Welcome to Metropolis, everybody. It's going to be a good one.
We're at the Matthews Pro Am in Metropolis, Illinois.
This is stop five of the Delta McKenzie ASA Tour.
We're currently at Mermin Lake Nature Preserve.
This is a really cool layout. We've got the big lake back there.
We've got open timber. We've got some really dense undergrowth.
Really neat how we have the different variety here.
I seem like I say that at most of the locations, which it's true.
We like to switch people up into different environments.
Being at Lake Mermin for qualifying and the amateur rounds, it's really cool.
We get to work closely with Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
They do a great job. We come in here, they've got our lanes cleared.
Alvin, Jason, and Gabe, they do an amazing job having this place ready for us.
And then running tractors, mowing grass.
I mean, I would say there's probably 200 acres of mowed grass in the last three days.
We're in Metropolis, Illinois.
And Metropolis, Illinois, you're familiar with the Superman comic books and movies.
Metropolis is the home of Superman.
This town fully embraces it.
There is a ginormous Superman figurine right in the middle of town.
They've got the Daily Planet behind it.
There's some really cool museums and shops.
Some really great restaurants downtown.
It seems like every year there's a couple more.
And we can't go to Metropolis, Illinois without mentioning Fat Ed's.
Home of the peel-and-eat shrimp and all the fried foods.
Pack that place out.
I was talking to the owner this week, and they love Archery Week.
They're super excited to welcome everybody.
Cordovino's across the street.
Just a ton of great restaurants.
Got Harrah's Casinos.
Everybody is excited when ASA comes to town.
Pro qualifying out here at Merman Lake.
So they'll compete Friday morning and Saturday morning.
Shoot for 20, target qualifying.
We'll take the top five pros in each one of the pro divisions,
and then we'll go to the Pro Pressure Point Shootdown,
which takes place at Fort Massick right outside of Metropolis.
It's got the Ohio River behind it.
It's got a historical, the fort itself is still there.
It's a really cool venue.
I know for our camera guys and production crew, they love it
because of the buildings, the trees, the river behind it.
Really neat venue to hold our Pro Pressure Point Shootdown on Saturday.
Coverage for that begins at 4 p.m. Eastern Standard Time
on Competition Archery Media's YouTube and Facebook,
and 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on the Sports District.
So with this being the last Pro-Am stop
before the Delta McKenzie Classic in Coleman, Alabama,
this is when things really heat up in the Shooter of the Year pro classes.
So this will be their final scoring before they actually go to the last tournament.
But aside that, the tension starts to build.
Even in the amateur classes with Shooter of the Year and points,
everybody's looking to get that plaque, that title of Shooter of the Year.
So that makes the Matthews Pro-Am in Metropolis, Illinois, a special one.
