Can you jump up here? Yeah! Good job, Millie!
Okay, sit with mom. Oh, don't lick that, okay? Thank you.
You're very sweet. Yes, you can't have that. Okay. Hey, Millie, did you know
last time I made a video and you weren't in my video
and somebody in the comments said, where's the little black dog?
They wanted to see you, buddy. Yeah.
They wanted to see Millie. And they wanted to see Bean.
Yeah. Bean's down here. You can't really see him. He's right
right outside of the camera frame, but he's right here by mom.
Oh, look, here he comes.
Theo Hopper. There he is.
I love you. Oh, thank you for your kisses, buddy.
Oh, my goodness. I got a big kiss.
Hey there. Welcome to my channel and to my home for another decorating video.
We are going to continue to decorate for the 4th of July today
for the 250th birthday of America, which is really exciting.
It's such a special year to decorate for the 4th.
If you missed my last video, we decorated the living room.
I will be sure to have that linked in the description box.
And I've already decorated the exterior of my home.
So those videos will be down there for you if you miss them.
But today we are going to be in my breakfast room and in my kitchen.
I've got a couple of table scapes to share with you.
I'm going to be doing one here on my breakfast table
and one in the dining room on the dining table.
Lots of 4th of July festive inspiration, hopefully for you in this video.
And I'm really looking forward to getting started.
So just want to say a quick thank you for being here today.
I hope that you enjoy it.
Let's get to decorating.
Anytime I decorate my breakfast room for a different holiday or season,
I always start with my wall art prints that you've probably seen
in every single breakfast decorating video because I keep gold frames
with matting around this window and I switch out the prints
with the different seasons or holidays.
And I did make myself some new wall art prints to go in here this year.
I'm really excited about these.
They are some watercolor flags that I made myself.
Very excited. I made them on Canva.
I will have these in my stand store also.
They are scaled to fit an eight and a half by eleven page,
but you can really print them in any size.
You could always take it over to a CVS or a Walgreens and they can help you out.
They'll do it for you.
And I know that several of you actually downloaded the blue
and white gingham floral that I have available for summer,
in which I'm so excited about.
I'm so excited that you are using these and loving these in your own home.
So I wanted to make sure I shared the type of paper that I use
so that you could get the identical print in your home
if you'd like that I have in mine.
I usually buy this in store at Walmart.
I go into my local Walmart and buy this.
It's in the craft section.
It is a watercolor paper.
The reason I like to use this is because I really like,
I don't know if you can see,
sorry, the sun's coming in the window right there,
but it's a textured paper and it's off white.
I just think it makes the prints look really nice and a little more high end.
I do want to note that these are nine by twelve sheets of paper,
so it's not an eight and a half by eleven.
These are scaled to fit eight and a half by eleven.
If you just have a regular printer and you go to a craft store
and you buy some cardstock, watercolor cardstock,
eight and a half by eleven and you print,
you will get a beautiful, beautiful print just like this one.
The flags will be in my shop,
but I also have a couple of other styles that are just Americana,
red, white and blue that I had made and I made them for myself.
But I also decided to make them available in the shop
just in case you wanted these as well.
I did these red, white and blue poppies.
I think these would be so beautiful for Memorial Day.
This is what I'll be using next year for Memorial Day.
And then I also did some scenes,
some just Americana iconic scenes.
There are, I believe, eight of these,
nine of these that you would get in the bundle.
And they're all a little bit different, right?
They're all meant to be used together.
So they complement one another,
but they're all a little bit different in design style.
They'll all be linked in the description box below
if you want to grab those.
One thing that I get asked very often here on my channel
is how I decide what a space is going to look like each season.
And when I sit down to decorate a room for a new season or holiday,
I'm actually not thinking about those seasonal pieces.
I'm not thinking about the ribbon or the flags.
I'm thinking about how I want that space to feel during that season.
What do I want to experience in that room?
How do I already live in that space and move through that space?
And what do I want to enjoy?
Because that's what seasonal decorating is all about.
It's about evoking a feeling and experiencing the season in your home
in a way that's meaningful and creates memories for you
and that you truly enjoy.
