I've seen these estimates that we could achieve rare earth independence by 2030.
I think that unfortunately those experts don't take into account the length of time needed to
build a mine. American Rare Earths is an Australian generated dual listed company with the mission of
becoming the key strategic asset for the United States in achieving rare earth independence from
China. It's not just the number of mines. It's the number of processing facilities. It's the
number of battery manufacturers. It's the number of very crucially magnet makers. It's those
devilish little permanent metal magnets that are in everything from cell phones and cars to giant
wind turbines and weapons of war. We don't have those. Right now in this country we have one mine.
We have one magnet manufacturer. We have five battery companies. That is not enough.
You know no one ever gives up a market advantage voluntarily. So it's completely logical that
China is using every tool at its disposal to continue to maintain its market hegemony.
The challenge has been to come up with a coordinated western response and we're not
doing that very well right now. There are opportunities however and those opportunities go
to working together to develop our collective resources and bring those to market in the most
expeditious way possible. There are a few constraints that are important to consider when
you're looking at how quickly can we make this happen. Number one is the permanent environment
and the Trump administration and particularly the president has gone a long way in trying to
alleviate that particular element through a series of executive orders. Then very crucially
is the question of finance. For American rare earths just to build our mine and our primary
stage processing facility that would be approximately 456 million dollars. The government
has been stepping forward trying to offer additional financing opportunities. The private
sector has recently joined this initiative as well. For the United States it will take us let's say
eight to ten years to begin to have enough mines and processing facilities in operation to make an
effective statement against China. So we've got to fill that gap. So those opportunities for
cooperation are really important.
