Hey everybody, welcome back for the final WTSO Premium Wine Club for 2024,
and what better way to end the year than with a bang, or maybe actually a pop. So it's only
appropriate that this time of year we celebrate with some beautiful bubbles, right? In particular,
French Champagne. But the French have been holding out on us. They kind of have a little secret that
they're not telling, and that's that French Champagne wouldn't be what it is today if it
In its early days, when French Champagne was still being perfected, the Brits were one of
the first cultures to adopt sparkling wine. In fact, they loved it so much that they made the
first Champagne bottle and they patented the first recipe for actually making Champagne in the year
1663. And now, hundreds of years later, the English actually have their own sparkling wine
that rivals some of the best French Champagne. So in this month's Premium Wine Club, we're going
First, we have a lovely Champagne that's made by a small producer in the Montagne-Terrain region
of Champagne. That's a tough one to say. Yann Alexandre is an 8th generation Champagne maker.
He and his wife craft this organic Brut Noir. It's made from Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay,
and Pinot Noir. This wine is aged for four to five years, so you're going to get a lot of that
creamy yeastiness in there. And it's very mineral laden too, nice and bright and lean,
with a little hint of smoke and some green apple as well. So all of you classic Champagne lovers
are definitely going to love this one. And of course, we can't forget the English.
Digby's Fine English is located in West Sussex, UK, and their Brut Non-Vintage here is made with
a similar blend of Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir. It's a very similar recipe to
the Champagne in this set, but it's completely different in style. And this one spends 24 months
aging on the yeast, which means you will get a slight creaminess in there, but a lot more of
fruit forward profile. So what's the difference between the two countries? That is part of the
fun of a premium wine club, getting the chance to taste great wines like this side by side.
And then when we do our live tasting in the following month, we can really dig in and talk
about it at length, get intimate and interactive, and appreciate each one of them in their own right.
So both of these wines are offered to you in this month's set for an exclusive price that
only WTSO can offer. You'll get both of these wonderful wines delivered to your door for no
additional charge. A couple of educational videos about these wines, a Vecmois with me,
a food pairing recipe, and that's in preparation for our live tasting,
which happens on the third Thursday of the following month. So let's get together one
last time to bid farewell to 2024 and to ring in the new year with some amazing bubbles.
Thank you so much for a wonderful year. I'll see you on the other side, everybody. Cheers.
