An adventurous guide to the Super Buggy tour in Amber Cove, Dominican Republic. The experience is characterized by extreme mud, jungle trails, and cultural stops, concluding with a tour of the Amber Cove cruise port amenities.
I'm pissed. I didn't know you were gonna get this dirty.
But it was so much fun.
And don't miss the end of this video because we're gonna take you around Amber Cove.
You gotta see this place. It's the place to finish your day no matter what tour you're on.
And the link to this tour is down below.
The buggy tour through the mud. Mama Juana made me do it.
This is how you get out of this cruise port. Find where the buses are
and all the way out to the end is the exit.
About a 20 minute walk to your meeting place.
I wouldn't come out the meeting place.
This is where you're looking for a buggy. You're looking for a guy.
One that's got the buggy, the red shirts, right?
Yeah, exactly.
We are going extreme.
Doing buggies.
This is gonna be the ultimate tour.
Everybody getting suited up for the day.
Forget the instructions there before you hit the trails.
There's our rides.
There's Laura. She's ready to roll.
In the front like now, sparking.
Reverse a little back.
And all the way by driving.
Now, let me give you some great information on this tour.
Number one, don't bring shoes.
Bring water shoes or flip-flops.
Literally, your feet will be drenched.
I wouldn't wear socks.
They will get soaked as well.
Now, what all is included on this tour?
From the time you leave, it's about a three-hour tour.
They stop at a couple of villages.
You drive through villages.
You'll see them opening gates to let all the buggies through.
They must pay people to use their property.
Then you wind up at a beach because trust me,
you're gonna want to get out and get all this dirt off of you.
It's a great beach, the one they took us to that day.
Now, on the tour, it's kind of like in a little bit of a town area.
You're gonna be in hard pavement, but don't worry.
You're not gonna be on that for very long.
You will get soaked from the point you turn off the main road.
If you're interested in doing this exact tour,
I've got links down in this description for this exact tour that we took.
It's the super buggy tour.
It leaves right out of Amber Cove.
You just got to get outside the port.
That's the key.
If you read some of the comments, some of the negative ones is always,
where is the meeting place?
You go out the gate and you will see people lined up, vehicles lined up.
Just ask which one is the one you're supposed to be at.
I'm riding.
Oh, what's coming up now?
Just so you know, they will tell you this when you get there.
Their goal is to make you as dirty and wet as possible.
Trust me, that is the case.
Look at all this mud.
It can be dusty too.
The dust wasn't a factor until we were out on the roads.
And if there was carts in front of you or buggies, yes, you will get dusty.
You will want to bring a bandana.
But if you don't have one, they sell them there.
Do you see how muddy this was?
Mud was literally coming over the top of the cart and crashing down on our clothes.
It's quite a little darn dirty today.
This is crazy.
Check it out on our behind-the-doors tour.
Oh my goodness.
Oh ----.
Very wet and very slippery.
And muddy.
There is sand from one end of my body to the next.
And mud.
Oh god.
I think we will be getting in the ocean when we get there.
The ocean?
To clean them off.
The pool, the ocean, and everything in between.
This is the crazy guy.
Let's see you, Don.
Hi Don and Susan.
Another tip, trust me on this one.
If you don't have a waterproof bag and you have a camera or a phone,
make sure you get a waterproof bag.
Because I had dirt inside my bag.
I don't even know how it got in there.
It literally seeped to seep through all the cracks and crevices.
There's a lot of ruts in this road.
Oh this looks steep as ----.
Don't let it slide, honey.
We're in the jungle now.
I don't know if you can see this.
My camera lens might be completely covered in mud like us.
I feel sand in my underwear.
Look at the mountains.
It's so beautiful in it.
I thought they had more suspension on these dune buggies.
Don't miss the end of this video.
I'm going to show you some of the highlights of Amber Cove.
Things you can do when you get back to the cruise port.
My god, this is so dirty, muddy, wet, and fun.
Did you see so much mud and filth in your life?
You can see Laura.
She had to drive because I had the video.
She is having a blast.
Let me tell you, my camera is literally going up a foot.
But with this camera, Justin fixes everything.
Don't let this place fool you.
We got in this thing.
It was crystal clear.
It's all mud down.
Oh my god, this mud.
It's all the way down my pants.
Look at our legs.
They were pink.
Our pink shoes are dirty.
They are brown now.
Do not wear nice clothes.
You want to wear the oldest stuff you can think of taking.
Because if you wear a white shirt,
I am not kidding you as you will see in this video,
we were totally brown from all that Dominican mud.
This tour takes you through so many different villages.
Oh, don't worry.
You're going to see cows along the way.
Right there is one out there.
If you're coming to Amber Cove or you've been here before
and you want to do something different,
get on these buggies.
The tour guides were phenomenal in teaching you how to drive one.
It's a gas and a brake.
That's pretty much it.
You're going to see here.
Don't look at my camera.
My camera adjusts for this.
You are going to be going over some extreme holes.
If you have a bad back or you have problems in your back,
do not do this tour.
I can't stress it enough.
I thought he said there'd be mud on this trip.
