IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR... when we get to celebrate Christmas in July with crafting! Hooray! This dollar tree video is packed with Christmas craft ideas using affordable craft supplies. Santa, Snowman, wreaths and more are all in this video! Get ready to have fun, because these dollar tree Christmas in July crafts are so easy to follow and relaxing.
I love a good simple project that has a wow statement. We're going to use this frame that
I found at the Dollar Tree, some scrapbook paper, some of these twist ties from the Dollar Tree,
some berries, and then whatever ribbon you might have on hand that you're interested in.
Now I found this frame over in the home section and I loved the shape of it. This year gallery
walls have been so popular and they are just such a fun thing to switch out the artwork in.
So if you happen to have a gallery wall in your home this is such a cute project to do that is
really easy to replicate in your own home. So I'm going to take off the glass and the little paper
insert and I'm going to just simply glue the actual backing to the scrapbook paper. Then I'm
going to cut it out and then just pop that right back into the frame. You'll also notice that I
cut out those little notches where the little screws turn to hold the backing in. I just snug
that right into its spot, lock it into place, and then we're going to flip it over and do something
super cute for Christmas. Very whimsical and very traditional. Go ahead and grab those twist ties
that we had earlier when I showed my supplies. I like to fluff them out a little bit before I work
with them and I'm actually going to use two of them because I found that one was still a little
kind of skimpy, not as full like I wanted it to be. I'm going to twist those together and then
fluff it again and then I'm going to bring the sides the ends up and around and twist that
together to make a mini wreath. Now what we're going to do is we are going to just simply glue
it onto the backing of the frame but before I do that, I always like to trim these just a little
bit. I feel like these little greenery picks from the dog tree are a little on the crazy side so
sometimes it just needs a little haircut. I will warn you though, the static cling of those when
you cut them, you can see it all over my sleeves and on my desk. I'm going to go ahead and glue
that down and then add on a pretty bow and this part is optional. You don't have to do it but I
really love holly berries for Christmas and Christmas decor so I'm going to just pull some
of these berries off and where the white part is showing from the paint not being there, that's the
part I'm going to glue down into the frame. For this project we're going to be using a terracotta
mini pot. I have a bunch of these on hand, some styrofoam balls, we're going to need two of them,
a skewer stick, some brads, some fabric and then some little picks that we're going to be putting
together to create a snowman. You're going to notice that I poked a couple of holes in the
styrofoam ball, added glue into those holes as well as inside of the pot. This is going to help
everything glue together nicely so your snowman doesn't pop off of the terracotta pot. Then I'm
going to take that skewer stick and I'm going to cut it down, not getting rid of the other piece
that we're cutting apart from it because we're going to use that for his nose later on, but I'm
going to use one of the pieces of the skewer stick to create a support system for the two styrofoam
balls coming together. I'm adding in the holes as well as some glue and then pushing it all together
to lock everything into place. Now I wanted to make my snowman frosty so I'm going to take some
Mod Podge. I'm using a matte Mod Podge and then I'm going to add glitter to it. You can skip this part
if you don't want to do glitter but I just think it looks so pretty and frosty and when I think of
a snowman they should look frosty because they're out in the snow. I like to do a combination of two
different glitters. I'm using a sugar glitter as well as this darling snowflake glitter and I just
picked these up from different craft stores. I know the Target dollar spot often has a lot of
these little jars of glitters where I typically get mine. If I don't get it there then I get it
from Hobby Lobby or Michaels or sometimes I order it online on Amazon. Now I'm going to take a piece
of this red and white ticking stripe fabric and I'm going to wrap that right around his neck so
he's cozy out there in the cold. Glue it into place and then that extra part of the skewer stick,
the pointy part, I'm going to dip that right down into some orange paint. This part is so easy.
