Well we've come away again this time we're in Norfolk and we're only staying 30 miles or so
away from Peterbills and it would have been rude of me not to come in and see what roses
are in bloom today. So you know how it works we're going to go in I'm going to show you the roses
that are in bloom I'm going to pick out my favourites and I'm going to walk away with
one rose. So morning lovely viewer let's get in there and let's see the roses in bloom
and we're just we're just leaving the retail section now going into the garden and this is
this is a rose called Apple Blossom. It's similar it has a similar look to
but this rose here it does look very healthy I have to say
small flowers but it's putting on a dazzling display look at that dazzling dazzling display
whenever I come to these places I don't know what um stage the the roses are going to be in
of flower and I think I've I've hit the jackpot again I really have look at that
absolutely beautiful there's no fragrance to this rose that I'm getting today maybe a little bit
just a slight fragrance but that is absolutely divine it really is the bees are going crazy
for this rose we're going to make our way inside but that is rose Apple Blossom
and I've already seen some roses I want to to take a look at
oh I really don't want a long video I really don't if anything it gives you ideas for colours
you know matching colours this is a it's one of the finest rose gardens
in the country I think these colours working together absolutely beautiful absolutely
beautiful there's a wren in the background there as well look at that now this is a rose
I didn't I didn't film it last year as part of the tour it's rose Indiana May
it's a very striking colour a very striking pink but I mean look at these buds here
just look at all that there Indiana May there's the size with any fragrance on that flower
I'll try again we have had an awful lot of rain this last week a lot of rain and a lot of wind
Indiana May that's fantastic and this this here is something I've spoken about before
there's no names on these roses here unfortunately but I believe that that could be Kivscape
up the top there of that viewing platform but you see the white the pink and the red
I really like that I think that that works that works together very well indeed now Peterbill's
they're very good with their name badges normally but I've had a look and I can't I can't get a name
for this rose here but I think it could rose Kivscape possibly if anyone knows please do
let me know that's lovely this rose here it's a rose that always draws my attention
whenever I come here it's a rose I haven't got but it's the Churchill rose and it's um
I've not long got here but it's the it's the most fragrant rose that I've put my nose to so far
it really is a lovely flower one look at that the Churchill rose that is very nice a modern shrub
2011 but that is a lovely lovely rose right there and that's that's interesting this is
the Churchill rose and they're actually um growing this as a climber as well that's interesting
I didn't realize that but that really is a a lovely a lovely rose and fragrant well I apologize
about the sound I am going to show you my favorites from today but look just look at these
look at these um roses here Ramblers I think most of them this one here that you're seeing
at the entrance here is called Francoise I'm not gonna murder the name there it is there
focus on that but that is just gorgeous these arches put together like this that is just divine
Ivers rose is the one on the left yeah these are these are really old roses and the fragrance here
is insane the garland is it this one here is called the garland that is lovely the garland
more to come from from that one but this pink one here this is stealing the show I think that
could be mini haha you know no it's called Super Fairy Rambler 1996 and this one Super Fairy
just packed packed let's see if there's fragrance to it 1996 oh it's thorny
oh it's got fragrance as well yeah I don't as you know I don't normally call fragrance
it's so complex and I don't pretend to to be an expert in this field but I am getting a strong
sense of aniseed from from this rose very fragrant and it's a rose that very much
likes to likes to flower right must get on to my favorites I can't help it I can't help but wander
around and just look at this garden I can't there's one rose I've seen that looks particularly
nice in fact we're going to go and we're going to go and have a look at this rose here it's only a
solitary flower but it's this one here Margaret Margaret Greyville Margaret Greville it's a 2017
shrub rose slight fragrance to that one
so glad I came Donna's taking photographs she's walking around the heathland all day
leaving me on my own 30 miles distance to Peterbilt it had to happen how much I'm going
to include in this video I don't know I don't I just wanted it to be my favorites
but they're all my favorites they really are
look at this here just these colors working together there's been some planning going here
let's look drives about the sound a lovely lovely bed here you see with a walkway down
through the middle and they bisected they bisected this rose bed odd circle
