Social Media will Destroy you - David Goggins

I hate ******* social media. In 2013, people wanted me to write my book. I did it in 2018, took five years. And the reason why I didn't do it, I set a table and Jennifer was there, this before I, she started working for me. I started dating or whatever and all these people were there and they're like, man, you got to go on social media. And I was like, **** you, man. Like I'm not, that's, it's poison. It's poison because I knew what I did to get where I am and I'm going to have these people, these normal everyday people, fat, lazy, it's exactly who I was judging me because I know it because I was once them. All my hard work, all my dedication, I'm going to have some normal dude get his little brownies, little ding-dong, ho-ho, Twinkie, sit there with his coffee, picking me apart. Oh, he must be unhappy. He's just, do you know how hard it is to put these shoes on every damn morning and I'm going to have you pick me apart? So, yeah, there's, there's, there's so much that goes into this that I was like, **** this. I never want anything to do with it. Unreal how much time you waste during the day and most of it is on these ******* computers, phones, you know, Instagramming back and forth, whatever the **** you call that ---- nowadays, tweeting and texting and ----. We waste so much time on our little gadgets. It's unreal and we talk but we have no time. If you really take, you have to take your day and write, write down this one day. Everything you do, write that down and you're like, my God, I am wasting so much time on frivolous bullshit. It's not even funny. I mean, it will, it will, if it doesn't infuriate you, it should because there's so much time. I can't get it in. Look at your schedule. You just wasted seven hours a day on bullshit. I mean, you don't have an hour a day to try to get something in for yourself. I guarantee everybody can find an hour. So when I tell people, hey, stop listening to music for a little bit, put your ******* phone down. Yeah, put the computer down. Really focus the, the most powerful weapon is your brain. It relates to the, you know, they're like, oh man. Yeah, you know, we weren't raised on this ----. They can kind of go back in the dungeon, but these Millennials grew up with all this technology. Yeah. And all this noise is so ******* noisy out here that they can't hear themselves think. Yeah. So the people who really get the most bang out of my message, even though Millennials follow me the most. Yeah. Are people who are from 30s to 50s because they're like, you know what, man? Yeah, I ******* get that. And I suggest, yes, I'm on social media on a very limited basis because I have a story to tell and it's a great platform. Use it as a platform. Don't use it as your life. My biggest advice to give everybody in the world is like I say, we live in an external world. Everything is, you got to see it, touch it. It's external. If you can for the rest of your life, live inside of yourself. Stop listening to people who are calling you fat, gay, transsexual, black. Everything that is makes no sense. All these insecure people putting their insecurities on you. You got to flush it out. You got to just be whoever the hell God or whoever the hell you believe in. If you believe in nothing but yourself, I don't care what it is. You got to take everything and throw it away. You have to believe in one thing and that is yourself. You know, if you're on social media running your ******* mouth and ----, you're just a bitch. Correct. Honestly, that's not me trying to be some after-school special ----. You really are a bitch. Real men ain't doing it. Real men don't care about that gossipy bullshit. Get to work, man.