Wipe off the extra, take a paper towel, rub it around so it's not too thick and then dry it with
my heat gun. Once I've got that dried I'm going to go ahead and cut it down to size and do a little
bit of distressing on it with my Ranger chocolate ink pad. I'm just going to roll that around in
there just a little bit and then I'm going to push it into the foam, add that glue and push it
into place so it locks in and it's now glued in and has a darling snowman nose. Now I'm moving on
to his coal buttons for his eyes and tummy. You can use a whole bunch of things. I'm going to be
using brads. You could definitely use beads, you could use little pieces of clay, whatever you have
on hand. If you're going to use brads I highly recommend putting a dot of glue, let it cool for
about a second or two and then push the brad in. If you try to add glue to the brad it will get too
hot because it's metal. So once I've got all of those little coal buttons in place for his eyes,
his smile, his tummy, I then can start decorating his scarf area and you can go with as creative
as this as you want, you keep adding to it. You can add a hat, you can add a darling little beanie,
you can put whatever you want on these snowmen, the sky is the limit. You can make them as big
as you want or as small as you want but I think the fun part is just being creative
and customizing the way you want. Now I'm adding on some greenery, a pine cone, a berry and then I
can't help myself, I love bows and buttons so I'm going to add on a twine bow because I feel
like it has that rustic cottage look, that farmhouse look to it. I'm going to add on a twine bow
and then a vintage button that has gold and a pearl on it. I think these all coming together
makes the cutest charming little snowman for your decor. If you haven't yet please don't forget to
give this video a thumbs up. I adore these metal trees from the Dollar Tree. They're in their
Dollar Plus section for three dollars and this burlap upholstery ribbon I actually get on Amazon
so I'm going to link it down below but you can use any burlap ribbon that they have at the Dollar
Tree. I really wanted to get this red stripe in here because I just think it is just so beautiful
for the Christmas season. Now what we're going to do is we are going to be gluing this ribbon onto
this metal tree and honestly you can leave the tree as is but I'm a crafter and I like to make
things look a little bit more special. So what we're going to do is we are going to just simply
glue it on with a pleated fold. I learned as I was going along with this project the more glue that I
added and we want to make sure that we're being cautious we don't have a bunch of glue strings
everywhere but the more glue I added the better it added that resistance and that hold onto the
metal tree and these trees are perfect to glue ribbon onto because they already have this texture
on it so it's not going to have your ribbon come off over time because there's nothing worse than
making a craft project and then it falls apart. So we are going to just add in a whole bunch of
glue and we're going to just continue to work with our burlap ribbon. You can use any ribbon
on this they even have a beautiful green ribbon in the craft section at the Dollar Tree or you can
use white ribbon you can use their burlap ribbon that has the lace on it so many pretty options but
the idea is is to give this tree a textured ribbon look to it and I'm obviously going for a high-end
farmhouse look on this one so just keep adding in your glue and you're going to see here I'm going
just keep putting on a ton there really is no real true method other than just keeping it looking
tidy on the inside not getting all over on the outside and I'm not going to worry too much about
the extra pleats on the outside I'm going to come back and add hot glue in a second but first I'm
going to trim off where I need the ribbon to stop and I'm going to go ahead and just measure to make
sure I've got that all the right length to be able to pleat that into place and now I'm going to add
in some more glue again a lot of glue go ahead and just pinch over the end and then you're going
to just pleat that all down into place making sure everything lies nice and flat now I learned
the best thing to do with this particular upholstery ribbon I'm going to hold it to make
sure that the glue is really getting into the fibers and after I've been holding it for a few
moments I decided to go get some rubber bands because that was even better so I just doubled
up a big rubber band put that right on and then I actually go in and I go between all of those
pleats on the outside and add some glue to hold everything in place and then again I'm going to
add in another rubber band to make sure everything stays in place while it's drying I really like to
always give my projects time to dry before I move on so things just don't shift and move on me
I don't like when things get out of place when I want them to stay where I need them to stay
so you can see here I'm just kind of fluffing the ribbon playing with it while the glue is still
warm and doesn't that look so cute already now that first rubber band is ready to come off and
all you do is you just take your scissors and just snip it and it falls right off and you have got a
beautiful two-layered tree so far now I'm going to add on two more you can see I've got that third
