"Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien" 🇯🇵⛸️ Sakamoto Kaori Skating to Édith Piaf

The extraordinary career of Sakamoto Kari, which she said would conclude following these Olympic Winter Games. The short program was time to say goodbye. The free skate is an Edith Piaf medley, a very deliberate conclusion, because whatever happens, she regrets nothing. The best double axel. Triple Lutz, double toe, all to plan. Every stroke has power. Salchow, smooth. The second triple flip by itself. Double axel, triple toe, double toe, free jump combination. The ice coverage. No one can cover it like she does. Triple loop. There's a line in the song, with my memories, I lit the fire. My sorrows, my pleasures, I no longer need them. Sakamoto Kari, if you don't mind, we'll just hold on to those memories a little bit longer. Thank you. The excellence of figure skating should always be celebrated by saying this woman's name, Sakamoto Kari. There's that tiny little piece of disappointment and emotion. She greets her coach from when she was a child. Sonoko Nakano. The issue is for Sakamoto Kari from Japan, a three time world champion and beloved in the sport for the person that she is. But this is the best double axel ever in women's skating. For the triple loops, you can see the airtime that it's had and how high it is. Here is the flip. A little bit of movement on the left foot of the takeoff of that. Magnificent height. But watching this program move across the ice, if you had to measure it in meters, it probably has more mileage. It's almost a tautology than any other skater. Has the most meterage then or it has the most mileage depending on where you live. Jumps can't be repeated. Triple jumps can't be repeated without being in combination. So that's what's going to create the issue in the scoring. I don't think it takes away from the performance of what we witnessed. What a joy to have watched her career. Coaches are doing the finishing position with her. Sakamoto, Kari, Alyssa Liu have so much respect for each other. At the close of the last world championships, when she won the title, they embraced pride. Liu said she thinks Sakamoto is the greatest of all time. This could be close. Second place, 224.9. She has a medal by a very small margin. Alyssa Liu, not quite two points, holds on. She wins at least silver.
