Video Summary
AI GeneratedLarry Jones discusses the current stock market downturn, explaining that while dismal jobs data typically signals a potential market rise due to expectations of Fed inflation control, the current dip is actually driven by a massive sell-off in technology, AI, and semiconductor stocks. He analyzes specific ETFs and stocks, sharing his \"nibbling\" strategy for long-term entries and demonstrating his recent profits from options trading.
Hey, hey, what's up, good people?
How you doing?
Welcome back to Stock Up with Larry Jones.
Hit that like, subscribe, and notification bell
like you guys have been doing.
It is greatly appreciated.
It is the small thing that you could do.
Don't fall for any spam in the comment section.
And lastly, anything I say is not a suggestion
for you to buy, hold, or sell, okay?
Let's get right into it.
We had the job data.
And you saw, I had a red thumbnail on yesterday,
meaning it could come down.
But the jobs is not why the market is down today.
Actually, the job numbers came in a dismal
and that would have potentially been good
for the stock market.
So here's what's going on to be fully transparent, right?
So let's go to the jobless number, all right?
The jobs data, should I say.
The U.S. economy added 57,000 jobs in June,
significantly missing the 110,000 to 115,000
that was expected by economists, okay?
The unemployment rate expectedly ticked down to 4.2,
though this was partly driven by shrinking labor force, okay?
So you could see the numbers, gains driven primarily
by private education and health services added 69,000 jobs.
You can see here, 46,600 in healthcare
and social assistance.
You could see the losses, leisure and hospitality, 61,000.
We got the revisions here.
So this data shows that the market actually
should have been actually green right now.
Why would it be green on bad data?
Because the only way right now, okay?
I said the only way, but that's not the only way.
One of the major ways for the Fed to get control
of inflation is a weakening job, okay?
We have to take the money out of our hands
so we don't spend to further increase inflation, follow?
So low demand will cause inflation to come down.
But as you could see, we had less jobs,
which means that the stock market should have been green,
but that is not happening.
The question is, what is happening?
So let me find what is happening for you guys.
Here it is.
The stock market is highly divided.
Let's go up into the NASDAQ to S&P,
sliding due to an aggressive sell-off
in technology and semiconductor stock.
Despite the Dow industry average,
of course we keep hitting record highs, right?
The semiconductor and AI connection, all right?
Profit-taking.
Investors are heavily rotating out of semiconductors
and artificial intelligence infrastructure giants
that experienced massive rallies
in the first half of the year.
So the tech, AI, and semiconductors,
the chips are going through a massive sell-off
because there are fears now.
Fear, overheating concerns.
Market participants are increasingly worried
that the valuation metrics climbed too fast
amid the AI frenzy.
And this is what we've been talking about.
And this is one of the reasons why
I know we have earnings coming,
but I keep saying that the market's frothy,
it's too expensive, and that's what's happening.
What is crazy about this is,
and I keep saying it's laughable,
the very people that keep saying,
we gotta spend more, we gotta beat China,
we gotta spend more, spend more, spend more,
then they go, oh, it's fears.
Now we spent too much.
They're gonna come back to spending more.
Mark my words.
Now, the question is, is it a buying opportunity?
Well, you gotta be careful, like I said on yesterday,
with these ETFs like SOXL, all right?
SOXL right now is down by 21%.
And I told my money movers
that I was gonna be nibbling under 180, right?
I believe I told them 180, okay?
Even 190, I started nibbling, under 190, okay?
And right now, it's 170, down 21%
for the week, we're down 24%.
For the month, we're down, you might as well say 36%, okay?
So this is what I was saying.
It is a Direction Daily Semiconductor Bull 3X ETF,
meaning every point it comes down,
this ETF comes down three points.
Now, there is a reverse 3X of this.
This, if you don't know what you're doing,
is absolutely pure gamble.
So look at this.
You're going to see a complete inversion.
You see that?