and that works now this this is a rose I've had a walk around
and this is a rose that I have got it's Oxford Physics and it features quite a lot
in this garden and it's already been pruned so it's already had this is going to be its
second flush that's coming through and that's always good to see that when you see buds that
are starting to open flowers and this new growth that is coming through and budding
like that that's going to flower well I think that's always a good sign and look you see
plenty of buds it's a large flower look all those stamens in there a soft pink
a few stamens very nice very nice but you see it's been pruned so that's first flush there
this is going to be the second flush coming through but that's a lovely flower that really is
looks very healthy there's a rose down here quite a large shrub rose that's taken my eye
it's drawing me to it and I've got a fragrance from somewhere I've got to investigate
whilst the dog pulls me nope we're going this way it might be this one here oh yeah that's
found it found it stop the clock um this it looks like uh it looks like rose de riche isn't
rose de riche of portland 1880 yeah I've got this rose
very fragrant it's most of them have gone over but they're still still giving me a scent there
rose de riche I know the pronunciation I'm sure but it's this rose over here
it's really caught my eye yeah it's a it's a soft pink this one president almond zinc
floribunda 1998 let's see if it's um fragrant oh yeah that's fragrant as well
oh that's really fragrant yeah that's a lovely scent that rose there it's probably on the
slope for this flush but it's putting on a dazzling display it really is look at that
stains in there as well focus look at that beautiful beautiful and this here this here
is rose mum in a million and I've got to have a smell of this one yeah it was always always always
going to be fragrant rose mum in a million fantastic rose look at this here look at this
should we just have a walk through let's have a walk through we're doing it we're doing it
this here is a rose there's only one on it at the moment it's um rose rose nut house
from 2009 a modern shrub it's a lovely yellow for that really is a lovely yellow
and it's fragrant as well strong fragrance rose in the house rose in the house
but that's a lovely flower that one it's budding up over there come on let's go through
the light shining through you see these how they've done this here these supports
and then they've got beams running through and then they've got the climbers the ramblers
twisted around those beams going down that's how they that's how they do it look at that
this rose here is called wedding day from 1950 and I tell you what there's not a single bit
of black spot on that on that rose we've got one on this side and one the adjacent side
oh linda this one's for you this one's for you this is
glaine de falagon musk 1916 1916 let's come around here let me see if i can get some fragrance on
this in fact oh i'm not i'm not no no i've got to keep trying i've got to keep trying
there's some that have just started to go over i'm getting a slight fragrance from this one here
just a slight fragrance but this is a rose that certainly likes to flower
and even though many of these um flowers have gone over you see that it needs a serious dead
heading it's still got that color it's still it's still very good on the eye yes look at that
you've got one this side and one that side in fact let's get the name of this pink rose
because i think that works well i think that works well rosy mantle 1968
so it's quite an old rose but that it's got scent to it as well it's fragrant definitely
fragrant yeah it's a perfume fragrance that's what i'm getting from from this rose it's an old one
there's some gorgeous there look at that there look at that
there's a rose here i'd like to get a name for this because there
it's a strong pink i'm not getting fragrance from that it's a very strong pink but you see
that and the white give it a focus that works very well see if we can get a name for that rose
that is a modern climber 1957 and that's what it's called there
cold shrew i'm murdering these names i'm sure
but that is that is lovely that is lovely
oh this is i remember this this is new dawn this is new dawn yeah i remember this
it's probably past its best but you see
i'm still getting a lovely and lovely fragrance even from that rose that is past its best
there's one there new dawn amazing scent amazing yes gorgeous towering all the way up
this is another rose that's caught my eye celestial is an alba from 1810
and for my nose here today extremely fragrant and a gorgeous scent as well
small small flower very nice very nice rose indeed well having walked around
i decided that this was my favorite fragrance and annoyingly i thought initially there was no
there was no name for it i had a good look but it has got the most gorgeous fragrance even these
flowers here that's gone over strong fragrance and one that i particularly like but i thought
it had no name and then i've just discovered that it is the anniversary rose delish sweet
perfume de provence strong scent it is indeed and it's a rose i've already got i think i've
