Hello and welcome to Val di Fassa Trentino for round three of the UCI Enduro World Cup.
We're here in this stunning landscape and we have seven stages for the riders this weekend
across two days of racing and here we are with absolute legend of enduro Jack Moyer, a 2021
overall winner and he's going to join us for course preview today. It's going to be absolutely
hectic, let's get into it. Jack is back ladies and gentlemen. Nothing like some extremely steep
tech. Oh he is, oh my god. Right so stage one Tutti Frutti, a classic for Val di Fassa Trentino.
It's a little bit shorter this year, the ridge is absolutely wrote off from the weather over
the winter but we are still starting quite high up and I think it's going to be a monster Jack.
Yeah it's always one of the most iconic Kennesee stages. Used to froth it, it's got good length,
I think it's still going to be pretty long even without the ridge. My hands are sore just from
getting here. I think we're going to have to stop a couple times right. Lead it away, stage one
with Jacky Moyer. All right come on. We've got to climb straight up I think so thank the lord
for E-Rix. Put it in turbo. Put her in turbo baby. Oh I've just been slapped in the face by a bus.
Just swallowed a fly, that wasn't very pleasant. Oh my god, it's chunky. I think I'm going to need
a new separator pad after this one. Oh big inside, I like that. See it's not too much difference.
Obviously Jack's just cruising. Yeah boy, the gods have listened to you. Oh it's beautiful.
How good's that? So good. Just something to get the tyres into.
Oh yeah this is going to be so refreshing. Oh yes, three round Jacky bye-bye. The Michelin section,
here we go. These Michelin tyres will be hooking up through the Michelin section.
I am having a good time. Oh it is the finish. Oh it is dude. Nice. Okay so it's a bit shorter
this year, that might be an all-out sprint. That's always been a big pace yourself stage.
Don't get ahead of yourself up top because you'll get rinsed by the bottom, but
yeah now it's probably half if that. Yeah. So you'll be able to sprint the whole thing.
I just get stuck in. That's going to make it. Oh out the gate, that top section is going to be,
well I thought it'd be like flowy, like picking through, but now it's shorter,
it's just going to be balls to the wall. You're going to have no room to rest, you're just going
to have to sprint everything. Well that was stage one, tooty fruity. A lot tootier and fruitier than
I remember. So stage two of the first race day electric line Jack, tell me about this stage from
previous years, what do you think of it? Pretty chunky, lots of rocks, a bit fast up top and then
it gets real technical down bottom, so that's quite a good mix. We'll see how we get on. Super
skatey ground too, so riders beware. Lots of roots and rocks. Yeah lots of roots and rocks,
but then in between all the roots and rocks you got this pebbly stuff which there's not much
traction on, so you got to proceed with caution. Well let's proceed with lots of caution
and we'll get stuck into it. Stage two electric line, here we go.
Oh I remember this being really chunky. Oh okay this is different. We're getting straight into
the tech this year. Yeah. No fast section to open it up. Straight into the steep tech, I'll go low.
Oh no that was not a good line by me.
This is straight brain rattle dude. Oh my god.
Slower up Gary.
She's loose. Oh this is unreal.
Nothing like some extremely steep tech here after emptying yourself on a climb.
The dirt's greasy as well. Oh he's going mega inside.
Big stoppies. Oh we're picking up some speed now.
Oh we are carrying speed, we're pumping, we're jumping.
So many different variations into one. That could be a new Ken Ozai favourite stage. That's my
favourite so far. Just give you a bit of difference from the previous years. Exactly,
on to stage three. Right so we're just here at the top of stage three which is the final stage
for day one of racing. Right we'll get stuck in Jack and then we've got day two of course preview.
Okay and we're into stage three, the final stage of day one.
Okay so this is actually the same top section as stage seven so don't get confused.
Okay we're gonna go right for stage three.
Oh we're into the love. Oh he's drifting around everywhere. It's so good to watch.
