Additionally, the speaker advocates for ensuring that local Kentucky farmers, particularly those within LLCs, are prioritized and given preference in the application process for hemp licenses.
With what the process that is taking place right now, I feel that the governor's decision
to roll back this so far as allowing these patients who desperately need this help
to be able to go out of state, you're leaning to guide them toward the streets and purchasing
something illegal because of the cost. So we do want to be very cautious about that.
And I do not believe, and I'm going to speak for Representative Diven, I did not hear him say
eliminate this program. I think what he's saying is make sure our Kentucky farmers are actually
involved because I've continuously come back and my question is, of these applications
in this process, how many of even you are able to see with the LLCs, the individuals that are
part of those LLCs, I want to know how many of our Kentucky farmers who I know are part of the LLCs
who have hemp license, who are the ones that I trust most to do this and have the most faith in,
were the ones that got the ability and I wanted to make sure they had some preference in
getting these applications through.
