If your child is learning English you will know that English spelling can -be tricky as all words in the English language are not phonetic so by giving your child English spelling games or spelling bee games, they can begin their spelling word practice in a more fun and interactive way.
The main idea behind this alphabet game is to teach the child to learn writing letters in several ways but in different orders given. This game requires a dice, a piece of paper with the instructions for every number that the kid will get on the dice, and eventually the empty piece of paper which the kid will write the word on.
Every single time the kid will throw the dice, he/she will be asked to perform the task given for this number, it could be to write the word with a specific hand, it could be writing the word up-side down, it could be writing it with different colors, etc. this will depend on the creativity of the parent and the orders they are giving.
In order to make sure that the kids are practicing it all, you should remove the word they are supposed to work on and write down after their second trial, this will give them the chance to remember how it should be written and will help them to practice the whole thing. In order to make sure that the kids are not cheating, remove the paper totally or else fold it over so that they find it hard to see what is written on the other side.
There are still other creative games that parents could depend on and try with their kids. One of them is the XO game but instead of filling those boxes with X's and O's, the parent will assign a word for the kid to write in the boxes and will then choose one for himself/herself. This is one good practice for the kids to depend on and manage to write down the letters, read the words, and recognize these words later on (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DO_qeSroDs).
Spelling worksheets or spelling resources like this are so easy to make and can be as challenging or as easy as you like - you can begin with ABC spelling and develop the words for kids as they become more confident.
It all starts with learning the ABC alphabet and this we all know could happen through singing it in a song or writing it down to the kids (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smcw82TTh_M), then it comes to the part of teaching the kids these letters and how to write them down (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=339D5-WijRk), and eventually it all comes to this part of pronouncing the letters correctly and knowing that this will also differ when it comes within a word, which is phonics (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQoFRGX83to).
Spelling and writing games for kids are all important, they give the kids the chance to play while at the same time learn something new to them, which is exactly what will keep them excited and will also make them the ones asking for the whole thing to be repeated and the game to be played once again (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wmk5gY7Zb00).
Always give the child the freedom to do whatever they want as long as they are responding to the needs of the game and at the same time make them the ones leading it because that's when they will love repetition and will ask you to play with them more than once.
This is one of the different techniques used with kids when it comes to the spelling and the writing games which they could play and depend on, but there are lots of others which they could try out as well!

In this video we are going to look at spelling and we're going to look at those tricky words
that children don't always find easy because they're not phonetically correct. They don't
follow a phonics pattern so it's very hard for them to sound them out. They will hear obviously
some of the sounds within the word but they won't be able to sound out every single letter which they
would normally do to help them spell and this is just a little fun activity that involves some
repetition but in a more challenging way and in a way that doesn't just about writing the word
five times over because that can get a bit boring after a while. I like to call it roll and spell
and it is just a little game with a dice and different challenges and again you set the
challenges that you want so we have got if you throw a number one on your dice Aaron what do
oh my goodness and if you wait just wait i'm throwing the dice yet
if you throw a two what you have to do
and if you get a three what do you have to do have a look
and if you get a four what do you have to say
and if you get a five right upside down and then if you get a six
write the word in rainbow colors
so it's just a little way of getting that repetition in and that practicing but in a
wee bit more of a fun way than just rewriting the word over and over again i'm going to get
your pencil case so if you need to write in rainbow colors i'll give you a rainbow pen
would that be a good idea yeah you've got that okay right so the word we're going to focus on
is wood one of these really tricky ones that children find really hard and because it is that
phonics pattern within it is really difficult and it is one that children just really need to learn
so we're going to do wood okay right so let's see what we're going to do first so throw your dice
a three so what do you have to do right do you think you can write it backwards okay right off
you go yes good boy good now careful what's next just cross that out and start again okay
so initially i'm going to let them have the word in front of them but as we go through this
i will remove the word so that it is that starting to practice those letters within
that word so that he's really starting to get a good grip on reading it and writing it
beautiful okay right off you go throw your dice again
oh write it with your opposite hand okay
it's a bit wonky isn't it that's because you're used to writing with your other hand isn't it
what's your last letter
good good boy right next throw your dice what's going to be next
now no cheating go down here so you can see it right close your eyes
i'm going to watch you see if you're any cheating what comes next okay what comes next yes what
comes next yes and what's the last one wound good boy so and if they are stuck in that do
let them have a little peek but this is a good one for starting to get that repetition going
that's not bad good boy right next one let's see what you're going to do now
okay you're getting the hang of that one aren't you good job now this time i'm going to make it
a bit trickier so this is where you want to introduce that element of challenge this time
i'm going to fold the paper in half aaron so you can't see the word anymore so have one more peek
okay oh there's one still hiding there fold that one up okay right throw your dice and let's see
if you can remember it now oh what have you to do what have you to do
excellent cute boy right throw your dice again and i'm going to keep folding it so we can't
see it so really that repetition and that idea of actually learning that word is really starting
to come into play now good boy and what's the word wood good boy can you give me a sentence
with the word wood in it now this isn't wood on a tree this is would you like to go to the party
because there's two different types of wood isn't there and then introduce the idea of it being a
homophone because there's wood that's wood that tables are made from and it's spelt how do you
spell it do you know sound it out so how do you spell it m w o u d it could be o u but it's o o
okay so this isn't that word sure it's not because this is spelled a different way isn't it
all right last one throw your dice i hope it's the rainbow you like the rainbow one
upside down oh what is it
do you want to turn it upside down would that be easier
you're going to do it upside down okay you're really going to challenge yourself
how do you do what a w upside down
oh it was easy it's the same isn't it and then what's next
okay well let's cross it out and start again so as you can see just a really fun activity
it gets the idea of that repetition in you can change the word as you go through you'll be
and change the rules accordingly depending on if you want to even make it a bit more active
that could be the children having to go around your house doing stuff with these numbers but
it just gets that idea of practicing those words in a more interactive and fun way than just writing
the word over and over again but as you can see this is a really enjoyable activity it takes a
couple of minutes to prepare and all you really need is a pair is a pencil a blank page and your
little set of rules and a dice