Oh he's going for the inside. Oh he's done it really nicely.
Oh I'm nearly at the finish. I can smell it. Oh on the uphill, hot on the e-bike Jack.
Oh that's the finish. That's it mate. Oh god that's so physical. Even on the eaves.
Physical on the aerate. Oh that is stage three done so that is the end of the first day of racing.
So they've got three stages on Saturday, four big stages on Sunday. I still feel pretty fresh
dude. I know well it's all right. Easy work. Easy on the eaves. So we're just here at the top of
stage three titans which is a classic for Val di Fassa. Jack is there any particular things you
can remember from this trail racing in previous years? Yeah super steep, super technical, it's
rough, it's some of those other trails cool your legs, this one smokes your arm. Right we'll get
stuck in and we'll see you at the bottom. And we're in straight into some north shore.
Oh it's so loose. So we're here at already at quite a key section to the track. So for the
racers coming off this boardwalk it's covered in chicken wire which gives the tyres so much grip
especially when it's dry like it is now. So the racers are going to have lots of grip with the
tyres they can brake really hard and then they're going to drop in onto this loose rocky muddy
section and it's quite loose now so you can imagine after a few hundred riders it's going to
get even more cut up. And then if you look behind you you've just got to grab that little tiny catch
with the back wheel to stop you going over the tube. It's absolutely crazy Jack what do you think?
I think the main thing for here is not coming in too fast because as soon as like you said as soon
as you get off the bridge here it's just like a slimy rock so it's easy to lock up you want to try
stop the wheels from locking up and skidding otherwise you're probably going to pick up speed.
Yeah so just to explain like when you're on a trail that's really slippy and really steep when
you pull your back brake it has no grip at all and unlike cars and stuff like that where they
have abs which is anti-lock braking we don't have that on our mountain bikes so we've got to adjust
and modulate our braking with just our fingers to try and keep grip throughout this super loose
technical section so we'll see how we get on with our built-in abs shall we Jack?
Oh this is sick! Real sick! Oh yeah look at that!
Oh yeah this is more like it Jacky boy!
Bikes are dancing around everywhere!
Oh no he's down! He's down! Oh my god! Oh dude you all good? Slick out there people!
Yeah all good. Are you doing that again? Yeah we should probably do that again. Okay we'll do that
again because you know which clip we'll actually use and it isn't this one that we're about to do
Okay we're switching it up!
How did we make that work? So we're just here at the monster rock garden at the bottom of Titan
stage four and me and Jack are just looking at a few lines and obviously we've both raced in the
past so it's nice to share ideas and you know compare lines on which way we'd go so we're just
going to have a look down the track and just try and work out a different way. So you can come in
up over the edge of the roots here and then bomb the main line? Yep. Or like you were saying
there's that high line. I don't know where you're going to go through the rocks though.
