Philadelphia, we are uncut.
All right, Philadelphia, what's going on, everybody?
It is your old buddy, Hank.
Welcome to Uncut.
Time for a little bit of 1130.
Crazy cell phone TV without a net ad.
Right now down at the Swanson Street Ledge in South Philadelphia.
If you know the box office, you absolutely know it.
2300 Arena, one of the great soul headquarters of professional wrestling.
It's not exactly what's going on in here today.
What we got going on today in the sneak preview style of the show,
we'd love to show you something a little bit before it's time for the iconic sporting events
card show is in here all weekend long, starting today at I think three or four o'clock.
You get to see it right now at 1130, guys.
Let's go ahead on in.
I've already spoken with a couple of the vendors who are right now getting themselves set up.
You can see guys working around tables over here.
All these different card vendors work in different ways.
Some of them specialize in things that others don't.
Some specialize in older cards.
And being that we have Philadelphia All-Star Baseball this weekend,
you knew things like this were going to pop up here in town.
You certainly got the FanFest over at the convention center,
but you knew things like this were going to be here and be a big,
big part of it as people get themselves set up.
I'm going to go over here to the gentleman from Barrington, New Jersey.
Mark, thank you for making a little time for us.
And he's one of the most interesting people here.
Mark, introduce yourself, if you would.
My name is Mark Franklin.
I own a company called Prestige Pulls.
And here we are.
Pleasure to see you.
Thank you for making time for us, Mark.
I appreciate it.
You walk right up to Mark's table, guys, and it's really quite clear what he's got.
There's nothing but number 23 in here.
You can call out your LeBrons all you want to.
In my book, I'm 57 years old, and I'm from North Carolina.
This is the greatest man that ever played the game of basketball.
And I'll argue with anybody about it.
Rest of the world doesn't mind arguing about it either.
I mean, Jordan's always going to be Jordan.
That's why we say things like the Michael Jordan of shoe salesman,
the Michael Jordan of roof work.
If you're the greatest, you're the Jordan of it.
He's the epitome of the GOAT.
The epitome of the GOAT.
What have you got here at this card show that jumps out?
All of these, I'm guessing, are really valuable.
Tell me about them.
I mean, most of these range anywhere from $1,000 to $20,000.
You know, the main piece here is obviously your iconic 1986
FLIR Michael Jordan rookie card.
This is in a PSA 8 grade.
Last couple sales on this card range anywhere from $20,000 to $22,000.
So this is the biggest card in this case.
Obviously, everybody knows this card.
Who doesn't even know sports cards, you recognize this card
because this is Michael Jordan's rookie card, 1986 FLIR.
All right, Mark, give us a quick trainer on the PSA 8, the grading system.
The number, that's an eight out of what?
The grading system ranges anywhere from $1,000 to $10,000.
PSA rating is all about the surface, the edges,
the corners, and the centering of the print of the card.
Sure.
So, you know, you never know.
You could actually pull a card out of a pack and it not be a perfect $10,000.
So, you know.
You would think it would come right out of the pack.
Of course.
Right out of the pack, it should be a $10,000.
It's not guaranteed.
Unfortunately, it's not guaranteed.
But, you know, here goes plenty other greats here.
Obviously, Tom Brady rookie card as well.
That's crazy.
Multiple LeBron James rookie card.
That's okay.
Yeah.
Son of a gun.
Because here's Ohtani.
Yep.
Here's Brady, who's a six-round draft pick.
Absolutely.
He was never slated to be a starter.
As a matter of fact, I still don't know.
He never played a game of college football.
And then you got LeBron, who went straight into the NBA directly out of high school.
Absolutely.
He was chosen one, which is tattooed across his back.
Of course.
By the time he was 13 years old.
So, his rookie card.
That's the difference, though.
With Jordan, you got one rookie card.
He was a third overall pick.
You knew Jordan was going to have a good one.
LeBron, they were seeing him coming for years.
Of course.
Brady, it's different.
How do the athletes' individual stories impact what kind of carding they get and what it does
to the market now, 20, 30 years later?
