On this very humid Thursday,
parts of Long Island getting some
of those showers and downpours.
We've been talking about the
possibility for today and really
just hugging the South Shore beaches
over towards Long Beach Point.
Look out out to Gilgo and Robert Moses
looking at some moderate to heavy rain
just right along the shoreline there.
Earlier there were a few lightning
flashes over the Atlantic Ocean.
That's no longer the case,
but I do want to widen things
out a little bit for you.
We've actually been missing out on
the worst weather this afternoon.
That's off to our South and West.
I'll keep an eye on that.
Heavy, slow moving thunderstorm for you,
but in parts of New Jersey,
you've been getting really,
really hit hard as that kind
of approaches Long Island.
There will continue to be some
weakening to that,
and so that's why you can
almost see here on radar.
These showers kind of putting on
the brakes in central Suffolk County.
We expect that weakening trend
as these try to move eastward
across Long Island to continue.
To happen,
but from this point through early evening,
you can run into a shower and isolated
downpour with a rumble of thunder.
That's possible through around
6 or 7 o'clock,
but we are not expecting too much of
any intense weather here on Long Island,
but you might have to slow it down from
time to time with a brief downpour.
Temperatures middle and upper 70s.
That is it,
but it's the humidity that you feel
instantly so tropical feeling outside,
and it's in part all that humidity
that's helping to spark off some
of these showers and isolated downpours.
Bit breezy to with the gusts to
around 20 mph or so.
So temperatures today upper 70s,
maybe some lower 80s showers.
Can't rule out an isolated thunderstorm,
but otherwise a downpour in
Nassau and Western Suffolk.
It'll be dry this evening and overnight
after around 7 o'clock and then
looking ahead here into the weekend.
Can't rule out a shower or thunderstorm
on a hot and humid day tomorrow.
The weekend through most of next week,
looking mostly dry but hot back
in the 90s next Wednesday.
