U.S. and Iran are trading attacks in the worst fighting since the ceasefire,
threatening to derail the peace process. Jeff Paul has more tonight from Tel Aviv.
Central Command has released new video it says shows the strike against Iran on Friday,
in retaliation for Thursday's drone attack on a cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz.
Do you consider the ceasefire to still be in place?
I don't like the fact that they took a shot yesterday, actually four, we knocked down three
at a ship, not an allied ship, but a ship, a very expensive ship,
but it took a little beating. They shouldn't be doing that.
Then on Saturday, Iran struck back, launching drones at Bahrain,
a close U.S. ally and outspoken critic of Tehran. And separately, British maritime security
officials say an oil tanker was hit by a projectile, also in the Strait of Hormuz.
Together, it's the worst escalation between warring sides since the two signed an interim
peace deal. And now they're accusing the other of violating that agreement.
I'm not sure that abandoning talks with them would be appropriate,
but President Trump has put them on notice. If you don't keep up your end of the deal,
we will continue to bomb you and hold you accountable.
Negotiations over a final agreement are still underway,
including the future of Iran's nuclear program. Under the interim deal,
the two nations have 60 days to work out those remaining details.
We're only nine days into this so-called ceasefire, and already Iran is
demonstrating that they cannot be trusted to keep their word.
Iran claims the U.S. hasn't held up its end of the bargain,
pointing specifically to Washington's failure to end the conflict between Hezbollah and Israel.
