The perfect time out during lock down and a great way to start the day. LearningMole has teamed up with C&B Kids Yoga to bring you a fun yoga lesson that the whole family can get involved in.
Hello and welcome. I'm Conny from CNP Yoga and I have with me today Jessica.
And we both want to explore our hearts together with you.
That means filling our hearts with love and letting love flow into our bodies and out of our bodies.
Before we get started, let's have a little bit of a game, shall we?
It's called Love It or Leave It.
So you come into different postures when I'm randomly calling out some items.
So if you love or like something, you come into a star posture.
Arms reach up high to the sky, feet a little bit wider.
And if you don't like something and you rather leave it, you come into a child's pose.
So you make yourself really, really small, like a little ball.
Okay, let's go and get started.
Chocolate. I like chocolate.
Smelly feet. Good.
Next item. Candy.
We all love a bit of candy. I like candy.
Frogs.
And the last one.
Ice cream. I like ice cream.
Good. So thank you for joining in.
So to get our heart rate up a little bit, we're going to do five jumping jacks.
Okay.
Good.
So from here, come into a seated position.
That can be crossing your legs or any comfortable seated position.
So bring one hand onto your heart and also the opposite hand just on the top of your hand.
And feel.
Do you feel your heart beating?
I feel my heart beating.
You can join in.
A bit of drumming.
Did you actually know that your heart beats about 100,000 times a day?
That's a lot of drumming.
So today, we're also exploring the qualities of our heart.
What qualities or characteristics can our hearts have?
I would think definitely love.
Joy.
Peace.
Compassion.
Hope.
And kindness.
So before we get started, just take four deep breaths in.
So bring your arms out wide.
Open them out wide.
Maybe look up to the sky.
Inhale.
Exhale.
And as you exhale, give yourself a hug.
And bring your chin towards your chest.
Looking down towards your feet.
Inhale.
Come back up.
Open your arms.
And cross the opposite arm on top.
Chin towards your chest.
Looking down towards your feet or tummy.
Twice more.
Inhale.
Arms wide.
Maybe look up to the sky.
Exhale.
Opposite arm on top.
Chin towards your chest.
Last one here. Inhale.
Breathe in all that love and joy.
Exhale.
Chin towards your chest.
Give yourself a hug.
Good.
So how can we make our hearts a little bit bigger
so we can fill our hearts with all those qualities and characteristics?
Well, I certainly suggest we're doing a little bit of yoga.
So we're stretching our chest, our upper body a little bit to expand our hearts.
So before we do this, let's just come with a little bit of some neck rolls.
So you can roll your head to your neck from side to side.
Sometimes our shoulders feel a little bit tense, a little bit tired.
And then wiggle your shoulders.
So just bring your shoulders up towards your ears.
Good.
Alternating, yeah, anything.
And we circle them.
And then the opposite way.
Good.
So I'm going to get warmed up a little bit.
We're going to warm up with some sun salutation.
So we're saying hello to the sun.
We're greeting the sun, but also our inner sun.
So we're doing three rounds.
I talk you through.
You can join me.
Stand up and if you have a yoga mat, come to the top of your yoga mat.
If you don't, that's fine.
You just need a little bit of space to move back.
So on the inhale, reach up high.
Exhale.
Roll down low.
Tickle your toe.
Shake off your head.
Hands down.
Step back into plank.
Strong plank.
Tummies shouldn't be here.
They should be up a little bit higher.
And then lower down.
So we're coming into cobra.
So as you press into your hands,
you come up.
Look over your left shoulder.
Look over your right shoulder.
We make a hissing sound.
One more.
Good.
So press into your hands.
We're pressing up into tabletop.
And from here, curl the toes under.
Lift your bottom up.
Downward dog.
So we're staying here for two long breaths.
Inhale for your nose.
Exhale.
Inhale for your nose.
Exhale.
And then step or walk towards your hands.
And then come all the way up to standing.
Reach up to the sky.
Fingertips together.
Come, bring your hands towards your heart center.
One round.
Second round. Inhale. Reach up.
Exhale.
Fold down.
Lower to your tiptoe.
Hands down.
Step or jump back into plank.
So we're holding here for three breaths.
Strong plank. You can do it.
And then lower down.
Cobra.
Inhale. Reach up.
Good hissing.
And coming back to stillness.
Press into your hands.
Tabletop.
And then push your bottom back into downward dog.
Maybe even bend one knee at a time.
So walk your dog.
Two deep breaths.
In through your nose.
Exhale.
In through your nose.
Exhale out of your mouth.
And then walk.
Step towards your hands.
And then reach all the way up.
Palms together.
Bring them towards your heart center.
Jessica, do you want to do the third round?
Yeah?
Let's go.
Hands up.
Reach the sky.
Fold down.
Step or jump back into plank.
Hold there for two deep breaths.
Lower down into cobra.
Cobra on the left shoulder.
Cobra on your right shoulder.
Left.
Right.
And come back to stillness.
Down.
Push up into tabletop.
And press your feet into the mat.
And go up into downward dog.
Walk your dog.
Stay here for three deep breaths.
Make your dog do one side.
Hold it for one breath.
Put it down and do the other side.
And also hold it for one breath.
Now walk.
Step or jump towards your hands.
Hands up.
And then together.
Step down to your heart.
Good. Thank you.
Stay here for a couple of breaths.
Bring your thumbs to your heart center.
You can also close your eyes
if that feels comfortable.
Feel your heartbeat.
Feel that drumming once more.
Take another two deep breaths.
In through your nose.
Exhale.
In through your nose.
Exhale.
Well done.
We're going to continue moving a little bit.
Step back with your left foot
so your right foot
places forward.
Then your knee.
We're bouncing here a little bit.
The back foot is down
on the floor.
