Let's do it. Let's do it. Come on, guys. I get to kick off the 4th of July Zip Trip and we're
down here in Navy Yard. And come on, guys. Everybody excited? I have so much red, white,
and blue behind me. We're getting into the spirit. Can't wait. Okay, we got an important interview.
We got to tell you why you got to come down to Navy Yard. And I've got a Mecca Monomane. Did I
get it right? That's right. And you are the BID president here at Navy Yard, right? Yeah,
the Business Improvement District. We help make this neighborhood a fun place to live,
come enjoy, and play. And it pretty much sells itself at this point. But for those of you that
are new to the Navy Yard, don't come down here too frequently. I think it's best known probably
for sports, right? For the Nationals. And we got DC United and the Spirit down here. 100%. A lot
of sports, right? Yeah, we like to say Navy Yard is where DC comes to play, right? People come down
to watch the Nats play. They come to watch the Spirit, DC United play. But there's more that
you can do when you get here. Great restaurants. We have this lovely waterfront park where you come
hang out, including this Friday. We have a concert series going on this Friday evening. We want to
have you come down, bring your water, come and enjoy some time with your family. Okay, and is
that concert series all summer long? It is. Yeah, we do it every Friday during the summer. Eight
dates all the way through to the end of the July. Do you give the musicians extra water breaks? Do
they get hydration breaks like in World Cup soccer? Yeah, we're in negotiations about that.
Okay, yeah, I get it. I get it. All right, Navy Yard. So I've lived in the DC area my entire life.
This was, at one time, a pretty quiet place. It's really hustling and bustling these days.
What's new down here for those of those that haven't visited recently? Yeah, so I think
everybody knows that they come down here for sports. There's so much more. I mean, you can walk
a few blocks and then you're here in this lovely waterfront park. We have neighborhoods with lots
of great multi-family housing, restaurants, bars on the water down by just south of the baseball
stadium, as well as in Buzzard Point. The area is just south of that Audi Field. As far as just
enjoying the serene beauty of this region, right on the river, right? And you've got walking paths
that go up and down on both sides. Yeah, we've got the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail that connects
Navy Yard, this area, to Buzzard Point down by the soccer stadium. And really, one of the best
ways to experience the neighborhood is to actually take a weekend trip and live it like you live in
the neighborhood. Come on a Thursday, we have movies showing in different parts of the neighborhood.
Stay for a concert on Friday. We have our Farmer's Market on Saturday on App Street. Love it. You can
stay for a festival that may be happening during Saturday afternoon. You can really make a whole
weekend of experience here in Navy Yard. So I don't want to put pressure on you, but if you had an afternoon
to spend here, how would you spend it? Well, so we're actually one of my favorite places. I love to
come here on a Friday afternoon with a cool beverage of alcoholic or non-alcoholic type,
and just put my feet up and look at the water. I take door number one. Yeah, do the water. Okay,
I cannot let you go. This is going to be awkward, but we're going to figure out how to do this,
because you are representing for the 4th of July. Can we get a camera on this man's shoes,
and we can kind of walk through what we got going on here? Is there some way we can do that?
We'll make him stand up if we have to. Show his shoes, yeah. Okay, tell everybody at home what we're
looking at right here. So these are shoes gifted to me by Destination DC, the tourism board for
the city. On one side, we've got a metro map. Yeah. On the other side, we've got the Navy Yard
bid brand. Wait, wait, we've got to show that. Nope. There we go. You've got Navy Yard on the
other side. So I'm number three. We've got DC United. Keep showing this. This is good stuff.
Okay, we've got DC United represented. And then we've got the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge.
Come on, is that amazing or what? A true DC fan.
Those are going to become collector's editions. Yeah, bidding starts at...
Whatever he said today. Amazing. Okay, for more information, people want to come down and visit,
but they want to know about the newest restaurants down here, and the concerts,
and the rest of it. Where can they find you? Yeah, check us out at navyyarddc.org. That's
our website, and you can find our handle there as well. There's your information. Thank you
so much for getting up early and joining me in this heat. Thank you, Tucker. Thanks for coming
out. Now, before we move on, I want to show everybody the seven-day forecast, because I
know you're running out the door, and you're wondering why I look so good. Well, it's because
we're in the shade. We're in the shade. Yeah, we're in the shade. You want to be in the shade
later today. There's an excessive heat warning, 104. Hey, I want to throw it out there. There
could be a couple of thunderstorms this afternoon. Look for those. Get that Fox Local radar going.
And again, tomorrow afternoon, both days could be record-breaking heat. We hit a record yesterday at
102. We're likely to keep that streak going through Saturday and get a little better by early
next week. Thank you so much for joining me. Love your shoes. Love the Navy Yard. Thank you,
Tucker. Thanks for coming out. Let's make it a great Fourth of July weekend. All right,
I'll toss it back inside. Tucker, you know, I think I can see it right now. You get a pair of
those shoes. You get my face on one side, and you get Annie Mae's face on another side. You get
Cena's face on a side. These are going to be amazing shoes, Tucker. Ask them all about that,
Steve. We want to know if we can get shoes with our faces on them, different anchors,
and you call Elliot Ferguson at the Destination DC. We'll make a call. All right. Let's go,
Elliot. Hook it up. Perfect. Thank you, Tucker. Appreciate it. And we have a full
morning of zip trip fun coming your way. We'll have more right
