AI GeneratedTaylor Swift has made history as one of the youngest women ever inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. This milestone highlights her enduring legacy, the universal appeal of her songwriting across multiple generations, and the positive, global cultural force of the \"Swiftie\" fandom.
Well, Taylor Swift recently added another milestone to her career with
her induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Today we're talking about
what that means for her legacy, how her lyrics have connected with an entire
generation and how the Swiftie fandom has grown into a global cultural force.
Joining us to break it all down, New York Times bestselling author and
Swiftie expert herself, Olivia Levin joining us now this morning.
Olivia, glad to have you here with us. I also follow your social media
you got all of us Swifties following you along for so much of this.
Glad to have you here with us on Good Day DC.
Yeah, thanks for having me.
So let's talk a little bit about this milestone.
Taylor Swift being entered into the Songwriter Hall of Fame,
the youngest woman, I do believe so, to ever be inducted.
What does this mean for her legacy?
Oh, I mean, it's a huge deal. The Swifties have been so supportive.
We've been rooting for her for 20 years. So yeah, as you said,
she made history as the youngest woman ever to be inducted.
I believe the youngest person was Stevie Wonder at age 32.
So Taylor follows right behind him at age 36.
And it's a very full circle year for her in many different ways.
Absolutely.
Let's talk a little bit about, I guess, the progression of her,
this entire generation of fans, many of them more so our age.
But, you know, we've kind of grown up with her.
We've gone through life experiences.
And I think for the Swifties, that's why so many of us can relate to her.
But what I've also found interesting is some of the younger generations
of people that are really flocking to her and just loving her music.
Is that more so, you think, because of the older generations
teaching the ways, I guess you will, if you will?
Or is it more so that she's just appealing to that many folks?
I think it's a combination of both.
I mean, the re-recordings were a huge part of
hitting other younger generations and all the older generations.
I think she's got every generation generation paying attention to her right now.
I think the Aerosaur had a lot to do with that.
But above all, I think it's really her vulnerability and her honesty
and her relatability in her songwriting.
It's never changed for the last 20 years.
And I think a lot of people just resonate with that no matter the age.
Do you think some of those Easter eggs that she puts in songs, whatever it may be,
that kind of adds to all of the fandom, if you will,
throughout it and really just keeps it going, I feel like?
It does.
It makes it fun.
I mean, what's cool is she doesn't have to do the Easter eggs anymore,
but she does it because it's such a big part of our fandom.
I talk a lot about it in my book that I wrote, The Story of Us,
where it makes every album release even more exciting.
And she's never stopped doing it.
So I don't think she ever will.
Right.
I feel like you're constantly decoding puzzles and whatnot
whenever it comes to whatever she puts out.
Look, there's a lot of people out there.
They are sick of hearing about Taylor Swift.
They're kind of over it.
They think us Swifties, we can be a little bit crazy.
What would you say to them in regards to why she is who she is,
why she has such the fandom that she has?
I mean, I think it's a testament to who she is as a person.
You know, the fandom, the type of fandom that she's been able to cultivate.
I always say if you're in a room full of Swifties,
you're probably in the happiest, safest room in the world
because everyone is so nice.
And I think, you know,
no other person could have cultivated such a positive environment.
And I don't think there's any reason to hate on something
that brings so many people around the world joy.
You know, it's the same type of thing as people
who come together supporting a sports team.
Right.
And she genuinely, mind you, I don't know the woman from Adam,
but, you know, she genuinely does seem like she is a very nice human.
And I think a lot of that really resonates with folks as well.
Let's talk a little bit of obviously about this huge milestone
with her wedding to Travis Kelsey.
Some people kind of wondering, OK, well, now what is she going to write about?
I don't think she's going to have a hard time finding new things to write about.
I mean, I'm looking forward to all of the new love songs that we're going to get.
But we've seen her what she's done in folklore.
She's taken other people's stories and written about those.
And, you know, she'll watch movies and get inspired and write about the characters.
So I don't think there's any shortage of what she can write about.
And she's so multifaceted.
She'll have no trouble.
Right.
And, you know, I think for people like me, you know, I had the young heartbreak,
the first crushes, and now I am married, you know, a year in.
And so some of those songs that she released in her latest album
really resonated with me throughout.
Again, another moment in that.
Let me ask you, since I have you here, there's been speculation,
there's been theory that she's going to release a documentary of the wedding,
or we're all just kind of trying to put together bits and pieces
of what nobody knows anything about.
What can you tell us?
I can't imagine she would release the wedding footage as a documentary.
Maybe one day she writes the greatest love song ever, which I'm sure she will.
In a music video, I could see some of the wedding footage being, you know, put up there.
But I can't imagine she'll officially release her wedding on Disney Plus or something like that.
I do hope we get photos, though.
And I think that's something the fans have been waiting for.
And I think that's possible very soon.
Maybe even today.
Right.
Fingers crossed.
We will have to see.
Olivia, where can people follow along with you?
