How many times has God warned biblical characters, but they carried on as though they didn't hear
him? And in our own lives, how many times has the Holy Spirit convicted our hearts,
but we ignored that quiet voice? How many times has the Word of God shown us the right path,
but we still choose to walk in our own way? We are given so many warnings in the Bible,
but have you ever really wondered why? Dear friends, I want you to understand that
when God warns us, He knows where sin leads. He knows where compromise leads.
He knows where rebellion leads. And He knows where spiritual carelessness leads.
And because He's loving, because He's merciful, and because He's patient,
He sends warnings before judgment. Now, throughout Scripture, we see this again and again.
God warned Noah. In Genesis chapter 6, the wickedness of man had become great upon the
earth. The hearts of people were continually evil. Violence had filled the land. Sin was
no longer something hidden. It had become the culture of the day. But in the middle of that
wicked generation, there was a man named Noah. And the Bible says Noah found grace in the eyes
of the Lord. God warned Noah that a flood was coming. And God told him to build an ark.
And God gave him instructions. God gave him the measurements. And God gave him the plan.
God told him what was about to happen. And Noah listened. Now, imagine if Noah responded,
Lord, I've never seen rain like this before. Lord, people will laugh at me. Noah simply obeyed.
And because Noah obeyed the warning of God, he and his family were safe. But think about those who
ignored the warning. They carried on eating and drinking. They carried on living as if nothing
would happen. They carried on with business as usual. They saw the ark being built, but they
didn't take the warning very seriously. And by the time the rain began to fall, it was too late.
Dear friends, this is why we must listen when God speaks. Because there are doors that remain
open for a season, but they will not remain open forever. There are opportunities to repent
that are available today, but tomorrow is not promised. There are warnings that come from God's
mercy, but if ignored for too long, judgment will follow. And then we see another warning in the
story of Jonah. God sent Jonah to Nineveh, a city full of wickedness. The people of Nineveh were
living in sin. Their actions had come up before God and judgment was coming. But before God judged
Nineveh, he sent a warning and he told Jonah to go and preach to that city. Now Jonah resisted at
first. Jonah ran in the opposite direction and Jonah did not want to go. But eventually after
God dealt with him, Jonah obeyed and delivered the message. And what happened? The people of Nineveh
believed the warning. They humbled themselves. They repented. From the greatest to the least,
they turned from their wicked ways. And because they listened to the warning, God had mercy on
them. Now I want you to see something powerful here. Noah listened to God's warning and was saved
from destruction. Nineveh listened to God's warning and was spared from judgment. So the warning of God
is not something to reject. The warning of God is something to receive. And this same pattern
continues throughout scripture. In the book of Revelation, Jesus warned the churches. He warned
them about losing their first love. He warned them about compromise. He warned them about tolerating
sin. He warned them about being spiritually dead while still having a reputation of being alive.
He warned them about being lukewarm. And to the lukewarm church, Jesus gave one of the strongest
warnings in scripture. He said in Revelation 3 verse 15 to 16, I know your works, that you are
neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm and
neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of my mouth. Now that is a serious warning.
Jesus is not impressed by religious appearance without true devotion. Jesus is not impressed
by people who claim his name but have no fire for him. Jesus is not impressed by people who
go through the motions but whose hearts are far away from him. He warns the church because he
loves the church. He corrects those he loves. He rebukes those he loves. He calls his people back
before they drift too far. And then Jesus gives us the parable of the ten virgins in Matthew chapter
25. Five were wise. Five were foolish. All ten had lamps. All ten were waiting for the bridegroom.
All ten appeared to be part of the same group but there was a difference. The wise virgins
were prepared. The foolish virgins were not. The wise had oil. The foolish had lamps but no
lasting supply. And when the bridegroom came, those who were ready went in with him to the wedding
and the door was shut. The door was shut. Those are sobering words. Because once the door was
shut, the foolish virgins could not enter. They cried out but it was too late. They wanted access
but they were not prepared. They wanted the blessing but they had ignored the need for
readiness. Dear friends, this is a warning for us today. Do not be careless with your soul.
Don't be casual with your walk with God. And here are a few warnings from the Bible.
Proverbs 11 verse 19 to 21. As righteousness leads to life, so he who pursues evil pursues it to his
own death. Those who are of a perverse heart are an abomination to the Lord. But the blameless
in their ways are his delight. Though they join forces, the wicked will not go unpunished.