Really, you're building up the hype.
A lot of this market is built on hype.
But these guys, Jordan, Ohtani, LeBron, these guys are established.
So, when it comes to buying their rookie cards, now, obviously, in 2026, it is going to come
in a pretty penny.
But the difference between the Jordan era and the modern era, where LeBron was obviously
founded, there's a lot more rookie cards of these guys now than there was back when Jordan
was a rookie in 1984.
He was a rookie, but his rookie card's 1986.
That's a story for another day.
Well, the holographic on this LeBron, I'm literally tripping my camera out right now.
I keep going back and forth just to make it go off.
This is a LeBron James Top's Finest Rookie Refractor.
So, this is actually limited, as you see on the print here, 12 of 250 copies.
So, there's only 250 copies total of this exact card.
This is actually probably the biggest card in both of my cases.
And it's a LeBron rookie card, and it's one of 250.
So, by its very birth, by its very nature, it's valuable.
Absolutely.
For sure.
This ranges about $25,000 value, this LeBron James card.
Do you expect to sell that this weekend?
Or is part of it, honestly, to just stake your claim here at this particular show and
be like, I'm the guy that's got these things?
No, if I'm setting up, I'm here to buy.
I'm here to sell.
I'm here to trade.
So, if you have any LeBron, you have any Jordan, you have any Kobe, you have any Ohtani,
you have any Brady, I would love to buy them.
And if you're interested in any of my cards, I always tell people, this is not a museum.
All my cards have a price.
If you give me a comfortable price where I'm comfortable selling it, I have no problem
selling these cards.
That's why they're out today.
All right, guys.
He is Mark Franklin from Prestige Pulls Sports Cards.
And what I like about Mark, too, is he's got a unique business model.
He's actually got streaming channels that are up right now.
Absolutely.
Where you can watch him and his people pull cards out.
For sure.
It's almost this wonderful sort of self-generating machine.
For sure.
It's a blessing.
They're creating content that way.
All the time.
But every so often, they're going to yank something that belongs in this case straight
out of there.
Absolutely.
And you've got money at this point to go ahead and buy crates and crates so that they can
continue to pull cards out like that.
Absolutely.
What's your contacts?
What's the best way for people to get a look at that?
What's the best way for people to look online and understand you guys?
Absolutely.
So, my Instagram is markfranklintv.
Obviously, I own Prestige Pulls.
We run 24-7 on an app called Whatnot.
Right.
On that app, we have pages, Prestige Pulls, Prestige Playground, and Prestige Packs that
are live 24-7 opening football, baseball, basketball, Disney, Marvel, Star Wars.
Yeah.
So, it's basically a little taste of everybody.
We haven't jumped in the Pokemon realm yet.
But again, that's a whole world.
It's a whole different TCG place.
Absolutely.
But we open everything under the sun.
So, very blessed.
And sports cards are becoming very mainstream now.
So, there's not really a better time to get in this hobby or industry than right now in
2026.
What I feel like is that it's grown astronomically since I was a kid.
Absolutely.
And I buy a pack of cards now and then.
I was never super into it.
Absolutely.
You never knew who you'd get or why you got it.
Yeah.
But where are we on the growth arc right now?
It's still growing hard.
It's still growing.
Especially on an all-star weekend.
For sure.
Especially in a place like Philly.
Absolutely.
All-star weekend.
I mean, a lot of these cards like Michael Jordan are becoming a supply and demand.
A lot of new people that want to get into this hobby, they want Michael Jordan.
They want Tom Brady.
So, their prices are increasing.
I'll tell you guys, the goats are not coming down anytime soon.
Sure.
When you purchase cards like this, you hold them like a stock.
Yeah.
You watch them go up.
You watch them go down a little bit.
But ultimately, guys like Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, Shoei Otani, LeBron James are stocks
you want to hold and watch rise over time.
All right.
Mark, I really appreciate it.
Thanks for the education, brother.
I appreciate it.
I got you.
Great to meet you guys.
Likewise.