I was actually just thinking about this the other day
because I was watching Shea McGee's class on Masterclass.
And one thing that really stood out to me that she talks about
and that she teaches is her design process.
And a big part of that design process is about the feeling of a space.
It's not so much about the layout and the pieces.
Those are important parts.
Those are elements.
But she also starts with that feeling and with that story.
And what she wants the room to accomplish in a more meaningful way
and not just in a decorative way.
At the end of the day, these are the spaces that we live in,
the spaces we create in our home.
I thought that was really cool and really special.
And it was neat to hear someone that I look up to in the design industry
say something like that and share that as a part of her process.
That is very similar to how I approach my seasonal decor,
not just my home decor.
I think about how I want the space to feel.
So, for example, for this breakfast room today,
I really just want this space to feel like classic Americana, timeless.
And remind me of the spaces that my mother used to create in our home
growing up.
The Fourth of July holds such fond memories for me
over the years of just family gatherings and fun.
It was a time of year that we all just slowed down a bit
and enjoyed the moment.
I just remember some of the things that my mom used to put out
that felt so special.
And they feel even more special now that I've gotten older.
And so in this space today, I really wanted, especially my tablescape,
to feel like my mom could have done it in the 90s.
I think that's what I was really going for in this space.
Speaking of Masterclass, I want to say a quick thank you to them
for sponsoring today's video.
This is honestly a very special and exciting sponsor for me
because I have been a member of Masterclass since 2018,
which is two years before I even got onto YouTube.
It is such an incredible learning resource
that I genuinely enjoy so very much.
I've been so inspired by what I've seen over on Masterclass,
the people that I've learned from.
And I'm not just talking about learning from interior designers,
even though you know that is a huge passion of mine.
And I absolutely love all of the classes that they offer
from interior designers on Masterclass.
Shade McGee is obviously a favorite.
Kelly Wurstler is one of my just interior design icons.
She has a class on Masterclass, and it is fantastic.
But they have over 200 classes and thousands of lessons
in topics like business, design, writing, cooking, entertainment.
I mean, you name it, it is there.
I think, though, what I love most about these classes
and learning from experts in their fields,
people that truly have devoted their time and their efforts
to doing what they do and doing what they love,
I always either walk away with a new perspective
on something that I really appreciate
or a practical idea that I can apply in my everyday life.
Or I genuinely learn something that I did not know how to do
before watching these classes.
So it's just such an enriching, amazing platform, in my opinion.
So I will leave a link in the description box below.
I'll put a QR code right here on the screen.
You can check out their site.
Their plans start at ten dollars a month and they're billed annually.
But right now they are offering 50 percent off.
So right now is a great time to sign up for master class
and start enjoying all of the resources that they have there.
I'm telling you, I love it.
I, again, think my membership is a testament to how much I love it.
Anyway, thank you for letting me share that here quickly with you today.
But as you know, I have a lot more decorating to do.
So let's get back to it.
So I have this picture that usually sits on the kitchen shelf,
and I really like the frame.
I really love this piece of art.
However, I want to make it a little more festive for the fourth of July.
So I just printed out this flag, found this graphic on Canva,
blew it up, printed it out and cut it to size.
I measured the interior of this and I didn't cut it exact, but that's OK.
I am just going to pop this in, though.
And now I have repurposed this piece of art.
I can pull it right back out when I am done using it for the season.
And just in case you're curious,
I know I might have a few people ask if this printable will be available to download.
I'm going to go ahead and update my blog post with the free printables
that I have from the last video.
There's a few free patriotic printables there for you.
I'm going to update that post and include this one as well.
So if you want to use this flag in your home, it'll be free for you on my blog
and linked in the description below.
All right.
So that is all I have for you today.
I just want to say a quick thank you for taking a little bit of time
out of your day to hang out with me here on YouTube.
I hope that you enjoyed decorating with me.
I sure enjoyed sharing it here with you.
And I will be back very soon in the next video.
So I will see you then.
But until I do, take care and happy decorating.