But the posterity of the righteous will be delivered. Romans 6 23. For the wages of sin
is death. But the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Second Corinthians 5 verse 10. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ,
that each one may receive the things done in the body according to what he has done,
whether good or bad. Those are just three warnings about living right, sin, and judgment.
The question is, are you living ready? Are you watching? Are you praying? Are you walking in
obedience? Are you keeping your heart burning for Jesus Christ? Because the warnings of God
are not given to entertain us. They're given to awaken us. They're given to prepare us. They are
given to bring us back to the narrow road. I would further like to give you more warnings
that we should meditate in our hearts and minds. First John 2 verse 18 says,
children, it is the last hour. And as you have heard that antichrist is coming,
so now many antichrists have come. Therefore, we know that it is the last hour.
Now take two things from this verse. The antichrist is coming and many antichrists
have already come. That means scripture warns us of a final great opposer of Christ.
But it also warns us that the spirit of antichrist is already active in the world.
And what is the spirit of antichrist? First John 4 verse 3 says, and every spirit that
does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist,
which you heard was coming and now is in the world already. So the Bible makes it clear.
Every spirit that refuses to confess Jesus Christ is not from God. Every spirit that
rejects Jesus Christ as Lord is not from God. Every spirit that denies the son of God is not
from God. Every spirit that tries to remove Christ, silence Christ, mock Christ or replace Christ
is operating in the spirit of antichrist. Now take a moment and think, can you not
see this spirit at work today? Can you not see how the name of Jesus is rejected?
Can you not see how people are comfortable talking about spirituality, but they become
offended when you mention Jesus Christ? They may accept religion. They may accept morality,
meditation and self-improvement. But when you say that Jesus Christ is the way,
the truth and the life, something rises up in opposition.
That is not just human disagreement. That is spiritual opposition. That is the spirit of
antichrist in operation. The world does not mind a powerless version of Christianity,
but the world hates the Jesus of the Bible who is the Lord of lords and king of kings.
The world hates the Jesus who demands repentance. The world hates the Jesus who says,
no one comes to the father except through me. Another warning is found in Revelation 12 verse
which says, woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea, for the devil has come down to you
having great wrath because he knows that he has a short time. I want you to notice that
final part of the verse. The devil has great wrath because he knows that he has a short time.
This is something we need to take seriously. The enemy we face as children of God is not
playing games. The enemy is not resting, nor is he neutral. The Bible says he has great wrath.
Why? Because he knows his time is short. And because his time is short, he's working
aggressively to deceive, distract, tempt, corrupt, and destroy. This is why we cannot afford to be
spiritually asleep. This is why we cannot afford to live outside of God's presence.
And this is why we cannot afford to be careless with sin. The devil is looking for opportunities,
for open doors, for weak places, so that he can gain a foothold in people's lives.
In fact, I would even say he's looking for people who are tired, isolated, bitter, distracted,
and prayerless. He wants to lead people away from God. And if we're not rooted in the Word of God,
we'll begin to call evil good and good evil. So let me tell you this, dear friends.
Do not ignore biblical warnings. When the Word of God warns you, don't harden your heart.
When the Holy Spirit convicts you, do not silence him. When God exposes something in your life,
do not hide it. The safest place you can be is in obedience to God and his Word. Let us pray.
Lord Jesus, I thank you for your mercy. I thank you for your patience. And I thank you because
you did not leave us without a warning. You didn't leave us in darkness or to walk blindly
into destruction. You speak through your Word. And we pray that through your Word, the Holy
Spirit would correct us, convict us, and guide us. You call me back when I begin to drift.
And for that, Lord, I say thank you. Father, forgive me for every time I ignored your warnings.
Forgive me for every time I've hardened my heart. Forgive me for every time I heard your Word,
but I failed to obey it. And Lord Jesus, I ask you to cleanse me. Wash me by your precious blood.
Remove anything in me that resists your voice. Remove every stubborn place in my heart.
Remove every spirit of rebellion. Remove every desire that pulls me away from you.
Father, give me a heart that listens. Give me a heart that obeys. Give me a heart that does not
take your mercy for granted. Lord, help me to obey your instructions, even when the world or
those around me do not understand. Lord Jesus, protect us from the spirit of Antichrist.
