AI GeneratedThe hosts discuss the current crisis at airports caused by TSA funding failures, leading to extreme wait times and staffing shortages. They argue that the TSA is an inefficient, undignified, and unnecessary government agency, citing personal experiences with invasive screenings and illogical rules, and support Governor Ron DeSantis's suggestion to let airlines and airports handle security.
Welcome to Free Media, I'm Robbie Suave.
And I'm Amber Duke.
Abolish the TSA, seriously.
Due to Congress's failure to provide funding for the agency, which is under DHS, travelers
are dealing with absurdly long lines at airports, sometimes waiting four or five hours just
to end up missing their flights.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is asking the right questions.
In a post on X, he writes, is there evidence that creating TSA has made air travel safer
over the past 25 years?
If not, then why not let the airlines and airports handle it?
Why give politicians the power to play games with the travel of our people?
Yes, indeed.
So true.
Ron DeSantis, 2028.
I would actually like to see him back in the mix based on a couple other things.
But, yes, what's going on at airports right now is insane.
You've been through, I'm going, I'm traveling this weekend, I'm dreading it, and next weekend.
How's it been?
Well, I flew last weekend and it wasn't the lines that was the problem, but I don't know
if there was some memo that went out that they need to be flagging more things in the
metal detector because of the lack of staffing.
Oh, my gosh.
So I was flying back from Florida and I wear basically the same outfit every time I fly.
You have a travel outfit.
Yeah.
Jeans and a quarter zip.
Very normal.
Yes.
And this quarter zip I have worn on I don't know how many flights in the past year.
And it has a zipper as a quarter zip does.
Yes.
Apparently, this zipper was not allowed to go through the clear line metal detector.
Oh, my God.
They made me take off all my jewelry.
Oh, my God.
I then have to go through the body scanner anyway.
Yeah, I know.
The guy had, I was like, I really don't want to put my engagement ring in your hand.
Yes.
So then I go through the body scanner and I see this like big red block come up on top
of my zipper.
And of course, I had to get the, they call it a pat down, but it's actually rape.
And so I, you know, I got sexually assaulted by the TSA woman because I wore a quarter
zip.
They do that to me all the time.
And they're like, and then they're giving you a little speech.
I'm like, don't, I don't want to hear the speech again.
Just get it over with.
But also, I hate you.
And this is undignified and totally and completely unnecessary.
Obviously, I hope TSA, like in the immediate right now, gets the funding so that this ends.
This is torture for people at airports.
People are waiting like four hours in Houston.
It is crazy.
I mean, the fault of both parties, whatever.
They should pass this separately.
They should pass it as part of the overall bill.
They should pass it attached to the state.
They should do it in any which way, whatever.
It's just, this can't go on.
Also, ICE is funded through the Big Beautiful Bill.
And so Democrats are trying to use this as leverage because Republicans want ICE funded.
But ICE is already funded, so they're just punishing these poor TSA agents, some of whom
have apparently had to sell their cars to pay their mortgage.
Well, yeah, they're not going to have, right.
They shouldn't have to work for free.
Nobody has to work for free.
I understand them not showing up.
We need to, so I am obviously for getting rid of exactly what DeSantis expressed.
The TSA does, this is not to say there should be no security at airports, obviously.
There's security at concert venues.
There's security at courthouses of a, you know, a regular, you know, you go through
an x-ray machine, little bit of wanding, little bit of looking at your stuff, fine.
We don't, but what TSA does is this total, you know, looking, opening your bags, looking
through everything, porno scanning, and on and on and on.
And that does not contribute to safety or make airports or, like, prevent plane hijackings.
No one is going to hijack a plane anymore.
The cockpit doors are locked.
They can't get access to the pilots.
I just, I don't understand the things that they flag.
Right.
Like, I just, sometimes I wonder if, I'm sure that, there are many fine people, I'm sure,
that work for the TSA.
Sure.
But a lot of them seem borderline retarded.
Oh my God, Amber.
I'm sorry, but if I'm going through security at LaGuardia and they have to feel up my toothpaste
tube to make sure it's not over the liquid limit, like, that's not serious.
The liquid limit is, and I don't blame them for whatever, they're not making the rules,
but the liquid limit is the stupidest rule of all time.
What, it's because this much liquid you can't make an explosive device, this much liquid
you can.
And is peanut butter a liquid or a solid?
It just.
Well, they don't know.
I don't like, the thing that annoys me the most is when they act like you're a moron
for not knowing if you're in the line where you have to take the computer out of the bag.
Yes.
Or the line where you leave everything in and they act like, no, no, no, leave it in,
why are you taking out?
But you, how am I supposed to know?
It's different every ******* time.
It's different, it's different every time.
And then it's like, okay, do I have to put my, my, my roller bag in a box or just the
loose garments?
Right.
That's never clear.
Right.
I, I hate that.
The shoe thing, which is done, I guess.
Yeah.
Thank you, Christine Elm.
That's like the one good thing you did.
I know, right?
I'm grateful for that.
But that was.
Thank you for your service.
Because of the guy who had a bomb in his shoe that never would have successfully damaged
the plane even and is just, we're like, this is, this is nuts.
This is genuinely nuts.
That's the other thing, if I wear like a boot that has a zipper on it, I have to take my
boots off.
You know, I hate watching them drag like old people out of their wheelchairs, feel them
up.
It's, and it's not just the inconvenience.
This makes everything better.