Okay, 21% down, okay, 21% up.
And here it is right here.
It is ticker symbol S-O-X-S, right?
Now, this is like doing options minus the theta,
though, if you really look into this,
there is some sort of theta that's going on.
And if you don't know how to trade
or you don't understand a leverage place,
then you should not be in it.
Now, let's go to something else I expect
to be down also, and that's ticker symbol DRAM, okay?
You guys know that that ETF is down now, of course,
eight point, let's just call that 9%.
DRAM was down by 9%.
The question is, is this too much, too quick?
Is it too much, too quick?
So I'm going to put DRAM under here.
I'm going to put Micron, which I believe,
believe it or not, still has upward room,
but right now when the semiconductors get hit,
it gets hit also, and it's down.
Look at this price, it was just 1200 bucks.
Now it's 953, look at that.
That's almost, that's a $250 drop from the high
just in a week, and that is what happens
with these semiconductors, okay?
And it's just risky, it's just like quantum computing,
which I imagine is down.
We might as well take a look at those.
And here they are, they are all down.
Look at that, down, down, down.
Let's check the week out.
You could see that they are all down
with the exception of D-Wave for the week.
Let's go to the month, and you could see
that they are down greatly for the month.
And are there some buying opportunities in here?
You bet, but just like the money movers,
I keep using the term nibble.
When I say nibble, Larry is saving the greater portion
of money to be spent in these stocks.
I save them for later.
For those of you that just buy every dip
and front-end every dip and put your bigger amount
of money in, you'll still be okay in the long run,
I believe, I just, I'm very patient
because I'm used to these markets.
And lastly, we got eight minutes.
Let's just take a look.
I made some money today trading the SPY
with the Traffic Trader as she's coming down.
So literally, while I'm making this video,
I could have been making money, right?
So here we have it on the two-minute, okay?
When it's choppy, we trade the five-minute.
You'll notice that on the five-minute,
you're gonna have less candles on the five-minute.
The two-minute, we follow and we try to see
if we're printing beneath the nine EMA,
which is this dotted line, or above.
So just like slow traffic is in the right lane,
we're heading down.
And we have a crossover right here on the MACD, boom,
and the RSI going down.
And so the Qs are going down, all right?
So let me show you guys this, okay?
So what I'm telling you in this is
I am buying a little ticker symbol, S-O-X-L,
and I am nibbling on some DRAM,
and I'm nibbling a little bit on some micron,
just a little bit, because I just like nibbling
for the long-term in this space.
Now, remember, this is not get like me.
Anything I say is not a suggestion
for you to buy, hold, or sell.
I'm just sharing with you what I'm nibbling on.
So this is what I did today in an hour of trading.
I got in, I took a Tesla call, as you could see,
got cashed out around 40%,
and walked away with $1,000 here.
Look at that, 39.40%.
Of course, by the time I checked out, it moved, okay?
And I did that by just getting in right here.
I got in on that bottom candle,
and then got out at that top candle.
Just that small of move gave me this type of profit, okay?
Then I came back in and did a put on the Qs,
made another 34%, and that's what happened with that.
You could see here, I give these levels
before the market opens,
and my traders are absolutely killing it today
as we roll this down, okay?
Even without me being on live trading,
they were printing a lot of money,
and here I am, my P&L, just a four today
after I got out of the position.
So a quick $2,000 with options in about an hour
as I was feeding the money movers, okay?
Of course, guys, you know, tomorrow,
the market is closed and observant of the 4th of July.
Okay, you guys be safe.
You do you.
You know you can buy after.
Can this market go down even deeper?
Yes.
Do I expect this summer to be choppy like I've been saying?
Yes, but we could temporarily be bottoming out
a little bit right now.
We're going to see what happens.
Now, the market generally needs 48 hours to decipher
after data is put out like it was today,
but I believe this one will get baked in,
and by Monday, we'll be back to a normal session,
which we will see you then.