Protect us from every voice that denies you. Protect us from deception. Protect us from
compromise. Open our eyes to see truth. Open our ears to hear your voice. Open our hearts
to receive correction. Father, I know the enemy has great wrath because his time is short.
But I also know that greater is he who is in me than he who is in the world. So I will not live
in fear. I will live in faith. I will abide in you. I will remain under your covering.
I will stand on your Word. I pray for the grace to walk in obedience to God's Word.
Lord, don't allow my love to grow cold. Keep my heart burning for you. In a world full of
wickedness, help us to walk in holiness, Lord. Father, teach us to be careful how we live.
Help us to make time for prayer and for your Word. Let nothing become more important to me than you.
Jesus, you are our Lord. You are our Savior and soon coming King. And we choose today to
listen to your warnings. Thank you for loving us enough to give us warnings. In your presence, Lord
Jesus, every curse is broken. In your presence, every evil word spoken against us becomes useless.
In your presence, every trap set before us by the enemy is exposed. In your presence,
every threat and attack from the kingdom of darkness is nullified and destroyed. So we invite
you into our lives, King Jesus. Dwell in our hearts, Lord. Dwell in our homes. Chase away every
unclean spirit. Chase away every contentious spirit. Lord, we ask you that you chase away
everything that's not of you. We declare that if it's not from God, we don't want it. We declare
your Word in Psalm 31 verse 19 to 20. Oh, how abundant is your goodness, which you have stored
up for those who fear you and worked for those who take refuge in you, in the sight of the children
of mankind. In the cover of your presence, you hide them from the plots of men. You store them in
your shelter from the strife of tongues. Lord, you have stored up blessings for those who reverently
fear you. May we be counted among those that fear you. Hide us in the secret place of your presence
so that no evil thing will be able to find us or lay siege to our lives. Lord Jesus, we pray for
grace and mercy. Let us become believers who are in awe of you always. Believers who never waver
nor turn their heads at the sight of the pleasures of this world.
Father, in this world, we are in the midst of evil. We're surrounded by deception and all kinds
of false teaching. However, we look to you, King Jesus, and to your Word as our light.
Light up our lives. Light up our eyes so that we can see truth from lies and truth from deception.
May your holy light shine and expose that which is in darkness. Let us be so full of your light,
so full of your presence, that there's no room for any evil thing or stronghold to take hold of us.
Purge our hearts, King Jesus, of all sin that may leave the door open to the enemy.
If it's unforgiveness, give us the grace to let go and forgive whatever or whomever has hurt us.
If it's hidden sin, convict our hearts to repent and let that sin go in the name of Jesus.
Father, give us hearts that are obedient to you, because in Deuteronomy 28 verse 1 to 2,
your Word says, And if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God,
being careful to do all His commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you
high above all the nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake
if you obey the voice of the Lord your God. May your blessings come upon us and overtake us.
We praise you, King Jesus, because you are the God who transforms.
There is no life you cannot redeem. There is no heart you cannot change.
There is no situation you cannot turn around. We praise you because your love is relentless.
It doesn't give up on us. It pursues us even when we push away. It reaches for us
even when we run from it. We praise you because you're faithful to forgive.
You are faithful to heal. You're faithful to restore. Be glorified, King Jesus.
May you receive all praise and honor. We thank you for hearing this prayer.
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.
Now, I'd like to encourage you to meditate on the following verses. Isaiah 5 verse 20 to 21.
Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes
and prudent in their own sight. Matthew 16 verse 26 to 27.
For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?
Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of Man will come in the glory of his
Father with his angels, and then he will reward each according to his works. Hebrews 2 verse 1
to 4. Therefore, we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift
away. For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience
received a just reward, how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation which at first
became to be spoken by the Lord and was confirmed to us by those who heard him? God also bearing
witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit according to
Proverbs 11 verse 19 to 21. As righteousness leads to life, so he who pursues evil pursues it to his
own death. Those who are of a perverse heart are an abomination to the Lord, but the blameless
in their ways are his delight. Though they join forces, the wicked will not go unpunished,
but the posterity of the righteous will be delivered. Romans 6 verse 23. For the wages
of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Second Corinthians
5 verse 10. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive
the things done in the body according to what he has done, whether good or bad.
