Jelena Ostapenko vs. Zeynep Sonmez | 2026 Eastbourne Quarterfinals | WTA Match Highlights

What a moment this is for Zeynep Sonmez in the quarterfinals of Eastbourne. Giving a helping hand, having got a walkover in the previous round, but she has come through qualifying. But it's going to be tough for the Turkish player because she takes on someone who knows how to go all the way in Eastbourne. Former champion, Yelena Ostapenko. Racket, Nick, not yours? Racket, you receive? As we see, Issam Jalali, most known for coaching Once Djibout, but he's transitioned very well to Sonmez and has done a great job with her. Look at the ranking. Into the line. Wow. Dismissive, isn't it, that return? Add some aggression to her game. Yeah, delicately done. She's just found the line. Yeah, it's big ball striking. Three set points. Yelena Ostapenko so far is doing the business in Eastbourne once again. She wants a little more from this crowd. It seems like she deserves a little more. Really good first set from the Latvian, who let her opponent back in before then shutting the door. Ostapenko showing Sonmez how it's done with the aggressive approach there. Not enough on the second serve, right into the slot, but again. It wasn't a bad serve at all. Just a brilliant return right onto the baseline. Quick footwork to get out of the way of the ball. Fabulous game. Again, excellent footwork from Sonmez up to the ball. Second match point. It's just long. And Yelena Ostapenko is through to yet another Eastbourne semifinal. It will be her third here at Devonshire Park.