one on there and now I'm going to come to the top because it's basically just repeating itself
I just wanted to make sure I showed the top one how I come in tighter at the top so that it has a
nice skinny neck at the top of the tree and I'm going to make sure I'm tucking it down underneath
the star's point so it doesn't get all caught up in that and you can see the star beautifully
but you can also see the neck of the top of the tree I'm going to just continue to hold that in
place put my rubber band on it and I'm going to do some adjustments because I wanted to make sure
that everything looked nice and neat and tidy at the top and again add more hot glue where you need
hot glue just to make sure everything holds into place and you can see here I'm doing some
adjustments and I'm just going to shift around that rubber band to make sure everything is holding
while it's drying now once I've got all of my hot glue dried ribbon in place I'm going to remove all
of those rubber bands and then I'm going to come in with a beautiful twine bow and this is super
simple to make I just spread my fingers open my four fingers and I start wrapping the twine around
multiple times I would say I probably went around maybe like 10 times then I'm going to take the
existing twine that's on the actual spool and I'm going to wrap that around maybe about five times
using the extra start piece of the twine and I'm going to tie two knots it's going to want to slip
a little bit just because it's not tied make sure you hold down your twine bow in place right in the
middle as you double knot the center of it then you're going to go ahead and just adjust it a
little bit trim off any of the extra that you don't need I decided to add a doubled up tail on it
so what I'm going to do is I'm just going to cut another piece of twine I'm going to wrap it around
the center twice and then do another double knot bringing those tails down to the middle of the bow
this is the easiest bow to make and it has such a beautiful high-end farmhouse look go ahead and
take that and glue it to the top of your tree right underneath your star and you can see I
removed my rubber band to make sure it's all in place I'm going to add a nice dollop of hot glue
at the top hold it in place until it is completely dry and at this point you have yourself the most
beautiful farmhouse high end decor look for Christmas for this craft we're going to be using
some nautical rope some that's already been untwisted and some that's twisted some greenery
some ticking stripe fabric white burlap which is actually my favorite to work with around the
Christmas season two gold jingle bells and then one of these frosted berry picks all of these
things have come from the Dollar Tree except for the fabric now I'm going to take my white burlap
and I'm going to layer it about six times so that when I do this little hand cut out
you can see here that I'm just tracing around my hand with the sharpie marker to create a
mitten pattern and I want to be able to create six of them at the same time so I'm just gonna
cut the fabric and I'm making it where you know the edges don't have to be perfect because we
wanted to have that rusted country charm so we're just cutting off any extra that's bulky and
causing any issues to cut it and then once I've got those all cut out I'm going to need six of
them because I like to take three for one side and three for the other mitten the other side
and the reason why I do that is because burlap itself has a little bit of a hole to it it's
woven really loosely and so sometimes the batting pops through so I make sure that I'm putting the
batting towards the back side of those two gloves so the front side has two gloves to kind of prevent
the batting from wanting to poke through now I'm just gluing it together and massaging the burlap
to make sure that it's nice and glued so that it's not coming apart on the sides and once I've got
that done I glued the two gloves together you can see that I've kind of brought one down a little
bit lower than the other one and then I added in some greenery and now I'm adding on with that
untwisted nautical rope left over from another project I'm just tying that around to cinch up
the wristband of the glove now you could leave it like this but I really love the idea of fraying it
just making it look more rustic country charm for Christmas and then I'm just going to glue
them down in place because I like things to stay where I put them now I'm going to go ahead and
take my nautical rope that's still twisted and I'm going to glue that inside of the two gloves
and the reason why I love that is because we'll be able to hang it up somewhere on a hook
or a doorknob or a door whatever you want to put it on and now I'm just going to add in some of
these berries I think the berries bringing in that pop of red with green just has that traditional
beautiful Christmas look to it so once I've got that in place I'm going to add on those two
gold jingle bells and I'm just using hot glue I like to make sure that when I do glue with metal
there is some kind of an opening on the metal to be able to get the glue in to lock all into place
so the part where you can add some string I'm putting glue into that hole and then putting
the bells on the glove now at this point you can leave it as is but again I'm going for that country
rustic primitive charm I'm going to go ahead and just distress these with some brown paint
I'm just lightly brushing it on going back over adding on several different layers