Trying to close on the cactus.
Hey, you didn't tell us we were going to get dirty.
This is what you get dirty on.
Doing buggy tour.
Oh my God.
My feet are soaked.
Here's Laura.
She is crusty from head to toe.
All right.
We're going to taste some chocolate.
You get a chocolate stop.
You got me homemade.
Mama Juana here.
Mama Juana here too.
For the lady first.
And pure tobacco too.
Because it's a little hot.
For you, sir.
What's it?
What do you have?
Chocolate or coffee?
Mmm, it's so good.
Like hot chocolate?
Yeah.
Cheers, honey.
Did you have the Mama Juana yet?
Yeah, but you missed dad.
You know what is the fruit?
Yeah, good job.
We like this.
This is cocoa beans.
But this is good too for you eat it.
Because it's good for the Abori people.
It's good for the outsiders too.
Because you know that cocoa is not sweet.
Yeah.
This is like Nutella.
But it's Nutella for your body.
Oh.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
You put it on?
Every day.
Every day in my body.
Oh my God.
Smell that.
Coffee beans.
Do they grow here?
Coffee beans?
Yeah, in this area.
Okay.
Limestone.
That's hard to believe.
If you like the art, the limestone.
I can engrave your special day, your name too.
The most important in the Mama Juana is the wood inside.
You see the wood?
It's marabelli, cannellini, and bococaro.
You know chinchin?
A little bit.
Are you ready to dance?
Arriba!
Abajo!
Al centro!
Jackie!
Come on!
Yeah!
Salud!
Cha-cha!
Oh, it's so good.
It is good, isn't it?
Yeah.
This is my friend Charlie.
My friend Charlie's drinking drinking Mama Juana all day.
Boom!
Yeah!
And they got a souvenir stores, all kinds of souvenir stores.
My wife's in there spending money.
But do you see how beautiful this place is?
It's well worth the stop.
They will offer to sell you a bunch of different things.
Support the locals here.
And they got some food and drinks here as well.
Make sure you're exploring this.
Even if you're just staying here on the island, come back here and watch them roll cigars.
This is the Dominican Republic.
Great stop.
That's our ATV now.
It's all dirty.
Don't let it fool you.
You do get dirty.
I'm pissed.
I didn't know you were going to get this dirty.
Look at me.
Oh my God.
But it was so much fun.
You got to do this tour.
It's on my buy a tour cards.
Don't miss it.
It's a blast.
You will love every single minute of this tour.
Link below in the description.
Oh, it's such a little car.
Oh, it's such a little darling.
Now here's another thing.
Transportation is included on this tour to where you actually pick up your dune buggy.
Once you get out of the cruise port, you find the bus or the Jitney or whatever they're
picking you up in, and they take you to the starting point.
And another thing I always heard in some of the reviews is the tourist, the stops that
you stop, push and push for you to buy stuff.
And that is sometimes the case.
But remember, this is their livelihood.
They depend on tourists.
Buy something from the locals, even if it's just a little trinket, support the locals.
This is how they make a living.
And don't worry with all this mud.
When you get back to the starting point, they got food, restaurants, snacks, but they got
outdoor showers that you can get some of this gunk that you missed by swimming in the ocean.
Oh my God.
This is just over the top.
But one thing I noticed is the early you get there, the less crowded it will be.
So we literally had four people in our group and we had a private tour with just the four
of us.
All right.
This comes with a beach stop.
You can see it's a beautiful beach here.
This is where we get to rinse up.
Look at that man up there.
He's covered in mud.
Oh, that is warm.
This is how you get cleaned off in this warm water.
And where are we at?
Oh Lord.
My shoes are not pink anymore.
They're like an ugly color.
You just got to wipe it a little bit and you're good.
That looks like brand new.
Don't miss Amber Cove.
If you like swimming, get in the pool.
One of the highlights after your tour here, the Amber Cove sign.
Make sure you're coming through the gardens and see all the koi fish here in Amber Cove.
You've got to take this path here.
It goes up to the sky bar.
It's got the best overlooks on this entire island.
This is the sky bar.
You've got to come here because if you want pictures, there's no better place.
A lot of people don't even know this is here.
Watch all our Amber Cove videos.
You'll get these tips and tricks.
Oh, and did I mention they got zip lining?
There they go.
You pay, I think it's six bucks for all day.
It's a deal.
Splashdown.
Oh, they got a swim up bar.
In case you're interested.
My wife over here.
Yes, you can come over here and rent some cabanas on this side.
They cost extra for these things in the water.
It goes the whole way around, almost like a lazy river.
This is kind of the kids end.
You can see it's a gradual entrance.
We continue on here.
She's going to take us to the bar area.
I figure you always do this to me, so I'm going to do it to you.
There's Laura down there with our perfect spot.
Coming right at you.
And that's a wrap.
It's time to get back to the cruise ship.
I hope you enjoyed our day.
I hope you get here soon.
Amber Cove, there's many things to do.
Make sure you're checking out all our videos in Amber Cove.
We've got tours from ATVs, super buggies, to a port tour.
Until next time, have a fantastic day.
