Yeah, put some chili oil on it.
Look at that.
That was good.
All right, guys, it is now 10.45 pm and we need to go home.
But it's been an amazing first day here in Shanghai.
Definitely exceeded my expectations.
Such a beautiful city.
The city blew me away, for sure.
I think the highlight for today was definitely the cruise.
Yeah.
And Nanjing Road.
Yeah, definitely.
