Do you know that playing some maths games with your kids is considered the best educational method to help them learn? Counting for kids is the baby steps which they take into the world of Math and in this video, we brought some simple games that would help them in the process.

Counting is the initial steps taken in math classes because it proves that the kids know the numbers and know their order. There are different games that would prove the ability of the kid to count and in this video we are bringing some ideas related to building blocks and the tiny characters which the kids love to play with - that's of course in addition to using pen and paper!

To teach James how to count, Michelle first asked him to count the number of blocks and characters she held for him, which he did. This is important also because the kid will start to correlate between the thing he is holding and the number he is counting and that happens by moving the objects while counting.

The next game for counting is writing numbers on a paper and then asking the kid to count by placing an object on every single number while moving through it. Michelle wrote the numbers from one to ten and James managed to place an item on every single one while counting from one to ten.

There are different ways to teach the kid how to count through using the same toys and the same objects. From the other ways that Michelle used is drawing six different ladybirds on the paper and within every single one of them she drew a number of dots, the game was to ask James if he can see a ladybird with a specific number she mentions and he should either say yes and place an item on it or else say no if there is none.

There are lots of different ways to play counting with the kids, you could ask the kid to go around the house and find for you the items you are drawing on a piece of paper, for example five drawn cars, and every single time he manages to get one, he should count it.

It is important to play a game along with your kids while you are teaching them something and giving them a lesson because that way they will be more excited to try and more eager to learn. One of the ways Michelle always tends to use with teaching her kids is tricking them by either asking a question which its answer is nowhere to be seen in the game they are playing, or else give an answer to a question she was asked about that is wrong to see whether the kids will notice the wrong answer or will not.

Since we are talking about math and the lessons that we could teach the kids through using their toys, we have to say that there are lots of different ideas which we have brought before through our channel, LearningMole, and which ended up being successful when we intended to use them with our kids.

There are different aspects related to math, there is counting the numbers and there is addition, subtraction, division and multiplication, and every single one of them might have its own games and techniques which will all depend on the age of the kid you are playing with and the lessons of math that he has already learned.

It is important to teach your kid to understand addition while you are homeschooling him/her (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2BVO76JujQ) and this will happen through coming up with creative games and lessons (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPKQy2bERtk). There are those related to addition (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ART8iVG3yHg) and there are those which are related to teaching them subtraction (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-YBC4LPOQw), on the other hand there are those games and lessons related to division (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVM8iQMaZN8) as well as those which will teach them multiplication (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHkqI5D8N3Y).

As much as you might think that the game you came up with is enjoyable and the kids are loving it, you should inspect the results, see whether they are responding in a positive way or not and ask them if they are loving their time and what they are actually doing and playing with or not.

Try this game with your kid to teach him/her to count and tell us about the feedback!
