Hi everybody, welcome back to Joobzanker, Michelle Jubry, David Reed, Anzia, Yousef.
Now, do you live in Stoke Heath in Stropshire? You might have been surprised to see your local
neighbourhood on the front page of The Sun today. Many people getting upset about what's actually
going on following on from that conversation we've just been having about asylum seekers
and what you actually do with them because now there's a new build estate that have been
developed. Quarter of a million pound houses, very nice houses. 21 of these have now been earmarked
for asylum seekers. Now, lots of my viewers here, they would love a brand new house to move them and
their family into. It is a pipe dream, it's not going to happen for them. This is completely wrong,
the priorities in this country are wrong, are they not? Well, if you want to be able to live in a
brand new home worth a quarter of a million pounds, to buy that home you're going to need
a household income of around at least £50,000, probably closer to £60,000 to £70,000 and you're
going to need to have saved up for a deposit. There are fewer and fewer British people have
worked hard their entire lives who would fit themselves into that category and yet now we see,
and again we talk about the ritual humiliation of the British people, it turns out if you want to be
able to live in a brand new home worth a quarter of a million pounds on what looks like quite a
lovely estate, then all you have to do is break into Britain and you win the grand prize. And I
want to make another point here that obviously there's going to be a huge amount of anger,
quite rightly, at this Labour government about this, but in 2021 it was the Tory-controlled
Shropshire Council that voted to make Shropshire a, quote, Council of Sanctuary and every other
council, it was a unanimous cross-party, unanimous decision. Obviously Reform didn't have anyone on
that council. So what we're seeing now and the reason why I think it is inflaming emotions so
much, provoking people so much, is because my inbox is full, Michelle, of people saying,
Zia, I don't know why I bother. Why do I bother? What you're seeing in those pictures is something
that was aspirational. You know, if you go back to the early 1980s, those are the sorts of houses
that, you know, young people getting their second, third, fourth jobs, wanted to be able to go out
and buy and now what we're seeing is there's this ridiculous snakes and ladders system where,
you know, an illegal migrant, we talk about incentives, break into the country illegally
and you will get to live in a home like that at the expense of the people who aspire to live
in a home like that but never will. Using the internet without a VPN, a virtual private network,

hides your IP address and helps keep your data private. When you're browsing the internet at
home, you give up a large amount of data to businesses, to shops and indeed to social media
giants too. Hackers have the ability to steal your personal data with ease, including sensitive
information such as passwords, keystrokes and even your personal photos. Private Internet Access
helps protect your personal data by encrypting your internet connection to keep your data
out of the hands of cyber criminals. And it's not just hackers either to be concerned about.

I can tell you as well, the Home Secretary, she just issued a statement on this. She says,
or the Home Office say, new homes should never house asylum seekers. They say earlier this year,
the Home Secretary introduced robust processes to ensure that new build sites like Stoke Heath
can never be considered again. But as I understand it, all of these houses are not yet fully occupied.
So I don't quite understand. If they haven't yet been occupied, surely it's not too late to just
say, right, we'll pull the plug on this one here and now. But clearly it is. So there you go. Yet
She is the Home Secretary. Her government are Labour. She has the power to sort this stuff.
Did you actually create this then? Did you earmark these houses for asylum seekers?
I don't know about the exact policy from a previous council in Shropshire, but the government
have had two years to sort some of these problems out and they haven't even touched the site. I
think this is what I hear repeatedly now from every age group in my constituency.
Now, the stories that I grew up with when I was growing up was work hard. If you can go to
university, go. If not, go get a good apprenticeship scheme. But the most important thing is go out and
contribute. And if you go out and contribute, then the doors of society will open to you.
You'll be able to go and buy a house. You have to start a family. That system is breaking down
very quickly. And when we see examples like this, so for Stoke Heath, it's a small place and the
population is increasing by 35 percent with these people coming into these houses. If you've bought
into that story about working hard all your life and then you see someone coming in to game that
system and then you see the area that you love, that you've bought into, that you've worked hard
to be in changing very quickly. Of course, you can understand why people are so angry.
But it goes back to that central point that all of these problems are not solvable without leaving
the international legal structures that we have hanging over us at the moment. That's the route
that we need to take. Well, are you in the local vicinity? Because it's all well and good us sitting
in a remote TV station, you know, talking about this. This will have real impacts. And we've just
been hearing about it on many of you in these facilities. It's not just this vicinity, by the
way. This is not just a random one off. Absolutely not. I want to hear from you. And this key point,
I do think it's a really key point. Do you still feel motivated to go and do the right thing within
society? The right thing, obviously, being going out, having personal responsibility,
having accountability, regarding it as your responsibility to provide for your children,
your responsibility to put a roof over your head. When you see the kind of stuff that you're seeing
on the screen right now, these lovely, beautiful new build houses being allocated to people who
some people would suggest wouldn't even or shouldn't even be in this country. Of course,
the Home Office would dispute that and say that they've passed all the checks and balances.
