It's hay season here in the French countryside! I am enjoying gentle days, trying to survive the heatwave and doing little projects around the house and I am taking you to Beaune, brocante shopping and a new French patisserie I have discovered in Mercurey. I hope you'll enjoy this one!
Bonjour! Well, we are full in end of spring, start of summer mode. Lots of tourists have come to
Burgundy as they do every year and it is just such a lovely season. I feel there is lots of markets,
Vite Grenier, live music everywhere. It's just a wonderful time of year and the good thing
here, this is Beaune, the little town of Beaune, very known for its wines but it's actually really
not very big and the good thing I feel about this region is that it never gets overly crowded.
So we definitely see that there's a lot more people and the campsites are full, hotels are full
but it is never too much. I actually really enjoy seeing how all these people come to enjoy
my beautiful region, how they are discovering all the beauty that it has to offer. And it always,
when I walk the streets, when I see all these tourists, it always invites me to do the same
and pause and take a bit of a tiny break and enjoy, sit and have a coffee somewhere and just
pretend that I'm on a holiday really. And in this video I just wanted to take you along with me in
the past couple of weeks. I had a lot of footage still that I hadn't shared yet and I just wanted
to share that with you. We recently discovered a wonderful new patisserie traiteur and this is in
the village Mercure which is on the Côte Chalonaise where a friend of mine lives and we hadn't seen
each other in quite some time so it's so nice to take some time and catch up with friends. You know,
it sounds so easy but I always seem to be so busy that these simple moments of just, even if it's
just over lunch like we did here, it really is something that I want to spend more time on and
be more intentional with. So that was really lovely. The other lovely thing that happened is that we
had a guest and she's come before and she always comes to Gobourgan shopping and we always go
together to all of my, and they have become her, favorite places as well and I'm going to take you
with us. They're so happy. Come on girls. Oh, if the first one goes the wrong way they all go the wrong way.
I think they're going into the fields. Oh, wrong way.
So here we are at Véronique. I think I've shared this so many times before. I have shared the
address of this many times before. I have no intention of keeping anything secret.
It's Véronique d'Apremont. She is on the road between Autun and Lusie and she always has
beautiful items. I got these copper pots and Véronique told me they were her mom's and she
was now selling them for her mom, which I thought was really lovely because I actually got them
from the money that my mom gave me for my birthday and I still hadn't picked anything.
So I thought that was beautiful and they were brand new. They had never been used and they're
so beautiful. I like these as well actually for cheese but then the thin ones.
Those are those. Those are a little more subtle.
It's beautiful. I'm very big for a woman who has four kids and needs to get a lot of pancakes
because I have a plastic one so I don't really need it. I like this as well. I really like this.
Is it for butter? Yeah and it has a cow on it. I like it. I have so many of these already but I
really like this style.
So
we're currently in a pretty bad heat wave. I think that's happening in most of Europe at this moment
and this is actually the second or maybe third period this year already that we're experiencing
a long period of drought and really warm temperatures. So I don't know what this
wine year is going to be like. I do know we're trying to keep cool here. This is early morning
in the vineyards. There were linden blossoms here on this huge tree in the middle of the vineyards
and I decided to pick some and dry it so I can make tea. And that's all I've got for you this
week. The first batch of homemade confiture is done and there will be many more that will follow.
Thank you so much for watching and I'll be back soon with a new video.