We're going to be talking with more of these card dealers out here at 2300 Arena.
They're still getting set up.
This iconic sports card show coming together.
Come on down, guys.
I think they open up at three o'clock.
We'll get the exact time for you somewhere over there, of course, in the next few minutes.
But yeah, they'll be opening up this afternoon.
You can sneak peek here right on Uncut.
We'll be back in two minutes.
Guys, you know about the ones made here in America.
They're easy to keep track of.
But here you got professional soccer cards.
You come down here, tons of hockey cards from all over the world.
Look at these.
O-P-G.
It's written in French.
That's probably your Canadian.
Hockey cards.
These are the cards.
And these are full packs that belong to George and Patty.
George, thanks for having us.
I appreciate it.
It's a microphone.
Just hold it up.
Tell me a little bit about your event and what it is you all do.
It seems like you get everything under the sun.
Hold that up nice and high.
All right.
So we sell a lot of the unopened products.
So basically, all these boxes are lottery tickets.
Each box has anywhere from four packs to 10 packs.
Open them up.
You could hit a $2 card.
You could hit a card worth $15,000, $20,000.
So most people that are buying this are gambling.
They are chasing their favorite players for whatever sport.
We have everything.
Baseball, football, hockey, basketball, soccer, wrestling.
Just using this pack as an example.
It's $30 by the O-P-G company.
Again, written in French.
So I'm guessing it's Quebecois.
This is good Canadian hockey.
Yes, they're from Canada.
There's a picture of Sid Crosby on it.
It's $30.
What do you get in here?
This is 25, 26 hockeys.
Is this everything they put out that year?
It's the current season.
So this has eight packs, nine cards per pack.
So you're going to get 72 cards in this.
Okay.
You could get Crosby.
You might not get Crosby.
Right.
So they put a spokesperson on the front of every box.
Sure.
It's luck of the draw.
Right.
Now, this whole set is like 330 cards.
So you're only getting 70 in here.
So you would have to buy multiple boxes to try and assemble the set.
You are going to get doubles and special inserts and all that stuff.
So that's how all this stuff works.
Now, what I sense is that maybe by doing it this way,
by selling them new things,
and I think your analogy of a lottery ticket is really a cool one.
By putting them out this way, by selling them this way,
aren't you maybe occupying sort of a corner of the sports card market
that fewer people are occupying in a way?
Maybe this is sort of your corner, your niche.
This is my little niche.
Absolutely.
A lot of guys do the single cards, the graded cards.
I don't sell anything loose, individual.
Everything I sell is unopened.
Well, it's harder to keep track of.
And if it's going to be loose,
it's probably going to be high value running around this place,
which means maybe easier to lose.
And also, George, I'm not the guy that's got,
I mean, with full respect to Mark Franklin, it's amazing.
I don't have $20,000 for a Jordan rookie card, you know?
I do have $30 for some of those.
Absolutely.
Right.
Maybe it's a fun way to enjoy the show in a way too, if you're not the guy.
Now, this is cheaper product.
I have glass showcases down there, which have more expensive boxes.
So if I'm getting a full box from you, like one of these,
but it's maybe 20 years old, it's going to have more value, right?
Depending on the rookies and stuff.
I mean, I have boxes in the case that are $1,000 a box.
Wow.
Now, what would those be?
Well, the price is determined by supply and demand, also by the rookies.
So like at Tom, I have a box down here I can show you.
I'm always like, yeah, show me.
I want to see it.
So this box right here.
Oh, wow.
It's from 2000.
So that's a rookie Peyton Manning?
No, this is actually Tom Brady's rookies in here.
Okay.
So Peyton's established at this point.
He's in there yelling Montana at everybody and whatever, you know.
Exactly.
So $650, you have a shot to get a Tom Brady rookie card.
Okay.
Which is going to be worth a zillion dollars.
And that's the lottery winner if you go ahead and pull that.
So these boxes in here are a lot more expensive.
Now, some of them do come with guaranteed autographs or guaranteed memorabilia.
The more guarantee, the better, the more expensive.