and then for the bells to give it a rustic look I'm just simply taking some of that brown paint
and tapping it on certain spots and corners and adding some to that greenery pick now the last
thing I'm going to do is add some frost I'm taking Mod Podge and I'm just tapping a nice thick
clumpiness of it onto the gloves on the spots that frost or snow would fall in them and I'm
adding first a chunkier glitter and then I'm adding a sugar glitter this really just makes
it look so beautiful and frosty this sign is so adorable and I picked it up from the Dollar Tree
and we are going to glam it up more than what it is I'm taking some drop cloth fabric I'm going to
do a snip and rip it down I had someone ask me the other day where I get my drop cloth fabric
from and I get it in the painting section at home improvement stores you will find it in a really
large sheet where people use it as a drop cloth for painting rooms so you'll get a great deal
for all of this fabric and it has that very rustic or farmhouse country charm to it and you can rip
it up as much as you want and it goes the longest way I bought one and I have been basically using
it for like a whole year now I'm going to take those strips I'm going to glue down one corner
hold it in place and I'm going to twirl the other end once I've twirled and twirled and twirled
I can now start to put extra glue around that first spot and coil that twirled drop cloth fabric
around in a circle we're making a whole bunch of these curly cubed rosettes all over the part
where the Santa beard is at I thought this would be so cute to add texture to this sign and really
dress it up and make it special now I don't want my curls to be too big for Santa so I'm going
around about three times I think about three or four times and I'm wrapping it very tightly as
I'm twisting the other end and this is creating these little curly rosettes all over once I end
up getting through the entire area it is so charming and perfect for a Santa beard I just
think this is such a fun technique to add in texture and interest to a Dollar Tree sign it's
cute but we can make it even cuter so I'm going around cutting off the pieces that are too long
for the circle I'm going for probably about an inch to an inch and a half wide on my circles
and I'm just filling in anywhere where I would see that beard and it already had that scallop at the
bottom of his beard so it just works out really great for these little rosette curls now that
I've had the whole thing filled in I'm going to move on to the very top a couple of videos back
I showed that I found this ribbon that has holly berry leaves and berries and I'm going to just add
two of those at the top because he already has one up there on his hat and then I'm going to add on
this frosted berry onto the felt I thought that was such a cute addition to it and then for the
tree down below where it's on his shirt I'm going to add on a bow just to cover that up add on some
of this frosty leaf from a pick I got from Hobby Lobby and I'm just going to keep layering and
layering and layering now I'm going to add on a bow on top of that frosty leaf and I really love
that doubled up bow with the leaf in there I just think it's so pretty to hang it up up at the top
they had just a really chintzy twine up there I'm going to add on a piece of wire twist it around
add on some wooden beads and then I'm going to do something special to make it have a nice
finished look I'm going to take the end of the wire I'm going to run it back down through the
first bead I'm going to show that in just a second so you could go through the bottom hole like this
or you could pull it back out and go through the first bead I like going through the first bead
because look at how nice and finished that bead ring at the top is when you come back through that
first bead then go through the hole come around the back and twist the wire into place and again
you could definitely do it where you just go through the hole again but it's going to cause
the wire to not lay quite right with the beads but if you do it this way where you run through
the hole first it has the best finishing look to it has a very high end polished style at the end
cut off the last of the wire you don't need twist it into place and you have
the most beautiful textured santa decor piece that came from the dollar tree and you really
customized it you're going to be using this glass vase a terracotta pot and one of these led battery
operated candle lights start by taking some white paint and put a coat over your terracotta pot
this dries pretty quickly but if you're having an issue with it drying
or taking too long you can use a heat gun I love using my heat gun because not only does it dry
paint really quickly it also helps me take off those stickers once you heat up the adhesive
on the stickers now I'm going to take my e6000 and I'm going to take my hot glue for a long term
short term hold the hot glue locks it in place quickly while that e6000 takes time to dry now
don't forget to flip it over because there is a hole in that terracotta pot and that glue will
want to come out onto your craft table and make a giant mess so once I got that bottom on I flipped
it over and let it dry for a little bit now I'm just adding some greenery and some berry garland
because I just think that that's so pretty for Christmas you can honestly just put a bow if you