Yeah so I was thinking about maybe coming low through and then through here I think if I can
push in either push into that little rock into that down face and then pop off that rock over
the next one. So you're thinking of going wide around the rock and down? Yeah that's me brother
main with confidence. Well we kind of cross over don't we? Yeah don't hit me. Oh I wouldn't worry
about that I'll be about five seconds behind you mate. Oh my god so I've just realized that the
racers are going to be getting up Sunday morning they're going to be coming up here with the
morning dew on the track and it is going to be loose straight out of bed into that brekky and
straight into titans right tell you what Jack let's grab the bikes and we'll have a dabble
yeah boy hopefully I don't end up in that shed oh oh I've got lost
he's got my line at the bottom the cheeky dog oh dude I'm already spinning out on route
this guy's an e-bike veteran bro
oh my god that is so techy uh so yeah that's stage four titans and then they're going to go
straight up now into that brand new stage which looks mega let's jump into it so you join us at
the brand new trail lazua which is stage five for the racers this year it's got 528 meters of
descending across the length of just shy of four kilometers jack let's get stuck in you can rip in
okay here we go enthusiastic start I like it yeah wait
oh she's a bit loaf on the inside dude
it's really hard to try and predict what your tires are going to do and how much grip you've
got and then you've got these marbly stones on the way out as well bit of boardwalk
oh into some whoop turns nice
he's drifting everywhere okay little jumpy section
case for the rice might back it off a little back it off a little patient there we go jack
moyer wise words as always it's got such a hard base but it's like a clayey dirt I imagine it's
going to change quite a lot with if it rains and it's really hard to commit to the turns how would
you approach this trail if you were racing like tactics up top super hard pack pretty good support
in the corners and there's no loose on top so I'd give it a bit of a crack up there into the middle
where you get that gravelly top stuff I'd be really starting to try be a bit more patient
and take my time a bit because it's just so easy to wash and then down here we're getting into a
like softer stuff you can I think the knobs are starting to eat and you can rip it insides and
you can push it a lot harder so nice and nice and aggressive out the gate and then back it off a
little bit in the middle quite efficient you can really rip in down here especially once you're
warmed into your run a bit tell you what but don't tell anyone that let's let's watch you get
in 2026 and we're still getting new trails though
yeah there is a drop though any advice for anyone
oh my god Jack Moyer stage five taught me through it you took the win on that stage how does it feel
oh mate I was swinging off the back the whole way yeah love it dude the air is thin retire and still
on fire that's what we love to see Jack yeah boy so we're here at the top of stage six for the
racers infinity this trail is quite notorious isn't it Jack what is it like from previous experiences
right I've got some bad bad memories from this stage I reckon it's the gnarliest climb in stage
in EDR since I've been doing it and you've actually got two climbs so
air is thin as well just prepare to die pretty much okay well let's hold on tight that's a very
positive intro and hopefully they've left the climb out this year Jack right Jack leaders out buddy
okay and we're straight into the rocks oh she is really rocky and really loose
otherwise they're going to be riding in a squat position for this whole trail which is
just not fun and it's no good to try and keep your legs fresh ready for the big pedaling section
and we are straight in here we go okay this is nice I can work with that yeah we can they can
sprint this out the saddle you think so they'll be giving it all the watts up here laying down
the power and you've got to remember like we are at altitude here it is really really high up
oh big turn need to carry some speed out of this one Jack here we go wow this is it
big enduro scrub from Jack Myler all right what do we got here oh this is tight
okay fix it up a bit oh that's different up and over these big chunky roots oh this will be hard
in the wet steep top section to this climb that will just finish finish the legs of the racers
this is crazy bro and i'm still out of breath okay easy gear i've got the bike in turbo
oh my god look at Jack he just floats around effortlessly
like it's nothing and it's like you're crossing over where you think you should be
i'm so glad you're in front of me and i can just follow your wheel
because i'd have no idea where to go on that oh my boy's got his feet up
oh nice nice oh we've got another climber surprise one at the end
okay rooty goodness and into the finish what did you think of that one buddy way better ending
dude yeah you used to have to go down and pedal again and it dragged it out that was way better
less physical ending big improvement to the classic stage infinity can't believe we did a
okay so we're at the top of stage seven and it's only 1.3 kilometers long it's a short one
short sprinty one really gasses you out let's finish the day strong jack on you go buddy let's
rip it gary woohoo go gary who's gary you know i don't know you know gary
okay we're straight into some two switchbacks oh you might recognize this from stage three as well
and then i believe we turn off in a direction oh big inside nice
oh we're going quite fast i had a big crash here once okay and we're going up the climb luckily
we've got e-bikes for this bit oh my god jackie jackie my my's off jesus i've got a pedal i'll
just try and keep up with him she gets deep yeah oh my god jack he's on one he is on one
lots of alternate lines there jack
oh big drop oh and that is the end of course preview here at val di fascia trentino
thank you for tuning in it's going to be a big two days of racing thank you jack the legend
thanks for having me right oh yeah more than welcome anytime jack it's been a pleasure
we'll see you on practice day