got two of them and i yeah i i was blind to it i guess um but i can remember the first time i come
here i took one whiff of this rose and i i had to get it but i only have that one so i can't get
that one in fact this has happened a couple of times i thought oh i really like that rose
and then i've looked at the name badge and um i've already got it that's obviously not a fine
example at the moment but a gorgeous a gorgeous scent i've found another groves the house
this one has got far more flowers on it but again it's a
it's a lovely yellow i think with a nice fragrance very scented gorgeous gorgeous i'm trying to
decide which is my favorite rose and this one here it looks very healthy
it's for the allotment i've got some space i've got about 20 i think the next video that i'm going
to do will be of the allotment i think i've got about 20 roses there at the moment um this one
here is the other one the churchill rose whenever i come here it's always always gorgeous it really
that's gorgeous and fragrant see that color there i need more of this color
in my garden let alone the allotment you know softer sort of colors like this churchill rose
this could be my favorite on the day you know this really could be my favorite on the day
it always draws me in the churchill rose very nice we'll continue to look around
right i can remember looking at these roses last year and this has to be again it's one of my
favorites for this year it is slightly confusing i mean look at that packed packed packed with
petals a nice fragrance um there's a sign that says pink martini hybrid tea
and look it's growing like a grandiflora but that's just a gorgeous a gorgeous flower and
then the rose next to it i think is the same rose or at least very similar again it's got a lovely
lovely fragrance and the name at the bottom of that one is chloe rose chloe hybrid tea
but that i really like that a soft sort of pink just slight coral color to it i really really
like that and there's new growth coming through it's like strong growth that's coming up from
a nice fragrance oh decisions decisions what one am i going to walk away
with this is a rose that i very nearly got it's louise only air um if i didn't want
another strong sort of pink um i probably would have got this but that's got a lovely
a lovely scent it really has but i don't want anything more so old in color
this here is a rose bell du jour and if you follow the channel you'll know that i
featured this in my last video and i've just put my nose to it it is gorgeous
and even though i didn't see this in the garden that is just gorgeous they say vanilla is the
fragrance but that is good i can't not buy this rose i can't not buy it bell du jour was rose of
the year and um you know what i'm gonna take this one here that's closest to me it's got plenty of
buds on it let's lift it up oh look at that yeah boom we're gonna get this one we might even get
another one but we're definitely gonna buy this one right well here we go this was my favorite
rose on the day and it is the churchill rose it's a modern shrub bred by peter bills and i've seen
it several times now in people's gardens and before peter bills and um it's always done very
well it's similar to rose courage i guess very similar in color at least but this one has got
a better fragrance it's described as light fragrance grows to 1.2 meters tall apparently
there's some flowers here i've just started to go over but look it's the same thing in flower
buds about to open and new new buds coming through now i was only going to get one rose
and when i saw this rose it's rose bell du jour a floribunda bred by delbard if you saw my last
video i really liked this flower it's a yellow but just with a pink tinge to it which i think
makes it and it's its fragrance i think is gorgeous strong fragrance described as vanilla
and again it's the same thing in flower flowers going over buds about to open and new growth
coming through a floribunda that likes to repeat it grows to 1.2 meters tall i'm so pleased with
this rose i mean look at it look at the quality of that rose now i was going to get the churchill
rose but when i left peterbill's there was only two um the churchill rose on the shelf
and neither of them were particularly good quality so i decided to go for rose bell du jour
paid for it and then as i was leaving to go to the car park i saw this another magnificent example
from peterbill's i saw this it was in display stand and um i asked the lady if it was for sale
and she said yes so i decided to get it so this was my favorite rose on the day
the churchill rose and i've done this before you know i go to these places and i buy the
the best rose on the day but i've learned that sometimes those roses the days can be few and
far between whereas this rose it's always attracted me always taken my eye so these
are both going to the allotment there's plenty of space there at the moment there's a lot of dirt
so we need to get planting and i think these will do i'm hoping they will do very well there
so there you go the churchill rose from peterbill's and bell du jour from
delbard what lovely viewer i hope you have a lovely day