want to with a ribbon whatever you would like at this point it's so many different possibilities
that you have to create and decorate this now I'm going to also add on these three darling little
berries and then for my candle I'm going to add some hot glue to the bottom base go down in there
with my pliers to make sure it doesn't flip over on accident and kind of guide it in and glue it
into place this is going to allow you to have that base in there nice and secure it also cleans up
the inside of the glass so you don't see that terracotta in there on the glass because you can
see that it's clear see-through so now I'm going to come in with some brown paint give it a little
bit of a rustic charm look with some distressing add on a ticking stripe bow and I'm just going to
pop that right underneath the berries because I just think that is so darling and at this point
it's ready to light up and put on a table this next project is going to be using two foam squares
and these four adorable wood cut out signs now these are meant for outside in your garden but
truly friends I would not put these out in the rain or the snow because after a while they do
fall apart but we're going to make an adorable whimsical high-end expensive looking door wreath
and it's really more like a door sign because you'll see it's not round like a wreath but
regardless so you can see that I popped off all three of the snowman the elf and the reindeer
and I'm going to take an extra one of those sticks and I'm going to just glue two of them together to
get the length that we need use two zip ties to secure it even more and then with my butter knife
that I keep in my craft room I'm just cutting those foam squares in half then I'm going to
take some hot glue and glue those three foam squares down really securely onto those sticks
that came off of the other sides now at this point you can use whatever florals or greenery picks you
want I had these really beautiful red peonies that I wanted to put on because I loved the texture
I just thought they looked so pretty and I went around the sides of the faux now I'm going to
take my cute little signs and I'm going to start gluing those kind of zigzagging them back and
forth and the reason why I did the snowman second and the reindeer third is because I didn't want
the red and the red on the hats of the reindeer and Santa to be too close to each other I wanted
to mix it up to have that black in between and have the stripe on the bottom now I'm going to
take some of this green mesh I cut out a long strip folded it in half and then did a simple
knot I just looped around my finger and pulled it through this makes it look like a bow without
going through the efforts of struggling with making a bow with these things I feel like the
mesh netting stuff is so tricky to work with the sides kind of stick to each other so I like doing
it this way and you get the volume of a bow without all the effort now I'm going to just simply glue
three of those in place to add in some fun color and I'm going to do that same technique with the
bow where I just fold it in half tie a knot with this glitter ribbon beware this stuff is a mess
from this glitter ribbon it like blew up glitter everywhere you can see right below but it's so
pretty and it adds that pizzazz and sparkle to this front door wreath that we're making
so I decided to go with it you can avoid this one if you don't like glitter you can use a
different ribbon if you would like so I'm going to just add those ribbons on the sides and now
I'm going to come in with these red berries and fill them in even more adding some more texture
and just more dimension to this beautiful home decor piece this is just such an easy fun project
and it really just has such a wow statement on a door so once you've got all those berries popped
into place I'm going to add a little country charm and add on this gingham bow at the top
and the bottom making sure I add in some more of that cute texture for Christmas and then on the
back I'm going to just simply flip it over take some twine to create a hook so that I can hang
it up on my door and that's it it's ready to be displayed for this DIY we're going to be using
three of these wood rounds and this is kind of a three for one on this project you honestly could
make as many of these as you want I picked up this box of wood rounds from artesia I'm going to
link it down below in my description box if you're looking for some of these but what I did was I
started with painting white circles in the middle of each one and then once they were dry I went
ahead and came in with my pencil and I just sketched on three different words as well as a
little green vine on each of them I like to do this first with my pencil instead of just going
at it with paint because it is so easy to make a mistake and then have to start over it's so
frustrating so I always like to go in with my pencil first I always keep one in my craft room
for measuring or whatever or handwriting and then I'm just now going to come in with my black paint
and I'm going to take my time this is obviously sped up for tv but I like to take my time when
I'm painting these and then I'm going to come back in with my green and simply paint on a vine
and I've got a beautiful set of three ornaments and to finish it off I added some twine and a
cute bow up at the top to hang up on my tree I found this darling sign at the Dollar Tree and