It just does not feel fair. It doesn't. And I'm absolutely fascinated. If you think it does feel
fair, I'm absolutely fascinated to hear from you. Join the conversation in all the usual ways and
get in touch, particularly as well. If you are in that local vicinity, I want to hear from you.
Dear, dear me, I long for the day, ladies and gents, where I don't have to talk about this
stuff. I absolutely long for the day where this significant issue is finally, once and for all,
being put to bed. I would put to you at home that actually it's never going to be put to bed
until you get the likes of the Navy in the channel and you push these boats back. Your
ex at Royal Marines, don't you think that it should be time now that you've got the Navy
in the channel and you're pushing the boats back? So our military works under legal structures
and I will keep reinforcing the point, the military won't be able to do that job if we
have these international legal structures hanging over us. This is the job that politicians need to
do now, which is step up, realise that these things aren't serving us and leave them. And
we'd have the ability to be able to push this stuff back. And I think that would act as such
a deterrent that people coming across here illegally, that knew that the streets weren't
paved with gold and you're going to be removed on day one, that would stop or limit the amount
of people that are coming. So is it international structures that are stopping the Navy going into
the water or is it lack of political will? It's absolutely lack of political will. But we just
saw earlier in the programme, we saw footage of men, again, taunting the British people. That's
the only thing that can be described as throwing their passports, filming TikTok, putting these
things on social media. This is this is supposed to be the United Kingdom. And we are we are being
richly humiliated like this. Now, if you want to ask why are people doing this? Well, I can draw a
straight line between that behaviour and the fact that people exactly like this who did this exact
thing are going to shortly be moving into quarter of a million pound lovely new homes at the expense
of the taxpayers. So it absolutely is. We need, of course, we need to leave the ECHR, not just that
there's a whole other load of other international treaties that we must derogate from. But the
notion that, for example, our Navy are incapable of operating in any way. Look, you're a Royal
Marine, you would know that actually His Majesty's Royal Navy have conducted many humanitarian
missions where they take people off small boats and it's completely safe and there's no issue with
it at all. So again, we go back to the original point, which is, do we have a government that
actually wants to do it and do that? Does that prime minister who would want to do it? Are they
flanked and supported by a working majority of MPs who want that thing? If they do, then there
is absolutely no reason for this stuff to continue. And I go back to the original point. I appreciate
you winning government at the time, but how can you take how can you expect the British people
to take seriously a Conservative government that has taken this long, 15 and a half coming on 16
years now to say that we need to do the first and simplest thing, which is leave the ECHR.
So going back to the point I opened with, that we're not the only ones being affected by this.
Our near neighbours across Europe are also being affected by it. So you get into the technicalities
of using the Royal Navy to go push back migrant boats. What are the French going to do? If you
push those people back into international waters, what will the French do? Well, so let's go through
a few different points here. Number one, the British people are currently sending, so the
British taxpayer sent 700 million pounds to the French government. So how about they actually
uphold their end of the bargain, which they keep delivering lip service to. Is it in their interest
to do that? In their national interest? No, it's not. The only way to do it is to excuse around
this point and go to those international legal structures that are hanging over us and make
sure that we leave. Nobody is disputing that we need to leave those international structures. What
people are frustrated about, what people are frustrated about is that it has been abundantly
clear. Completely take issue. Maybe we just weren't paying attention. But you know, back in
when David Cameron was prime minister, Article 8 of the ECHR was all over the front page news
as a result of, you know, for example, a man who killed a little girl in a hit and run accident.
Incredibly moving tragedy. It was a foreign national and he couldn't be deported because of
Article 8 of the ECHR. That was all over the press such that David Cameron actually wrote a letter
to the poor victim's father. That was when David Cameron was prime minister. And now we're sitting
here. How many years has it been since he left office? We've had this endless carousel of prime
ministers who have failed to, as I say, do the most basic duty, which is say, you know what?
The British people's interests are going to come first. So we live in a democracy and the point
that you just raised is central. Is there enough backbench MPs to be able to buy into this stuff?
I think it's because it's become more mainstream over recent years and people are actually seeing
these issues in their towns and villages. The British people kept voting for so-called
conservative MPs who were more interested in policing people at Islington dinner parties
than actually doing right by the people who voted them in. I have more faith that the system
will correct itself now because this is a problem across the country. Labour MPs, reform MPs,
conservative MPs, we see it. Things are changing. I think the fact that these policies are now coming
out from a Labour government, the Labour backbenchers would have never talked about this
five years ago, but things are starting to change. Are they moving fast enough? I don't think they
are. And it goes back to those central points that until you leave those international legal
structures, you're not going to be able to structurally sort this problem out.