Well, what I see here too, and it speaks to your knowledge of it.
In order to play this game, you have to know your stuff.
You got to be into sports.
I guess, but here's Disney's Wonder 2025.
I mean, you've got Upper Deck AEW Wrestling.
You got Chrome WWE.
How do you stay on top of it?
It's tough.
It's how you got to love it to begin with, I guess, right?
I've been doing this for 40 years.
I've been doing this my whole life.
Yeah.
The non-sports, like here's Disney.
Disney stuff's very hot.
They have numbered cards.
There's one-on-one Mickey Mouse cards, which go for $5,000, $10,000.
Son of a gun.
That's crazy.
I had no idea.
There's big money in sports.
Big money in cards.
Predict a little bit for me.
Go out on a limb.
Next five, 10 years.
I mean, Disney's putting out sports cards.
Should local television stations be putting out hot hologram baseball cards
of their incredibly handsome staff?
I think your card would go for big bucks.
Do you?
I mean, true God's blessing.
At least $10.
$10.
Or you could go for $30.
You could give all the reporters in the city pack, and maybe you'll get lucky and yank a Hank Flynn.
You said that, not me.
That's true.
Georgie, thank you so much.
I really appreciate it.
No problem.
Great stuff.
Hey, Patty, one quick question for you before I move around over there.
This is an awful lot of sports cards.
You must like this stuff as well on some level?
I love sports.
I'm not into the cards.
I just love watching the sports.
None of the card thing, you just kind of...
You don't hate it.
No, I don't hate it.
I just don't understand.
I don't either.
I'm not good with it.
That's why when I'm just here, I just take the money.
Yeah.
Questions, I always refer to George.
I'm like, go ask him.
There you go.
God bless you, Patty.
Thanks so much.
Good talking to you.
Guys, we got a lot more to find out here.
Again, we're always here to be educated.
We're always learning at the legendary 2300 Arena.
And yeah, there is combat sports coming up later on this month.
I might even be able to get a quick word with Roger about that.
But until then, guys, the iconic sports card show opens up today here at three o'clock,
2300 Arena.
Come on down.
Sneak Peek continues when we come back with more Uncut.
All right, guys.
Checking out some of the inventory here at 2300 Arena.
The iconic sports card show opens up today at three o'clock with a couple of guys from
Monmouth Trading Cards.
I fear you guys might be from New Jersey.
Here we go.
Monmouth.
Introduce yourselves, if you would.
What's going on?
I'm Joey from Monmouth.
I work at the Marlton location.
Pleasure to meet you.
Now, the Marlton location, you guys have a brick and mortar shop over there?
Yep.
All right.
Well, well done.
There you go.
Tell me about what you guys have going on because everybody seems to have their own corner
or niche.
And I'm not positive that yours is Pokemon, but you do have some Pokemon cards out here.
You've got athletic cards as well.
Would you consider this to be one of your niches, one of your special places?
Yeah.
I mean, we pretty much deal in everything.
Like you said earlier, if they print it on cardboard, we deal in it.
So yeah, we do sports, Pokemon, the whole nine yards.
We just want to make a really nice community for everybody.
Yeah.
We have nine locations, about to be 10 and 11 coming soon.
That's fabulous.
In South Jersey, Joey works at Marlton.
I work at Deptford.
We have a location in Mays Landing as well.
Okay.
North Jersey, we're in West Long Branch, Wall, East Brunswick, Livingston, and Midland Park.
So we're all over the state.
All right.
So very honest question.
At this particular point in time, 2026, is it expensive to keep 11 or 12, you know,
10 brick and mortar locations open the way you all do?
I'm guessing that things are going well enough that it justifies itself.
Yeah, we keep expanding.
We're actually going to Framingham, Massachusetts as well.
Wow, all right.
We're in Stanford, Connecticut, and about to open up a couple more.
Look at you guys.
You know, this is a hobby that people keep getting into and, you know, people are finding again.
It's a great way to experience some childhood memories, look back on athletes and Pokemon.
It's a good thing to father and son with, too, a whole lot.