So from here
you bring your hands into cactus arms.
I'm just turning around.
Bend your elbows
and your palms face forward.
Good.
We're going to
open our hearts a bit so you can lean back
a little bit so your chest lifts.
And on the exhale
bring your elbows and palms together.
Inhale. Open.
Exhale. Close.
Inhale. Open.
Exhale. Close.
Twice more.
Well done. Inhale. Open.
Exhale. Close.
Last one. Inhale. Open.
Exhale. Close.
Keep your knee bent.
We bring our hands behind our back.
Make a fist and draw the fist
towards the floor.
Shoulders really open wide.
You can look up
to reach for the sun once more.
So
either stay here if that feels
okay or lean forward.
You can take your hand up
towards the sky so you're loving your head.
Needs to be a bit of balance.
Breathe.
Strong feet.
Well done. And then coming
back up. Release your hands.
Maybe give them a bit of a shake.
So we come into balancing posture.
Shift your weight
into your front foot
and lift up into aeroplane.
So find your balance.
Find a fixed gaze for your eyes.
Hands can be anywhere.
Out of sight. On your hips.
Out in front.
So breathe.
Balancing. Good balancing.
And then slowly
bring your foot back.
Shake off your legs.
Opposite side. The opposite foot
forward. Front knee bent.
And just bouncing with your knee a little bit
so the knee bounces forward.
Oops.
Balance.
I'm just turning around so you see me
better. Jessica stays as she is.
So have the back foot forward
a little bit better.
So then bend your knee. Bring your hands up.
Elbows bent. Palms facing
forward. Maybe
lean back a little bit. Look up.
And then bring elbows and
palms together. Inhale.
Exhale.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Last one here. Inhale.
Exhale.
Then take your hands behind your back.
Make a fist.
Draw the fist away
from you. Open for the shoulders.
If you want to stay
here, otherwise fall forward.
Bring your arms up towards the sky.
Balance.
Strong feet. Strong legs.
And I'm coming back up.
Shake out your arms.
Get ready for
take off. Shift your weight.
And then
find your still
point your eyes can
focus on. Either arms
out to the side
or to your hips.
Out forward.
You might be wobbly.
You might fall.
Come back in.
And then bring your leg down.
Shake it out.
So we're coming to downward dog
once more. So inhale.
Arms up. Exhale.
Fall forward. Tighten the toes.
And down.
Step back into downward dog.
So hips
up high. Maybe
bend one knee at a time.
And I'm coming down
onto your tummy.
So bring your legs, tummy,
chest up. Maybe
just take a few moments to rest.
Take
three deep breaths into your tummy.
Feel the tummy pressing against
the floor. So
from here we're coming into swing.
Come onto your forearms
and then lift yourself up.
So looking forward.
Breathe.
Two deep breaths.
So from here
lift your navel
so you're looking towards your tummy.
And then look
forward. Lift your
navel. Lift your bottom up a little bit.
Good. Last one here.
Lift
and tummy
lift. Good.
Coming back down.
Come back onto the earth and just
bend one knee.
Maybe you can just wiggle those legs
and then bring
one hand behind you. Holding
tight one leg so you're
stretching and flying
a little bit. You can rest your head.
A couple of deep breaths.
And then switch
legs. Opposite side.
Reach back. Hold
onto your ankle, to your foot.
Good.
So release the foot.
If you want to join me,
you can come up into bow.
So bend both knees. Reach your arms back.
And then lift your head to shoulders.
Kick your feet into your hands.
And come back down.
Right here onto the floor.
So we're lifting up a few more times.
Inhale. Lift. Kick.
Exhale. Down.
Opposite side. Twice more.
Inhale. Lift.
Exhale. Down.
Last one
here. Inhale.
Well done.
And exhale. Down. Release your
feet. Wiggle your bottom.
And
from here we're bringing the hands
down and shifting up into
tabletop and child's pose.
So make yourself really, really small.
You can bring your head onto the floor.
And we're staying here for
three deep breaths.
So breathe in through the nose.
Exhale.
Inhale through the nose.
Exhale.
Last one here.
Inhale. Exhale.
And then
slowly lift up into
kneeling. And just
take a few moments to notice how you feel.
So I'm just
turning around to face the camera.
So from here, you can
stay here, just resting
on your knees, on your
feet. You can come into a cross-legged position.
So bring both hands onto
your heart center.
And just tune into
your breath. So notice the sound of your breath.
And
from here, we're doing a bit of a loving-kindness
meditation.
So as you breathe in,
imagine a warm color, maybe yellow,
maybe orange. And fill yourself
with that color.
So I'm choosing the color. I'm filling my whole
body, my arms, my legs with red.
I'm filling myself
with love. So as you breathe in,
imagine you are breathing in
love and kindness.
So a couple of breaths.
Fill your whole body with love.
So then imagine someone
you really like and really have
an easy relationship with.
And as you exhale,
extend that love
and kindness to that person.
So with every exhale,
you send that person some
love and kindness.
And now imagine a person
that is having a difficult time at the moment
or you don't get along very well.
And also
send that person some
love and kindness. With every exhale,
just imagine
that love and kindness
is going to go out to that person.
And
then with your next exhale,
send
a little bit of love and kindness out into
the world to all the animals, the trees,
the neighbors.
They all
need a little love and kindness.
And from here,
take one more deep breath in.
Fill yourself with love and kindness once more.
And exhale.
And
bring your hands together.
Bless you.
And
bring your hands up towards your head.
You almost imagine kind
thought. Bring your hands
to your mouth. Kind
words. Bring your
hands to your heart center.
Kind hearts.
Thank you for joining us today.
We're finishing
today by saying Namaste,
which means the light in you
sees the light in you.
I hope you join us next time again.
Thank you.