they had a whole bunch of different versions but I loved this one believe in the magic of Christmas
I am a big sucker for the magic of Christmas we're gonna dress it up so we can make it a
little more high-end because it's cute as it is but why stop there when we can make it even cuter
I cut off the pre-existing beaded twine and I'm gonna add some wire I feel like anytime we add
wire to these handles it instantly makes it look more high-end so I'm gonna take my wire twist it
around lock it in place add back on those beads and then lock it back into place with the other
hole this already just upgrades these pieces from the Dollar Tree and it looks so much nicer now
next we're going to embellish it because again it's cute and we can end with this handle where
it's a little bit of an upgrade or we could take it a step further which is always my favorite to
do here in my craft room I'm going to use this pick piece from Hobby Lobby that I picked up 50%
off I'm going to cut off some of these berry stems that have little leaves all over I thought this
would be so cute I'm going to add some hot glue and I'm basically just going to glue that right
in the middle where the handle is at the top I'm going to shift around some of those little berries
so they lay nicely on there and then I'm going to come in with a gingham bow that they have at the
Dollar Tree the best time of year to get gingham ribbon from the Dollar Tree honestly is at
Valentine's and Christmas they have the best gingham ribbon there at those times of year so I
always just keep an eye out for it when I know those two holidays are coming around and I pick
them up I tied this darling simple bow I trimmed down the tails because I want to be able to see
the words I'm going to add a little bit of hot glue just the tiniest dot underneath these tails
and that's going to help keep the words from being blocked by the ribbon once that was glued in place
I'm going to use some of these frosted berry pieces from the Dollar Tree as well they have so
many good crafts you guys definitely go to the Dollar Tree and check it out and then I'm going
to just pull off the wire and put that right in the center of the bow doesn't it look high in now
something you would see in a boutique this craft is going to continue to grow as we create it I
have this darling milk jug that we're going to use for a floral arrangement some greenery which
is a frosted fern and a berry pick from the Dollar Tree and we're going to just put that foam in there
and add all of this greenery to it now you're going to see that we could stop at the greenery
or keep adding more to it I really love playing with projects here in my craft room and just
personalizing it and making it my own now once I had my foam piece glued into my milk jug
vase I'm going to go ahead and add some glue to the top of the foam this is the easiest way I find
to get that fern in there and let it stick quickly without having to keep glue gluing each stem of the
pick and then once those were all poked into place I'm going to cover up the rest of the foam around
the edges because I don't want to see that part I don't think that that looks very nice I'm going
to just come in with some Spanish moss going along the edges and tucking it down into the jug
now we're going to come in and start adding in some of that holiday red that we would see during
the winter seasons assuming the deers have not come through or the squirrels or the chipmunks
and have picked up all of your holly berries from your plants go ahead tuck those down in there
again I added my hot glue down in there and then I'm poking it down into the hot glue
it just makes it so much easier than fighting with the glue on the end of the stick and getting burnt
now you can see here that this could be a completed look this is what I was talking about
it's so beautiful it would look so lovely on a table but let's make it a little more whimsical
these signs of the dollar tree are so fun to work with and again you don't have to only just stick
them in your yard or hang them up on a nail or hook in your home you can turn them into decor
pieces by breaking off these sticks cutting off the twine little tag ribbon loop at the top and
then putting them together with some other pieces so I'm going to take this I broke down the stick
and I'm going to stake that down into the foam and again we could stop there it's super cute
just adding this frosty the snowman at the top we could stop there but I decided let's just keep
playing with it and adding some more embellishments to it so I took some of these clear snowflakes
and I glued two to the back of him one down lower one up higher and then I'm going to come in with
some more of my famous snowflake buttons this season I just love these buttons I could see
these on some cards I could see these on decor all sorts of stuff I'm just going to glue them
all over and then we've got a completed look that looks so high-end I love the process of crafting
how we can take random embellishments random signs from the dollar tree and bringing them
all together to make something special that is so high-end looking and custom for your home
crafting truly brings me so much joy to my heart I have been crafting ever since I can remember
since I was about six years old maybe even a little bit before that but that's when the crafting bug
bit me how about you leave a comment down below to let me know how long you have been crafting