Oh, I love that guy, or he stinks, you know, he's overblown, whatever it is.
Yeah, and you know, we have families coming to the shop all the time.
Sure.
Shout out to my guy, Ryan.
He comes in with his kids all the time.
They're a huge hockey family.
Yeah.
And they love to collect flyers and everything else like that.
I know, Joey, you probably see a bunch of people that come in and enjoy the shop all the time.
All right.
Good stuff, guys.
There's even one there.
It looks like a piece of uniform right there.
A piece of Patrick Mahomes uniform card.
Son of a gun.
That cannot be cheap.
The $1,500 is the price on that?
Correct, yep.
Yeah, no problem.
Absolutely.
You got a piece of Mahomes uniform in there.
It's going to have value.
Guys, great to meet you.
Monmouth Trading Cards.
Come and see them here at $2,300, guys.
I'm going to run over and see John real quick, who is laying cards out right now,
and they look like boxers.
Again, guys, it's all about the niche.
It's all about the corner of the market that you occupy, and John absolutely has his own corner.
John, put that on as you work real quick.
Tell me a little bit about these cards.
They look sort of like mid-age, maybe 1950s or 60s.
Tell me about them.
They're cool.
Yeah, these are late 40s, early 50s.
Some football, some boxing, some baseball cards.
It cracks me up.
Well, I mean, there's Charlie Trippy, who I've heard of, the football player,
but he's right next to a basketball player in a black jersey.
There's no name on it.
It's just the dude in a tank top.
It cracks me up.
Yeah, they definitely did it different back then,
naming a little bit of information on the back of the cards.
Stan Mazek.
All right.
Now, who would have put those cards out?
Were they actually what they are, or were they toss-ins with a pack of cigarettes or whatever?
So this is the first basketball Bowman set.
Actually, gum.
Gum?
Yeah, you'd get gum.
So were you buying the gum, or were you buying the cards, and you get a piece of gum with it?
I think everybody back then was actually buying the gum.
Buying the gum, and you get a card to go with it.
Yep.
All right.
John, tell everybody exactly who it is you are.
Do you go under a certain name, or is it just you?
Just me.
Name's John.
I've been doing this, buying stuff for over 30 years, selling stuff off and on for over 20.
Well, you've got a little bit of wrestling stuff.
There's a Hulkster doll right there.
You seem to smile and nod when I make reference to the wrestling history of 2300.
They've had some hellacious shows here over the years.
Yes, they have.
ECW did all kinds of stuff here.
Yep.
So is wrestling a big thing in the cards?
I think right now, it's everything.
I know I heard George saying before, anything they could possibly make money on.
So they do Disney, any kind of sport you can think of.
Right now, obviously, FIFA's really popular with the World Cup going on.
Sure.
All right.
Well, John, I appreciate the tour.
He's got a lot of different things here, guys.
There's The Rock right there.
You can get that.
There's a Jordan.
I don't know if it's a rookie card.
It's a seven level.
It's an entire world here, guys.
And it continues to fill in.
The whole room's going to be full by 3 o'clock by the time you get here.
If you're looking for something a little bit different to do,
then be down at the bank for the All-Star Weekend, which is plenty cool.
Or be over at the FanFest Pennsylvania Convention Center.
Come down here to 2300 Arena for this iconic sporting events card show, guys.
A lot of fun.
I think it's $10 or $15 to get in.
And they start at 3 o'clock.
I think they'll open until 8 o'clock.
Give me a couple minutes.
We'll be right back with more on Cubs.
All right.
There is Lamine Yamal on what's a 2024 Topps Chrome UEFA Euro card.
I think the differences are sometimes important.
There's several different Kylian Mbappe cards.
We've never been more familiar with these guys than we are right now with FIFA World Cup.
You're not quite leaving town, but certainly getting down to the wire.
Soccer cards.
Guys, we're over here with a couple of guys from Chris Sports Cards and Cards by Tech.
What's up, my friend?
How are you?
Good.
How are you?
I'm well.
My name is Hank.
Tell me a little bit.
