Experts warn Trump is playing politics with US intelligence

It's hard to say right now because we're right at the beginning of this, but as far as downsizing the DNI's office, I think that there might be a case to be made in terms of just maybe making it smaller. I don't believe that the DNI's office has ever kind of achieved its mission in life, which was to sort of streamline the intelligence community and get rid of redundancies and also fill in the gaps that helped cause 9-11. However, having said that, the fact that Pulte is sort of a political operative, if you will, the fact that his deputy is a young woman who also has no experience whatsoever, who is basically an election monitor, I think that this sends a very strong signal of politicization and that it's going to be a sort of off with their heads as long as you toe the administration line, you'll be fine. If not, you'll be gotten rid of. And that is, you do not want to send that signal to people who are basically sometimes risking their lives, but you know, sacrificing and doing really, really important work for the national security of the United States.
