A solo female motorcyclist travels through Iraqi Kurdistan toward Baghdad, navigating visa uncertainties and unpredictable weather. Despite warnings about safety in Baghdad, she remains optimistic, enjoying the stunning mountain landscapes and the hospitality of locals and fellow bikers as she makes her way to Sulaymaniyah.
I'm so cold right now and I'm actually a bit scared.
Okay, I got goosebumps. I slept so good this night. I've been exhausted, so exhausted, but
a good bed and everything is basically sold. The only thing is that my friend read at the
passport stamp that said that I only had 10 days in Iraq. It's 10 days, but usually you have it
for two months when you get the federal visa, so I'm not sure what's happening there. So I decided
to go down to Baghdad and try to figure out what's going on. If I can't change it or extend
it to two months, I'll just go out. But we will see. We will see. For you who are new to this
channel, I have been struggling a little bit to continue my journey from the Iraqi Kurdistan area
to the federal Iraq. But check my previous videos and you will understand what happened.
But for now, let's go. All right, let's go. Tusen takk! Tusen takk! Hej då!
Okay, I will follow Göran here in the front and we're going to go and clean my bike
because she's so dirty. Tarek need a wash before we head south to Sulaymaniyah.
It's the next city, next stop for me. And sorry, good morning all my beautiful people. I hope you're
doing well. Let the adventure continue. We're gonna wash my baby. She's gotta be washed.
Okay, let's wash Tarek.
Perfect. Hello everyone, this is Göran. He helped me so much here. He's a really,
really, really good guy. Now he's paying for my wash for Tarek as well.
Okay, let's go. Tusen takk! Tusen takk! Hej då! Ja. Okay, we have Tarek washed. Yay, yay, yay.
And Göran was so nice to pay for my washes while he didn't have to do that.
But I am so happy she's washed and clean because I've seen her so many days now. I was like, oh,
I need to wash her. But I had no time, you know, with all the visa stuff. But now, finally,
all good. See, I'm gonna follow this road for a little bit and then we're gonna continue towards,
I think it's the Dukon Lake over there. I will do a little stop and have a look at the beautiful
lake there. Maybe have a lunch if they have something there. Yeah, so I'm heading towards
Baghdad, following the Kurdistan area. And I'm from Sulaimaniya. I go to Baghdad.
But you know, everyone is scaring me so much with Baghdad. They're telling me it's so dangerous down
there. I will get kidnapped if I'm not careful. People will hurt me. You know, it's a lot of things.
But in the same way, I have so many friends traveling there right now.
They're actually doing this kind of trip. They go in with motorcycles. They go in with cars.
And no one had an issue. So it shouldn't be a problem. I'm sure about that.
Not a problem at all. Have a look at that.
All my horses! Oh, I can breathe again. Bummer! It's apparently flooded back there.
So the checkpoint said, no, no, no, no, no, you can't go there. Turn around, go to Koya,
and continue from there. Oh, I really wanted that place, but yeah, can't go when it's flooded.
For the best, I want to go there and go around the lake in another direction. Let's go!
Amazing, they are actually picking up the garbage, like an organization here.
Oh yeah, so good. I wish I could help them somehow. Here we are and my clean bike, Sarek!
It's a really nice little camping spot or like a rest place.
Oh, the weather is fantastic.
Ah, a little, little break. Just enjoy the sun a little bit, because in the air it's pretty cool,
but in the sun it's so warm. Yeah, but great views. Oh my god, Iraqi-Kurdistan mountains.
Bam! Not expected that, not expected that at all. It is fantastic.
Okay, five minutes break, then I'm going to Koya, and I'm basically just going to pass Koya and
cross my fingers that I can go to Lake Dukon. And another checkpoint. I had like maybe three
of them right now. So yeah, I got my passport back. I don't like when I take it and go somewhere
with it. Okay, let's continue. This is Konya. I will just pass here and continue directly to
Dukon Lake. And I'm going right to the right here.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Look at this view. Pretty spicy. Yeah, we have an eagle up there.
Here comes a little river from the Dukon Lake. Oops, the way is...
They're repairing it, that's good.
It is amazing here! Wow!
What a day. He's so cute. What was that? I never pictured Kurdistan-Iraq like this.
Never ever in my life I thought it would be this beautiful up in the mountains here.
I'm speechless. I didn't see that much of the lake though, but I don't mind because this road is
fantastic. Fantastic. I'm having such a good time. People are hanging out from their cars and the
trucks are waving towards me. That's so cute.
Pretty sure we have a lot of rain coming up there.
Okay, and I can see the road up on the mountain up there.
So amazing. Yep, I will take my rain gear on.
To go to Sully, I could take the main way or I can take the smaller road.
So what do you think I chose? Smaller road, but in pretty bad shape some parts, but the views,
again, mind-blowing. Just waiting a little bit for the rain, so I prepared with rain gears on,
but I'm sure it will hit soon. Over there you can see the white coat is on,
filled with snow on the top of the mountain. You can probably ski up there if you want to.
I forgot to eat and I don't think there'll be any restaurants on this road, I'm pretty sure.
That's okay, because I always have emergency food with me in case I get really hungry or if I get
stuck somewhere. I always have, like this is a military bar basically, with a lot of proteins
and I always have some noodles and some very light stuff with me in case it happens.
I don't think the rain will hit me. I think I actually escaped the rain.
It's up there. Guys, I can see so much lightning up there.
You gotta accept it. Oh, I can hear the boom. Geez.
I don't know if you can hear the thunder, but I don't have so much left until I'm in Sully,
like maybe 10 kilometers. Yeah, I'm just hanging here a little bit to wait for the thunder to pass
and then I can continue, but I have shelter at least.
Sarek is there. I don't know if this is a private property or something, but it looks,
I don't know what it is, it looks scary. Sorry, but yes,
I think this is really weather as well. Everything looks good.
Okay, I got goosebumps. That was just above my head.
I'm so cold right now and I'm actually a bit scared because it's happening a lot here
and it makes me think as well, like all this lightning and yeah, people advise me not to stay
in small tiny villages alone as a solo female, so I have so many thoughts in my mind right now.
What should I do? What should I do? I don't know. Should I go? Should I stay?
That's so good to do that when you're cold. Warm up a little bit. Finally, look at this
blue sky and I'm just going on the mountain and down and there is Sully.
So I'm gonna pack up and go because it's no more thunder. It stopped and the rain stopped.
It's like 20% raining, so it's okay. Oh, so glad I made it out of that thunderstorm.
All righty, I'm going to my friend's house now. So that's the plan. Sleep there for tonight
and tomorrow I will see a little bit what I do. Perhaps I go to Kirkuk and stay there
for a night. I haven't decided yet. Hi. Hi. Oh, eating lovely dinner here with these guys.
You're amazing, okay?
How are you doing?
I'm gonna go for a tour with these guys.
Super cool. They're super kind. This is the first time I ride with another bikers here
on this trip. That's so cool. They're crazy.
Street food deluxe. Thought so. Yeah, man. Cool guy. Yeah, awesome.
Oh, look at this.
Oh my lord. This is so cool. Strawberry, strawberry, banana. Fruit sweets. Oh, veggies.
I don't know if I ever said it, but I love riding motorcycle. I guess you understood it,
but you just had to express it as well.
Oh yeah, it's so fun. Riding with others as well is so much fun.
Hanging out here.
