Sky News contributor Kosha Gada reacts to US President Donald Trump contacting FIFA over a red card given to a star on the US football team.

“With different leaders weighing in, we saw the South Koreans weigh in and almost riot last week.”

President Trump marked America's 250th birthday with a late-night National Mall
address after storms and lightning delayed the celebration. He told crowds
to be on the watch for the dangers of communism. Have a listen.
You can be loyal to Karl Marx or you can be loyal to America. You can be a
communist or you can be a patriot. You cannot be both. As for those who peddle
Marx's lies about our heritage, who tell our children that we live on stolen land
or that our heroes were oppressors, they're doing something much worse than
slandering our past. They are slandering and attacking our future. Not gonna let
that happen. Whatever you think of Trump, Kosha, this was Trump at his most
unapologetically patriotic, wasn't it? Mm-hmm. That is really when he's at his
best. And I always say that if you are somebody who, if you are American and
you love America, it actually is the easiest topic in the world to give an
uplifting public speech on. You know, you can go the Mamdani route like we just
talked about and there's enough of that for sure and there's a market for that.
But this, you know, the story of America, you can talk about victory, you can talk
about valor, you can talk about aspiration, you can talk about
innovation, you can talk about how it, how consequential it has been. And that sort
of writes itself and then on top of that you layer on Trump's particular brand. He
loves to talk about winners and how America is a nation of winners and we
will be unapologetic. It just adds an extra layer to it and it's really funny
because the only reason that the 250th anniversary is taking place under his
tenure is because of what happened in 2020. He came back, he ran again and so
now he gets this extra footnote in the history books about the speech and the
fact that he is presiding over the 250th anniversary of the greatest republic
ever known to modern man.
Koshy, we didn't get to Taylor Swift's wedding which
upsets me greatly. I really wanted to talk about that. We'll have to do it next
time. I appreciate you coming on the program tonight. Thanks so much.
