Well, hello. We are back at it once again. Thanks for tuning in. We're at the Gibson Reservoir
on the edge of the Bob Marshall. Heading out with Dan from Shasta Bubba Adventures again
and Andrew and Lacey, Northwest Warner. Gonna be a hell of a trip. We're doing a point-to-point
starting here at Gibson Reservoir. Walking down to Benchmark in a couple days. Let's get going.
I've hiked with both of these YouTube channels before but we've never done a trip all together
as a group. We were all pretty excited to be finally doing it. We chose this route because
it looked to be snow-free and it seemed like we were going to get lucky and have a perfect
weather window for the next few days. It was a beautiful day and there were hardly any clouds
in the sky. The scenery along the reservoir kept me stopping and taking picture after picture.
Somehow we were still making good time. We had been exposed to the sun for the whole time and
after about four or five miles of hiking, I was starting to feel the effects of it.
Well, we're getting close to seven miles out to the end of the reservoir.
Baby's long. And right up here we will officially enter the Bob Marshall.
All right, we are officially in the Bob. A couple more miles to camp. Hope we get there soon. I'm
wearing them. We were on the home stretch but the hours exposed to the sun were wreaking
havoc on me and I was just trying to gut it out to camp. But there always seems to be one more
hill to climb before you get there. A stand of trees is our camp. Almost there. Oh, all right.
Well, in camp and set up. Oh, I am struggling. Nine and a half miles today. Not too much gain
but there was some. Oh, I wasn't ready for this today I guess. Starting to feel a little better
though. Probably not a lot of fanfare. Got to make sure to eat and I'll be hitting the sack soon.
Well, good morning. It is morning day two here on the South Fork of the Sun River.
Pulled in pretty hurt last night. Cold night last night. I haven't slept that cold in a while.
Maybe ever. I don't know. We made it though. So today we should have a shorter day. It's
going to be a great day. Another great day in the Bob. Still just a little bit of snow.
We only had a few miles to go to get to a campsite that Dan knew about.
So we lingered in camp that morning warming up by the fire before we pushed up the river.
That'll wake you up. Yeah. All right. Well, we've made it here to camp today. Short day,
just over four miles. We're camped in pretty prairie and this is a great campsite. Looking
forward to just kicking it here for the rest of the day. Big day tomorrow to get out but
that's tomorrow. Let's enjoy the day. And enjoy the day we did. We explored the prairie and checked
out the guard cabin that was nearby. Spent the afternoon and well into the evening sitting by
the fire swapping stories and discussing routes for future trips. Well, good morning. Morning day
going home day. Not as chilly last night but it's still cold. I think Dan said about 35 last night
was the low. But we've had our coffee. It's about time to get packed up. Eight or nine miles back
to the benchmark trailhead. I was determined not to have a repeat of what happened on day one.
I took my time as we started down the trail towards home and I found that it was pretty
easy to go slow because I kept stopping to film everything. The beauty of the bob was on
full display this morning and I was here for it. Well, we've hit the CDT. We're about down to the
bridge. Now I've done this part. We're back on familiar ground. I'm guessing about five more
miles out. It's been a great hike this morning and beautiful. It's all right. Well, here's some
legit snow. All right, leaving the bob. Got this one bridge and then we'll be at benchmark here
in a minute. Oh, there's beer in the truck. Let's go. This was an amazing trip that you'd never think
you could do in April. The low snowpack this year made this trip possible and it was great to get
out and stretch my legs a bit. Special thanks to Andrew, Lacey and Dan for putting this trip
together. What a great group to hike with. Life's never stopped on this trip. I have a feeling we'll
get together down the road to do it all again.