Hold that mic up and tell me a little bit about what you guys have going on here.
How you got into it?
My name is Matt.
I started sports cards in around 2020 during COVID time.
And I would say the hobby is definitely right now at its peak.
Definitely the market is very hot right now, especially with World Cup,
especially all the soccer cards.
So you got into it as a young guy during COVID.
Yeah.
Fell in love with it.
And it's a great hobby.
Well, I was going to say some of these hobbies,
some of these passions will keep pulling you along.
You try to get out of it.
And then something hits you again.
And, you know, here you are.
Yeah.
Um, tell me about some, what are some of your favorites in here?
Like if you were walking in here today,
saw one of these, you would say to yourself, you know what?
I'm buying that.
But you own it already.
But this, this Flaminia Mall right here is probably my favorite.
It's beautiful card.
Yeah.
First of all, it's gorgeous.
Especially with right now, especially Spain being one of the final teams in.
He's obviously like a young star.
Right.
Up and coming.
Yeah.
And his name's everywhere.
I mean, he's got Wawa sponsorship or something.
Maybe it's Pepsi, but I see him on garbage cans in places.
He's not garbage.
The point that I'm saying is like, I see him in places
and I'm always really frank about what I don't know.
I'm like, I look at it and I'm like, well, who is Flaminia Mall?
Clearly he's a great player.
I just don't watch enough to necessarily know,
but he's got that sponsorship going on.
It's really a time when the world's getting a lot smaller too.
We're learning about worldwide sports,
things that are happening in other places that are really, really cool.
How does this?
How does this keep you informed?
How does it pull you along?
What is it about the hobby that keeps you going?
Just the people, I guess, and the new connections
and like the certain cards that drop, I guess.
Yeah.
It's really just collecting for fun almost.
And then obviously the money that comes with it.
But I would say just collecting the cool stuff
and like personal collection of the players you like.
And you grew up watching.
It's really cool to see and like if they play better
and the playoffs and the cards will go up
and it's just like cool to track everything with the cards as well.
Well, it's good to meet you.
Thanks so much for the time.
I sure appreciate it.
Thank you so much.
Are you Chris?
Tell me about Chris' sports cards.
Chris, you got to the point where you got a table here.
Is this basically a full-blown business for you?
I mean, this is, yeah.
How do you like it?
How long have you been in it?
About two and a half years.
Has it ever turned around and stung you?
I mean, all the cards that I bought worked out really well
because Ohtani is the man.
Yeah, sure.
Ohtani made me so much money.
There's never been a player like him.
Of course.
So he's made you a ton.
So you're buying low and selling high, I guess, right?
True.
Like whoever buys cards never loses money on Ohtani
because every week, every month,
he's showing off a different performance.
He did 50-50 during the playoff.
He did three home runs in 10 strikeouts.
Right.
Same game.
Everyone is going crazy on Ohtani.
Well, here are three cards, and these are rated at 10.
This one is a 10.
That one's a 10.
They're autographed.
And this one, I don't know about the one in the middle,
but this one's 15,000.
That one's 15,000.
And the whole box is Shohei Ohtani,
which shows the faith that you have in him as a player,
but more importantly, as a face on a card
that really builds value on a card.
I mean, whatever on-card auto is more valuable,
so it's more expensive.
Right.
The one that doesn't have the autograph
is somewhat expensive, somewhat not.
It depends on the brand and the grade.
Now, are these cards that are autographed,
these are pulls, right?
I mean, it's not like you pulled an Ohtani card
and somebody went and got it autographed.
It comes in the pack autographed.
That's the special trick about it, right?
Yes.
You have to pull it out of the boxes,
and you got to be really lucky to pull the card itself.
All right, guys.
He is Chris from Chris's Sports Cards.
Thank you.
Yeah.
Hey, thanks for having me, guys.
The tables continue to fill out.
Guys, thanks.
Appreciate it.
More tables.
More people.
More things going on.
I'm one of the guys helping run the show.
Enjoy the weekend.
I'll see you money for another Live Uncut.
